Tower's Richest Player: My Coins Won't Stop Increasing
Chapter 105: That power alone won’t save the city
CHAPTER 105: THAT POWER ALONE WON’T SAVE THE CITY
Just like how Captain Rose and Zyon were having a spar in the 30th city, Captain Lucas was entertaining KiRA and Izzy with his lacking skills.
He did not fight the two of them together or even dare to do so. He knew he may have more practical experience than the two of them, but they had statistical and skill advantages.
Besides, he did not have the kind of equipment that they had. Things like that weren’t commonly found even on this floor... They were carrying items that would make any soldier envious of them.
Also, since he did not know how well they could use those things, he was assuming they had decent control over those weapons until now... that’s what he had in mind until he fought against them one by one though.
"You are stronger than I had anticipated, Lady Isah."
Izzy and he fought for more than a few minutes and exchanged more than a few blows. They fought for real.
Captain Lucas used all the sword skills he had along with his movement techniques and his Aura.
He fought with everything he had, something he would not do against any of the rookies he faced regularly, and in the end, Izzy was able to defeat him with the help of her defensive barrier.
"The way you deploy the barrier, the way you use your hand-to-hand combat techniques like the martial artists, as well as the way you use the formless sword was a sight to behold.
Instead of teaching you something, I should learn a thing or two from you, haha."
He wasn’t joking even though he laughed like an old man.
He was serious. The eyes that had praised her were sincere.
"You flatter me, captain. I am not that good just yet."
"Oh, but you are amazing, Miss. You knew what you were doing in that arena."
There were many things that he could learn from Izzy. Be it combat technique or Mana channel techniques that he could use for Aura, Izzy was a unique Mana user who relied on physical combat instead of magic.
Her battle understanding was sharp. She did not defeat him with better stat power.
She had predicted each of his movements. He knew exactly how he was going to move.
When he moved, there was something about his movements that stood out among the other things as well.
As time passed, her offense became so powerful that he did not have any way to guard himself.
In the end, he was defeated without even landing a powerful hit.
"And you, KiRA. Those powers can surely save us, as well as the rest of the cities if you help us. Those wings of light and Halo, the purity and the ability to produce poison and potions, even your other combat skills. They are praiseworthy-."
"But that power alone won’t save the city, Captain Lucas. If anything, I am concerned about the night of the Red Moon."
KiRA was strong.
Izzy was strong but her current individual powers weren’t as potent as her tactical battle knowledge. She was more effective as a support unit that could buff others and keep general stability within the mass.
KiRA may have shown the captain some interesting things but he could not show them off when the battle was ongoing and hundreds of players were watching them.
In the first place, he did not want the battle on the night of the Red Moon.
Preventing the entire battle was not possible but he was going to stop the worst-case scenario.
To do that, however, he knew just his powers weren’t going to be enough.
"Would you help me if I say there’s a way to actually save the city, Captain Lucas?" KiRA asked sincerely, surprising the captain.
As things stood, the nightmare would come true and the cities would fall right after the quest was complete.
They would suffer once again, and this time would be much worse than the other times.
"Hmm? What do you mean, KiRA?" Captain Lucas was confused but seeing the serious look on KiRA’s face was enough for him to understand the gravity of the matter.
"The forests outside the city areas are filled with all kinds of monsters.
The Red Moon enhances their powers, their ferocity, as well as their danger levels.
Now, what do you think would happen if the most dangerous of those monsters were to be affected by them and attack the cities?"
The first hidden route that they could take in this war was to Prevent the worst-case scenario by eliminating the potential great threats beforehand.
"You... you surely don’t mean to go there and fight them head-on, right...?"
Even as a guardian captain, he would hesitate to step out into the forest by himself.
The forest area was filled with all kinds of monsters that were pretty strong even without the presence of the Red Moon.
They were of high level and there were just too many of them.
Fighting those things by themselves would be courting death. And if they were talking about the ones that are more difficult to handle, he was doubtful if even KiRA could deal with those things by himself.
"We don’t have to fight them directly, captain. So don’t worry about it at all."
He had a plan.
He needed someone like the captain with his specific set of skills and abilities for a specific task.
If he agreed to accompany them, his work would become much easier. In case he does not go with them, things would be a little complicated.
That does not mean the task will become impossible, just more time-consuming.
"So? Captain Lucas?"
The plan was simply to take the elites and bosses down before the start of the Red Moon. That was the first step.
Then he would have to make a lot of money and invest in the cities’ infrastructure and improve a thing or two.
The time was very limited so he needed to be quick on his feet, but in case he succeeded, he would end the cycle of misery and dread that all the natives in their mind were aware of.
"Well, I guess there’s no problem with hearing you out."
That was the verbal agreement.
"Alright. Thanks, captain."
And with that handshake and the branding of his Authority, KiRA would make the contract official with only a thumbprint.
