Tower's Richest Player: My Coins Won't Stop Increasing
Chapter 140: With conclusion comes new beginnings
CHAPTER 140: WITH CONCLUSION COMES NEW BEGINNINGS
"No, this doesn’t make any sense. How can you do so much and still be so low on the contribution rankings?" Izzy asked with a frustrated look.
It was he who should be the highest in the contribution rankings since he not only took down the Dark slime in their city but also a ton of monsters, as well as the demon alongside Ziggy’s teacher.
His contribution as the commander should also be recognised by the system, and yet he wasn’t even in the top ten of the contribution rankings.
"How are you in 12th place?! Isn’t there some kind of problem with this?" She really believed the rankings were wrong.
Captain Rose, who landed the final hit during the demon fight, was at the top of the contribution rankings.
Then there was the Saintess of the association, who had also handled three cities by herself during the waves.
Dame Althea was after her in the contribution, then the Professor from the association, the Divine Spear from the eastern alliance, then Ziggy, then the twin duo, who apparently worked with a powerful mage captain guardian from a different city.
A dark swordsman who god knows where might have appeared from, then it was Izzy, and before KiRA, another guild master of the eastern alliance was listed as the top contributor.
Even though they had not done much to begin with, the contribution rankings were made like this.
Her telepathy skill that helped everyone during their battles should have made more contributions, but she was still only 10th in the rankings.
Yet, instead of worrying about herself, she was complaining about KiRA’s rankings instead.
"It’s not that surprising, dummy. That’s just how the rankings for the battles are counted during the 3rd floor quest."
KiRA did not want to go into the specifics since he knew there would be no easy way to explain the contribution breakdown.
It wasn’t just about how many monsters were killed or how well the battle was led throughout the night, but there was much more to the contribution calculations than what met the eye.
’The system primarily graded the performance on how much of one’s strength they used during the battles alongside everything else.’
In KiRA’s case, being the only person to possess an Authority made his contribution levels significantly lower compared to the other players.
Technically, he was ahead of the rest of them, which must have been the reason behind his lower rankings.
But then again, he was happy with this result as he sipped on his warm cup of coffee in the office of the 12th city.
"Let’s not worry too much about the ranks, ok? I’m still pretty high up in the rankings anyway. There isn’t much to worry about here.
Besides, we did get extra rewards for the unique achievements aside from the contribution rewards, right?"
Before the two on the desk, four items were sitting with a unique glow surrounding them.
The four items were the rewards that the two had received for their contributions to the floor’s quest.
Of the four, two were unique boxes that would provide items of a certain rank to them, the basic rewards they received for their contributions.
The Purple box that Izzy revived would give her a C-Rank item while KiRA’s box would reward him with a D-Rank item.
While there was only one rank difference between the two item boxes, since they were going to be random things, a higher rank box would naturally have better odds of having a better item.
At least, that’s how it was perceived by the people in normal cases.
’This is good as well.’
KiRA was happier to receive a lower-ranked item box as well. In fact, he believed himself to be pretty lucky with the rewards this time.
’That guy won’t be able to resist this.’
KiRA smirked in a certain manner, looking a little sinister and a little shady.
Izzy gave him a look of irritation, knowing very well there must be something strange going through his dumb mind once again.
"Are we staying here for a while longer?" Ignoring his little train of thoughts, she asked him a new question.
And, looking at the remaining two items that they received for all their special achievements, he nodded with a satisfied expression.
"We will be going back by tomorrow afternoon. Let’s wrap things up here and go on a little date before going home." He suggested with a smile, and the suggestion instantly painted a smile on her face.
"We’re going to have fun? Really? We aren’t going to work for the rest of the days?" A little stunned, she couldn’t help asking those questions.
But he simply gave her a nod along with a smile, "You can go have fun. I’ll finish things here, and we can go to the celebration party later."
All the natives of all the cities were going to celebrate their victory, and many of the players who had played key roles in the battles shouldn’t possibly miss this celebration.
Though before they celebrate, KiRA needed to work on a few things.
