CHAPTER 442: CHAPTER 335: PAST EVENTS (PART 4)

A dozen seconds later, the taxi broke down completely on the seaside highway.

"Well, it looks like your dream pursuit ends here," the driver’s tone was full of schadenfreude.

"Try again, maybe you’ll get it started?" Minamoto Tamako was relentless.

"No trying, it’ll damage the car." The driver was stubborn.

"You can’t just leave it in the middle of the road, can you?" asked Tamako.

"Why not?" The driver shrugged, "Anyway, you don’t even know where you’re going, do you?"

"It doesn’t matter where I’m going!"

Minamoto Tamako felt annoyed, she believed the driver’s air of despair was affecting her. Why did all the salarymen appear so dismal? What did "I can never realize my dreams in this lifetime" mean? It sounded like he was indirectly mocking her!

She suddenly slapped the driver’s shoulder and said loudly, "If you want to violate the parking rules, suit yourself, but I’m moving on! Thank you, driver! I will repay your fare someday!"

"This is over ten kilometers from the city, you won’t make it, I advise you to stay in the car and wait for your parents to pick you up..." The driver prepared to turn back, only to have Tamako press the key against his neck.

"Don’t turn around! I, I am a robber!"

Minamoto Tamako shouted, "I can make it to the end! Even as a robber, I want to chase my dreams!"

This was her only black history, one she didn’t want anyone to uncover. If the driver turned around right then, he would see her criminal index jump from 0% to 1%.

This was a breakthrough from 0 to 1.

"Not convinced."

The driver delivered those words with a very annoying tone.

Tamako had no way to prove herself; she could only loudly bet with the driver that one day she would realize her life value and achieve her dream goals!

When that time comes, she will return to the front of that convenience store in Hokkaido Sapporo City, beckon a taxi, and the driver will still be just the driver, politely and courteously taking her across the seaside highway—after reaching the destination, she will settle this fare along with the earlier one, and loudly tell the driver that dreams can be achieved!

After speaking, Tamako opened the car door, jumped barefoot onto the highway, and ran forward through the pouring rain.

Fushimi Roku didn’t really see the girl’s face, he could only see her back—the girl jogged a while in the rain, probably got tired, gradually slowed down, and continued kicking water as she walked ahead.

Heavy rain stuck to the car window; he didn’t activate the wipers, so his vision was blurry.

Fushimi Roku sat quietly inside the car for quite a while until the sirens blared and surrounded the taxi. The leading criminal police took him into the police car for questioning, and he told the whole story, including the part where the girl threatened him into driving with a knife.

That sentence actually carried two meanings, and the criminal police weren’t too sure then, so they asked Roku if he was threatening them. He confirmed it, indicating he didn’t mind exposing the matter, thus saddling the runaway young lady with a kidnapping charge.

Moreover, there was a hidden meaning: even without encountering him, that young lady would have taken risks.

Some birds cannot be caged; no matter how large the cage, it can’t compare to the vast sky. For them, life never comes with a compromise option.
