As soon as she came over, the atmosphere at the dining table turned much colder.

Kai Nightshade glanced at her with displeasure, "All you do is spend money and shop. When you have the time, help Mason with the company's matters. The Nightshade Family has only just started to recover, yet as a mother you don't care at all. All you do is spend money recklessly every day."

"Isn't it my son's earnings meant for me to spend?" Sophie Nye replied impatiently, but still held her patience, responding to Kai Nightshade.

Kai is now in charge at night; she can't afford to offend him.

Kai Nightshade is a man who has seen a lot of the world, so how could he not understand Sophie Nye's intentions? If it weren't for the sake of his deceased son, he would have kicked her out of the house long ago.

Mason Nightshade said nothing, his expression was cool and detached, as he placed food into Aurelia Shaw's bowl, "Eat more, you're too thin." His gentle and tender tone was in stark contrast to when he addressed Sophie Nye, not even sparing her a glance.

If a mother could be divided into biological and nurturing, then Sophie Nye could at most be considered as having given birth to him. She never looked after him or gave him any affection, but for the sake of money, she was enthusiastic in showing "maternal love." He would support her in her old age, repaying her for giving birth to him, but as for anything else...

Ha...

A coldness flashed in Mason Nightshade's eyes.

Sophie Nye angrily clenched her fist!

No one in this family saw her eyes—her former husband didn't, her father-in-law didn't, and now even her son didn't!

Her furious gaze turned to Aurelia Shaw, who looked indifferent and was enjoying the food Mason Nightshade had served her, a flash of cold jealousy in her eyes.

After finishing the meal, Aurelia planned to go upstairs to rest for a bit and then look at the script. Suddenly, Sophie Nye called her, "Aurelia, wait a minute."

Aurelia looked at her in confusion.

Sophie Nye crossed her arms and lifted her head slightly to look down at her, "Go wash the dishes."

What? Did she hear that right?

Aurelia's lips curled into a cold smile, then she turned and went upstairs.

Sophie Nye chased after her, trying to grab her down.

Before her hand could touch Aurelia's arm, Aurelia suddenly sidestepped, her foot hooking Sophie Nye's, causing the latter to fall to the ground, chipping two teeth on the step.

"You!" Sophie Nye's words came out lisped.

Aurelia sneered, "You still see yourself as the lady of this house, do you? It's pathetic; you can't even recognize your own position. All you do is stand on high and bark orders at others. If it weren't for Mason Nightshade, you'd have been destitute on the streets long ago. Do you think you could still have all of this?"

"As my former 'loving mother-in-law,' let me give you some advice—stop provoking me, live your life well, or I'll destroy everything you have now!"

After saying this, Aurelia stepped over her long legs and went upstairs.

Sophie Nye gritted her teeth in anger. If she had been able to heed such words, she wouldn't still be in this situation after all these years. She thought Aurelia was showing off, having captured her son's heart, and she wanted to replace her as the mistress of the house.

She would never allow such a thing to happen!

"Hey Isabel Bennett, are you still filming recently? If you're not busy, come over to your auntie's house—Mason is here too. But that annoying Aurelia is also staying here."

"Aurelia moved into the old house?" Eleanor Spencer knew there must be something up the moment Sophie Nye called her. This woman really fancied herself as her stepmother. If it weren't for her being Mason's mom, with her current fame and status, she wouldn't bother dealing with her.

"Sure, Auntie, I'll come visit you in a few days. Auntie, why does your voice sound strange? Are you okay?"