"Wait, really~? I can go already~?" She thought they would be working right after the long night of the battle. But that wasn’t the case.
"Yeah. Also, take this with you. It’s yours, after all." KiRA picked up the bow that Izzy was rewarded with for her achievement earlier.
It was a magic weapon that could produce Mana arrows, and for a magic warrior like her, it was the perfect weapon.
"Hun? But..." However, she was a close combat mage. She didn’t really use long-range weapons, and she also didn’t know how to use a bow in battle.
KiRA was far more proficient with a bow, and especially ones like this, so she wanted to give it to him.
But it didn’t seem like he wanted her thoughtful gift.
"I’ll teach you how to use it, so keep it on you for now, alright? Who knows when you might need to use a long-range weapon?" He spoke those words as if to hint at something else.
But she didn’t catch that. She didn’t really care much after she heard he would teach her directly.
"Hehe, you can’t go back on your words, ok~? You’re gonna teach me this~." She immediately picked up the white-gold bow with rose-like decorations around it.
A gleeful smile on her pretty face now. The useless weapon she didn’t really like much had just turned into a prized possession for her.
"Of course, I’ll teach you. Though... you do know it’s not going to be easy, right?" With a new smirk on his face, Kai moved his hands around the final reward he had received for his achievements.
Resembling a magic crystal ball, this golden Glass ball was something that was going to help the Guild immensely.
It was a special item that would create a healing field where they could train for much longer without resting... a magical tool that was only found in royal training halls on the 15th floor and above.
He received it for all of his achievements on this floor, and as useful as it may be for the guild...
"Umm, ah... yeah. I know it’s not going to be... easy. Still! I’ll look forward to it!" She had mixed feelings about this whole situation now.
She wanted to learn from him and have fun with the process of learning, but as brutal as he was, she knew it would not be painless.
"I’ll see you soon! Don’t be late!" She needed a little more time to process this new opportunity, so she bid her farewell and ran out of the room with a flushed face.
"That girl..." He did that intentionally to chase her out, but seeing that look at the end simply made him smile once again.
Teaching her would not be that difficult. She was a fast learner... a good, fast learner.
From all their time together, he knew she would master the bow within a week, so he wouldn’t have to give much time to her.
With time, she will find the bow more useful as well. It was going to be a good addition to her skill set, ultimately.
"So..."
She forgot her item box, so he placed it away in his inventory along with the other box and the golden crystal ball.
Then, KiRA opened the forum and pulled out all the report data that had been collected after the end of the night.
"Death and damages..." He looked through the data, his heart aching at the numbers present on the screen.
His fists were clenched tightly right now. Even after doing so much, the number of both deaths and damages was higher than his predictions.
The monsters were powerful, and some losses were inevitable; he knew that already.
And yet, even after doing so much, more of the players... Many of the natives had lost their lives in just one night.
"Why are we even celebrating?"
Tears lingered at the edge of his eyes and stayed there as the sadness and pain in those red eyes turned into motivation and anger.
"Haaa..." what was done could not be changed anymore. Moving forward, that is what he needed to do.
"System, pull up the Data files for the event The Night Of the Red Moon."
[Ding]
[Request forwarded to the Event Owner.]
"There’s no need for-."
[Ding!]
Since he had Uni’s skill, he didn’t really need the owner’s permission for something so small.
But, before he could even ask Unity to use her skill, a new window popped up before him.
[Access granted.]
[Ding!]
[Note from the Event Owner: "Thanks for your contribution".]
"Oh..."
It was unexpected. You don’t get any input, notes, or messages from the owner of the events on the lower or middle floors.
’They are considered insignificant. But, I guess this time was different.’
A little smile blossomed over the saddened face.
Though it was momentary.
"Haaa..."
A sigh followed the momentary joy, and he returned to his work.
"Uni."
"Viv~!"
He needed to make a detailed analysis of everything that went on during this floor’s quest.
He will add his insights and his scenarios and make it public so that the guilds and the association can learn from it.
With that, perhaps people will have an easier time on the next floors.
At least, they will hopefully not make some dumb mistakes that were made during the battles on this floor.
