CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: BROTHER?!

Ring ring ring——

Ruan Li closed her eyes, stretching one hand outside the blanket to grope around on the bedside table.

"Hello?" She murmured sleepily, her voice soft like fluffy sweet cotton candy.

The man on the other end of the line lifted his wrist, suddenly falling silent.

"Ruan Li, you’re still not up?" The man’s voice was gentle, yet carried an imperceptible chill.

"Hmm... I’ve already had breakfast, about to head out..."

In her consciousness, she was still on the phone, answering fluently.

"...I’ll be downstairs in ten minutes, come home with me; our parents miss you." Lu Muyu pinched his nose, a pair of cold, thin eyes gazing at the second floor.

The curtains were drawn, blocking his view, and he sat cross-legged on the aircraft’s pilot seat, withdrawing his gaze and focusing on the screen projected by the Smart Brain.

This stupid and troublesome sister of his... played the video.

Thus, the man who received no response quietly watched Ruan Li’s sleeping face for a long time.

Until the ten-minute countdown ended, Lu Muyu stepped down from the aircraft, openly unlocked the main door.

Xu Mo, sitting on the sofa, lifted his eyelids, saw the man’s silhouette, and withdrew his gaze thoughtfully.

Bai He stood at the bottom of the stairs on the first floor and nodded in greeting to Lu Muyu.

Lu Muyu’s eyebrows carried a hint of a smile, but his voice made one involuntarily sit upright, "At this hour, you still let her sleep?"

Bai He paused, explaining, "She had something last night and came home rather late."

"Something at a nightclub?"

The man’s questioning tone made Bai He purse his lips, unable to explain.

Neither Bai He nor Xu Mo knew exactly what happened last night.

Yet, it was evident that as the female head’s brother, it was indisputable for him to question Bai He.

Lu Muyu’s video call on the Smart Brain wasn’t disconnected, so he could see his silly sister sleeping soundly, even mumbling something, "Waking up... so delicious..."

Lu Muyu stood at the bedroom door, knocked three times.

He received no response.

His long fingers operated the electronic lock with ease, successfully unlocking it.

Ruan Li was dreaming of herself at a chocolate cotton candy dream factory, playing while eating, when suddenly a cold snake stuck its tongue out, staring directly at her with its dark and cold eyes.

Startled awake, Ruan Li saw a strange man standing by her bedside.

"You!"

The greeting that almost slipped out was forcibly stifled.

She recognized her "Ruan Li" foster family’s brother!

"...Brother, why are you here," her voice was weak, like a bunny with its tail tucked between its legs.

"How else would I know what my stupid sister did last night?" Lu Muyu smirked, a cold gaze in his eyes, watching Ruan Li shrink back under her blanket.

"Me?" Ruan Li thought of her escapades last night and knew she was doomed. Though Lu Muyu was not her biological brother, he usually wouldn’t pay much attention to her various affairs, but if she crossed the line, Ruan Li would undoubtedly be sternly lectured by him.

For a female, visiting a nightclub is extremely dangerous behavior.

Lu Muyu’s explicit ban included this rule.

"Brother, I can explain," Ruan Li briefly recounted last night’s events to Lu Muyu.

"If not for some reason, you wouldn’t be in bed now," Lu Muyu’s lips curled, one side of his gold-rimmed glasses reflecting light.

"Get up now, I’ll take you home for a visit; you haven’t been back in half a year, and our parents miss you very much."

"Oh okay, I’ll get up now." Reluctantly, Ruan Li crawled out from under the blanket, with a head full of messy hair, ran into the bathroom.

Lu Muyu squinted slightly, feeling his sister had somehow changed.

As if even dumber.

After finishing her grooming, Ruan Li saw Lu Muyu sitting in a chair, engrossed in handling affairs.

Her brother was a businessman, seemingly running a department store.

Ruan Li, still in her pajamas, saw Lu Muyu remain motionless; constrained by her memory of his ruthless stereotype, she dared only to stand silently by the wall.

Lu Muyu had long noticed her after finishing her grooming, like a facing-the-wall punishment next to him, head down looking at the floor; one unaware might think she was being punished.

Six months of no contact, estranged even more.

Lu Muyu actually found this sister quite troublesome; she was not fond of speaking and her emotions were prone to breaking, yet females are generally delicate, which is understandable.

But she even argued with the parents, ignoring her words.

Half a year ago, Ruan Li insisted on living alone, even quarreled causing Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu to feel hurt; Lu Muyu only learned about this later through a call.

He rarely returned home since starting work, and his impression of Ruan Li lingered in a pale floral dress and a silent disposition; though privately she liked bullying boys and girls.

Lu Muyu later learned about Ruan Li’s life after marriage, just as he expected.

However, it seemed now his sister had become foolishly kind.

Of course, but the nightclub incident was not over.

Lu Muyu shut down the Smart Brain, "Ruan Li, come home with me first; I won’t tell our parents about the nightclub, but you need to seriously reflect upon it."

Ruan Li silently widened her eyes, wanting to refute Lu Muyu, but closed her mouth silently under his cold gaze.

Forget it, the more said, the more wrong, lest her brother discovers she’s not the original one, then it would be troublesome.

Ruan Li obediently nodded.

Lu Muyu’s eyes flashed with surprise.

So obedient?

Lu Muyu said nothing, strode out the door, leaving behind a remark, "Get changed and show up in my aircraft in five minutes."

As soon as Lu Muyu left, Ruan Li quickly selected a dress from her wardrobe she recently bought from the mall, tidied up briefly, slinging a small satchel, ran out like the wind.

"Ruannuan, slow down!" Shi Jue for the first time saw a little female run so fast, couldn’t help but exclaim.

"Got it; I’m going home with my brother, don’t wait for me to return for meals." Ruan Li instructed.

"Don’t need anyone to accompany?" Zhe Ye crossed his arms, stood at the door frame.

"Well..." Ruan Li pondered for a few seconds, "Forget it." Mainly she feared conflicts; Lu Muyu was a man of overwhelming pressure, afraid the little Beast Husband wouldn’t fare well in front of him.

"Alright, stay safe; contact through Smart Brain if anything." Zhe Ye nodded and said.

Upon stepping out the door, Ruan Li saw the sleek, black aircraft that looked understated yet luxurious with substance.

"Four minutes and eleven seconds, fairly timely." Lu Muyu’s indifferent voice echoed, sitting on the sofa, holding a paper document.

Ruan Li grinned awkwardly, then sat at the farthest end of the sofa, trying her best to maintain the longest distance from Lu Muyu.

Lu Muyu obviously knew her little maneuver.

"How’s your health recently?"

Ruan Li hesitated in the stagnant air for a few seconds, reluctantly replied, "Still okay."

"Hmm, this is the latest drug from the Research Institute, said to enhance females’ healing abilities," Lu Muyu handed over a small blue vial to Ruan Li.
