Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!
Chapter 178: Mason Nightshade, the Wife-Protecting Maniac
Matthew Xenos replied, "This is part of it. There are too many applicants, so we split the auditions into several rounds. Here's today's audition list and information—the complete registration data is on the computer."
Mason Nightshade lifted his gaze.
Matthew instantly understood, signaling an assistant to bring over the computer and set it in front of Mason.
Mason tapped lightly a few times, searching through the applicants' list for Aurelia Shaw's name. Sure enough, he easily found her information.
He clicked it open.
What jumped out was Aurelia's stunning face, untouched by any makeup, her skin fair and clear. The usual sparkle in her almond-shaped eyes was subdued, replaced by a calm warmth. Her lips wore a faint, subtle smile, and a few loose, slightly curly strands framed her ear, while her long black hair was knotted slickly at the back.
Below was her résumé.
Mason looked through it carefully. In the past, he never really had the chance to see what she was like at work; all he knew was that no matter what she did, she always put her whole heart into it.
He'd missed too much of her.
Now he wanted to make up for all of it.
He'd do all he could to know everything about her.
Matthew stole a glance, slightly shocked—he hadn't expected such a beautiful girl. No wonder Mr. Nightshade liked her.
He was about to praise something when a somewhat uptight male voice sounded nearby:
"The girl does look good, but her eyes are too seductive—not right for this role."
The speaker was the director of this drama—Sawyer. He was a stubborn man in his forties, but quite capable. Otherwise, with that temper, it'd be hard for him to survive in this industry.
He ignored the look the investor shot him, and even when Mason looked over, he didn't bother to take back his words. Sitting up straight, his expression was stern.
He'd more or less figured out why Mason showed up so suddenly.
Hmph!
Thought the script had attracted a sudden big investor—turns out it's just someone pulling strings!
Jackson Xander jabbed Sawyer with his elbow—this guy, really no sense for the situation! He turned and smiled at Mason, saying, "Mr. Nightshade, don't listen to him. What does he know? I think this girl is great—she's got exactly the female lead's vibe."
"She fits?" Sawyer scoffed, giving Mason zero face, blurting out, "Amelina Collins in the story is an autistic girl who can only express herself through painting. Now look at this girl—her face is all fox-like seduction. She'd be great at a vixen role, but to play a girl like Amelina? Absolutely not!"
"If I say she does, then she does!" Matthew slammed the table, nearly exploding in anger at Sawyer.
He's usually uptight, but does it matter now? Who's standing right in front of him? Mason Nightshade, the one man in Q City you can't afford to cross! Even if he wanted a scandal-ridden hooker to play the lead, you'd better figure out how to agree!
"You said…" Mason drew out the word, his deep, magnetic voice sounding slowly, his gaze icy as he stared at Sawyer. "Who's got the fox-like face?"
The low rumble in his voice hinted at danger.
Sawyer's heart skipped a beat. He turned away, dodging Mason's piercing stare—but his attitude didn't change, showing no intention of taking his words back.
Matthew was practically hopping mad, gritting his teeth as he explained to Mason, "Please don't mind him, Mr. Nightshade. That's just how he is, you absolutely mustn't take it personally! I'll talk to him later, the female lead is set—she's definitely the right pick!"
"Matthew, you!" The second he heard Matthew unilaterally deciding on the female lead, Sawyer suddenly whipped his head around, glaring at Matthew.
