bChapter /bb164 /bbMarkus /b

“Okay, Rosebud, you color,” I say as bI /bset Rose down on the floor.

Rose nods her head and walks over to the couch. She opens the bag and starts to pull out her things. She pulls out her coloring book and markers. Roseys on he stomach and opens the book. She starts humming as she works.

Cal smiles softly down at Rose before he goes to work on pack business.

I walk to my desk and sit down. I login into my desktop and start to work on schedules. With school out for the summer, I need to add this past year’s juniors to the schedule. I add the graduated seniors to the roster and send it off to Nick. He will look at it and get back to me after he finishes morning training.

I open a new email from my best friend. Oh boy, what does James want now as he did not mind link me himselfb. /bbI /bopen the email, not entirely sure what to expect.

I sigh at the email. James wants an increased budget for fireworks. James went overboardst yearb, /band Cal had decreased his budget for this year. What am I supposed to do? James loves to shoot off fireworks. I finish reading the email and sigh again.

James wrote that Ama has not watched the firework disy in years. He then wrote; Rose has never been able to watch fireworks.

“Maniptive bastard,” I grumble to myself.

“I’m assuming that you read our Beta’s email,” Cal says as he looks over at me.

“Yes,” I sigh as I close the email. He knew that if he wrote that, I would give him the pack credit card and tell him to get as much as he wants. I have to stay strong, so he does not bankrupt our pack. “I’ll talk with himter.”

“Talk with whoter?” James asks as he walks into our officeb. /bHe plops down on the couch. “Hey Rosie, what are you up to?”

“Not Rosie,” Rose growls as she looks up from her coloring.

“Right, sorry, Rose,” James says as he holds his hands up in mock surrender.

Rose nods her head before she rips out the page she had been working on and hands it to James.

“Ooh, that looks great,” James says.

Rose climbs to her feet andes over to me. “What you doin?” Rose asks as she looks at theputer screen.

“Pack businessb,/b” I tell her bas /bI ce a kiss on her head.

Chapter 164 Markus

“I help?” she asks as she looks up at me with puppy eyes.

“Sure, you can help me pick out fireworks for the celebration in two weeks,” James cackles as he picks Rose out of myp. He then bolts from our office before I am unable to say anything.

Pack work goes slowly as we work. I try my hardest not to think about Ama. About how she is a few halls over in the kitchen getting lunch ready. About how gorgeous she looked in her sun dress this morning. About how she is carrying our pup.

I nce at the clock on myputer. 11:30 it read. We’ve been here less than two hours, and I am already bored. I want to go home and snuggle with my beautiful mate.

‘Can’t we just set all the paperwork on fire and be done with it?‘ Aziz grumbles.

‘Fire is not the answer,‘ I answer him with a sigh.

‘We still need to burn down the Remington house,‘ my wolf points out.

‘Yes, we do,‘ I growl with satisfaction.

“What has you so happy about?” Cal asks as he looks at me.

“Thinking about burning down Thomas and Marie’s house,” I say with a smile that doesn’t meet my eyes.

“After we figure out how they were able to keep us from finding Amalie,” he tells me. “I’ve been thinking about it. Amalie said that there were times when she could hear people talking, but no one could smell her scent. I want to know how they blocked her off sopletely.”

“You thinking that the witch did something?” I ask him. I mean it would make sense. She has had a hand in keeping Ama from us for a very long time. “You know they moved shortly before Ama was locked up.”

Cal nods his head before he is typing on hisputer.

I get up and walk over to him to see what he is doing. He has open the public records of homes that people owned. He clicks a few times before he finds Thomas and Marie’s current home. Cal clicks a button to see who used to own their home.

The information has been deleted. There is nothing about who built or owned the home previously. It doesn’t tell us how many rooms or bathrooms there are. It doesn’t even state if there is a basement or attic. All it states is the date of when Thomas and Marie took ownership of the house.

“Dad deleted the information,” I growl at theputer.

“How could he, this is a public record?” Cal challenges me.

“I don’t know, but he had to have,” I say. Great, the mystery gets worse.

Chapter 164 Markus

“I’ll look into it,” Cal assures me.

:

I nod my head and go back to my desk. I m my head down. “Why is it every time we figure bsomething /bbout/b, something else pops up?” I ask in defeat.

“Alphas! I demand that you do something about those new Omegas that Michelle hired!” She screeches bas /bbshe /bstorms into our office.

“You need to learn your ce,” Cal growls dangerously.

“You are not the head Omega. She, you have been walking a very thin line for a long time,” I growl bat /bherb. /b

“One of the new Omegas tried to dump scolding hot soup on me. If it wasn’t for my wolf’s bfast /breflexesb, /bbI /bwould have been burnt!” She tries to defend.

“Why didn’t you tell Michelle this?” I sigh at her.

“Because she is offzing about. I’ve been having to train the new Omegas and run the kitchenb,/bb” /bshe shouts.

“We shall go investigate,” Cal sighs as he stands up.

‘What?‘ I demand over the link.

‘We can use this as an excuse to go talk with Amalie,‘ he smirks to me.

‘Great idea,‘ bI /bsay as bI /bstand up to follow.

“Thank you for finally interfering,” She sighs.

I roll my eyes. I highly doubt that anything She just said is true. She has been after Michelle’s job for years.

We enter the dining room. It’s more subdued than normal.

“Where bis /bshe?” She shouts.

Does this woman only have one volume?

“Who?” Nick asks as he observes two warriors clean bup /ba messi. /i

“That useless Omega I had cleaning up her mess after she tried to dump the soup all over me!” She screeches.

“Kim?b” /bNick asks in confusion.

“Not her, though she is just as useless. No, the blond bimbo that decided to wear a bdress /bto work in the bkitchens/b. The one parading around trying to get herself noticed and fucked by a warriori,/i” she bgrowls/b.
