CHAPTER 156: IN TRANSIT

There isn’t much you can do in a military aircraft since they have their own rules and regulations.

The night flights are even more secure since there have been cases where criminals with player powers and skills tried to hijack a weaponised aircraft and then threatened to crash it into a city.

The association had to take special precautions because of cases like these. They needed to make the travel as safe for the passengers as they could, meaning the people in each of these big aircrafts were still only a few.

They were given separate cabins all to themselves which were also further fortified with unique techs and magic barriers. KiRA was pretty impressed by the plane when he entered it as well as when he reached his assigned cabin.

The place was much better than first class from a reputable airline. They had made it for the special individuals who could still afford the tens of thousands of flight costs in IX.

It wasn’t much for them but still, the service was good.

It was also nighttime so KiRA should have been sleeping right now, just like the rest of the people on board.

’Hmmm...’

But it was a short flight. And he wasn’t tired anymore.

He had already had a good rest earlier after their conversation with the white crow and he was still feeling fresh.

So, instead of sleeping, he was looking around the place with the help of his little bird.

’It’s mostly a modern tech, but there’s so much magic engineering used. Spell circles, even enchantments. They have done a good job with these things.’

KiRA was genuinely surprised by how good these things were.

The guards stationed here were also pretty amazing. They were all players in their high 20s in level, with stats that weren’t comparable to the regular players in the same level category.

They were strong, had skills perfect for combat, and potential to go even further.

Just like how they may have been special individuals who had dedicated their lives for their countries in special forces, they were individuals with skill and experience.

None of the special passengers would have anything to worry about with their presence around this place.

’Hmmm... how about we go out then?’

KiRA asked Uni to go around the entire plane once again and then outside, into the vast world, under the starry sky that KiRA could not see well from the inside.

There was a glass window by their side but the things that he was seeing weren’t as fun as what he wanted to see.

The beauty of the sky above was much greater from this height. They were also pretty high up into the sky for the first time so he knew he would try to see how things looked from the outside.

He wanted the full view of the things so, he asked Unity to slip outside of the plane, and with the help of her tiny body that was mostly energy, she somehow found an exit and slipped outside of the plane.

The process was not something one needed to worry about so, KiRA did not mind it either. What they found outside of the plane was something that had taken all his words away anyway so he focused on the nightly blanket that he was seeing through Uni’s eyes.

[{ "It’s... so pretty." }]

Above him were stars, countless starts. The blanket of stars above him were simply too attractive.

This wasn’t just the night sky of their world. What he was seeing right now was the uppermost layer of Mana that was condensing above them.

With the towers, their world was constantly changing. There were many things that had changed, the field that he was going to be the prime example, but there were still so many things that had yet not taken root in this world.

Mana, the mystical energy of the unique worlds, was only one of the examples of it.

The gates that connected different places around the world with the different floors of the towers, the dungeons that influenced the higher beings in one way, the direct communication of the tower’s elements with their world... all of these things were still growing.

As more time passes, things will become more connected. The tower’s beings will come here and the world that they knew would change forever.

Whether or not they are able to take down the tower by reaching the last floor remains a mystery, but whatever happens, they were going to move forward, and obtain the thing which they wanted the most– the right to their survival.

[{ It sure is pretty, master. But... Why do you feel so at ease right now? Haven’t we seen many prettier skies already? }]

Uni’s question was obvious and valid. There were many prettier skies within the tower.

The stars that they were seeing right now, the various clusters of Mana that seemed like a star, the things that they were mistaken as something attractive were simply energies and clusters of energies in Unity’s eyes.

As a being who had been above the gods, above everything else that existed, these things weren’t that big of a deal to her. What she truly found pretty was all inside of the tower, but they weren’t going to see any of that anytime soon.

There was still a long way ahead of them before they could reach those floors with much prettier skies than this one, so Unity could pretty much understand KiRA was happy that they got to see at least this much.

But then why was he so emotional as he watched the blanket of stars, that moonless sky on this night of a new moon, those lonely clouds, the plane moving at an unbelievable speed upon which a single bird was sitting while defying gravity...

[{ "It’s not that complicated, Uni. It’s just that this is the outside world, and not the tower." }]

Calling it the outside world instead of his own world was significant. Unity understood the implication instantly, and adding it with what KiRA was feeling right now, she understood why this simple scene was so pretty for him.

[{ I understand... The changing world is what you like about this scenery. }]

The change.

[{ "Yeah." }]

She was right about this, but there was a tiny element that needed to be added onto it.

[{ "The change caused by the tower. Something we have been well familiar with all along." }]

The tower... KiRA watched with Uni’s vision and coil see various towers at certain distances that pierced the sky and went all the way up in space.

They were so tall that they were almost touching the earth’s different atmospheric layers. The dense Mana layers up here were also the result of these towers.

Still, not much was known about the outside of the tower’s peaks thanks to all the monsters that had already made the peaks of the tower their home.

They were also not something that the current players could handle. A level-100 monster was something dangerous, something one cannot see in the same light as the rest of the beings.

They were not for the current players so the Association had been researching them for a while now.

However, KiRA already knew about them... just like how he knew about the Mana phenomenon that no one was paying attention... or how they would not be able to travel in a plane as weak as this one in a few months.

[{ "The players would have a class by then though so, the era of magic engineering, actual enchantments, and engravings would arrive." }]

KiRA sat back on his seat with a blanket on him and his eyes closed, lost in the world of outside that only the two of them could see.

Unity, sitting on top of a moving aircraft like it was the most normal thing for her, watched the scenery around her with great interest.

She wanted to learn more about the world that her master had lived in until now.

She was a resident of the tower as well as a being that had done a lot in her previous turn in the Tower of Beginning. Here, she still had a lot to do much more to achieve.

With the help of her master, she knew she would regain the powers that she once possessed, but there were still ways she could regain a few of her skills on her own.

And she wanted to try doing that now that they were going to a field.

’Viiiii~.’ (I’ll do my best!)

She wanted to help her master even more. Just giving a few little buffs and helping him with sharing their vision was not her limit.

She had more skills than any other being in this tower, more powers than anyone could imagine.

She was restricted by the tower severely but not for long.

She will break out of these bonds with time, regaining her skills and authorities, pushing the curses and restrictions back to the damned tower.

Beyond her ability to access the system, she will help him go against the very laws that governed it... she will do all that she had previously done for her beloved master, and more.

With this new chance given to her, she will do much more than what they had done in the previous tower.

Helping him was her sole ambition. And, as a bird that takes her oaths the most seriously, she will justify their original oath once again by achieving the end goal of this round– the survival of their world.
