?Chapter 1295:

“I can’t say for certain,” Eric replied, shaking his head. There was unease in his expression. “Where is she now?”

“Still at the hotel. We’ve got someone watching her.”

“Then let’s go speak to her. If something really happened, we’ll get to the bottom of it.”

At the hotel, just outside the linen storage area, the fan stepped out and found Eric standing there with his security team positioned behind him.

Her heart skipped a beat. Why was he here?

Did A fail to handle things properly? Had something gone wrong, and now Eric was here to confront her about it?

The woman gave a forcedugh, trying to steady herself. “Mr. Scott, what brings you here today?”

Though she attempted to act calm, fear flickered in her eyes.

She knew what kind of power he held. With just a word, he could have her escorted to the police station without hesitation.

Eric didn’t respond immediately. Instead, his gaze shifted briefly to Phillips, giving the cue.

Phillips stepped forward without pause. “Last night, you were seen on the floor where Mr. Scott was staying. You weren’t on duty, yet you lingered in that hallway for twenty minutes. Can you exin why?”

The woman’s face went rigid, and her breath caught. They had been watching her.

“You may have managed to avoid being seen on the hallway cameras,” Phillips continued, his tone growing sharper, “but the elevator footage recorded everything, every angle and every time stamp. There’s no use denying you were there.”

His voice dropped, filled with scrutiny. “So answer the question. What were you doing?”

“Ah!” She flinched at his tone, herplexion going pale, but she refused to back down.

“My time is my own. I don’t owe anyone an exnation.”

“Is that your final answer?” Phillips narrowed his eyes. He didn’t wait for her response before pressing further. “Mr. Scott’s room was tampered with and something extremely valuable is now missing. We have reason to believe someone entered without permission. As a hotel staff member, you had ess and knowledge of theyout. And you were seen there when you weren’t on duty. That makes you an obvious suspect.”

“That’s not true!” The woman’s voice cracked as she denied it. “It wasn’t me! I didn’t steal anything! You’re using me for no reason!”

“Then you can exin that in detail at the station.” Phillips gestured toward the men standing nearby. “Bring her in.”

    “What—what are you doing?!”

The guards stepped forward, reaching for her arms.

Fear took hold of herpletely, and her resistance melted into panic. She shook her head frantically. “I didn’t take anything! Please! I swear I didn’t!”

“Then why were you there?” Phillips repeated, unrelenting. “Why show up on that floor if you had no business being there?”

Her voice dropped as she bit down on her lower lip, trembling from head to toe.

Everything about her behavior made it obvious she had something to hide.

“You’re still not talking?” Phillips took a half step forward, signaling once more. “Take her away.”
