Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!
Chapter 222: Mason Nightshade, I’ve been waiting for you for so long
"Did you find out what I asked you to investigate about her in M Nation?" Mason Nightshade asked.
He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding his phone, his features cold and aloof, his tall figure merging into the darkness reflected from outside, casting a cool shadow on the ground.
"Nothing unusual has been found so far, but it will take some more time," Grayson Quinn replied on the other end of the line.
Mason Nightshade knew these matters couldn't be uncovered so quickly and responded with a deep "Hmm," just as he was about to hang up, Grayson Quinn's voice came through again.
"Hey, let me remind you," a lazy voice mixed with a yawn came through, "if your sister-in-law really is sleepwalking, her attention might be scattered, easy to get injured or trip up, you'd better stay by her side."
Hearing this, Mason Nightshade's heart tightened. He said, "I'm hanging up," and hurriedly made his way downstairs.
Reaching the staircase, he suddenly stopped, seeing Aurelia Shaw coming up. Noticing him, her small face lifted, her peach blossom eyes miraculously misted over instantly, looking at him pitifully.
"Mason Nightshade, I've been waiting for you for so long."
Mason Nightshade feigned ignorance of her little thoughts and went over to her, rubbing her on top of the head, "I'm sorry, I won't make you wait again, alright?"
"Pinky swear!"
Aurelia Shaw raised her hand, sticking out her pinky finger.
Mason Nightshade was momentarily startled; normally, he would never do something so childish.
But now...
The proud, dignified man raised a little finger, hooking it with hers, stamping a promise mid-air with her thumb.
In a low voice, he said, "Pinky swear."
Aurelia Shaw beamed, turned, and bounced away happily.
Mason Nightshade remembered Grayson Quinn's words of advice, his face darkening, hurriedly catching up with her, not forgetting to remind her, "Walk slower, don't run around, be careful not to fall."
Nanny Rong heard the commotion and came out of her room, seeing this scene—a girl wrapped like a dumpling bouncing ahead, and a tall man over six feet following nervously, his aloof face showing rare tension, repeatedly giving reminders that sounded uncharacteristic coming from him.
Nanny Rong paused, watching the car drive away, leaving the yard, thinking: Has the Young Master and Young Madam made up?
The car wandered around the city for a long time before finally finding a 24-hour dessert shop.
Mason Nightshade picked a cake at the dessert shop, they sat inside, he placed the cake in front of Aurelia Shaw, "Eat up."
Aurelia Shaw happily unwrapped the cake, then looked around.
Mason Nightshade curiously asked her, "What's wrong?"
Could it be she didn't like it.
Aurelia Shaw frowned slightly, a bit troubled, "There are no candles."
"..." Mason Nightshade got up helplessly, asked the staff if they had birthday candles. The staff, a girl in her early twenties, blushed shyly upon seeing such a handsome and composed man like Mason Nightshade, found a box of birthday candles in the store and handed it to him.
Mason Nightshade softly thanked her, then without even glancing at the girl, turned back walking towards the table.
The girl watched the man walk back to the table, unwrap the candles, insert them one by one, and then softly asked the girl next to him, "How many candles to put?" The gentle look in his eyes was different from his cold demeanor towards her; this was real love—in his eyes, in his heart, there was only that one person.
The staff's heart was about to melt from the scene.
Originally bored working alone in the middle of the night, she didn't expect to witness such a heartwarming, adorable moment.
