CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: FEDERATION COMMANDER

Excellent females do not lack male companions, and Ruan Li’s identity further ensures that she will capture the attention of all the Beastmen present.

After all, she is a female from two of the Empire’s great families.

Even though she was abandoned by the Ruan Family for being a failure in healing abilities.

But with a mother hailed as the Light of the Empire and favored by the Lu Family, who would dare ridicule her?

Lu Mufeng cast a cold gaze over him, without saying anything.

Seeing Lu Mufeng leave, Ruan Li wanted to pull her arm away, but was held by Lu Muyu.

"In such a hurry to leave? Is there a male Beastman here that’s caught your eye?" Lu Muyu bent down and whispered in Ruan Li’s ear. He was smiling, but his gaze swept across a few ill-intentioned, eager male Beastmen.

The cold warning in his eyes immediately made those restless ones hold back their thoughts for the moment.

Ruan Li glared at Lu Muyu, lowered her voice: "What nonsense are you saying."

Lu Muyu curled his lips, explaining nothing.

He pulled Ruan Li towards another area.

A sleek black spacecraft slowly stopped at the welcome entrance, and many instantly recognized the unique insignia of the flying eagle.

"It’s the Federation Commander!"

Someone exclaimed in surprise.

As the hatch opened, a black cloak billowed in the wind, a face of noble coldness appeared before the crowd, and every crease in his deep blue military uniform outlined his strong lines. When the man raised his eyes, his cold gaze swept through like wind and snow, making one’s heart chill yet filled with awe.

Chu Ying, accompanied by his deputy, handed over the invitation at the entrance, registered, and then entered the venue.

On the other side, Ruan Li was repeatedly advised by Lu Muyu not to flirt around.

Ruan Li touched her nose, complained inwardly—when did she flirt around!

She found a chair in the corner, just about to sit down only to sadly discover that the skirt hoop made it impossible for her to sit gracefully.

There were a few others around, though none noticing her, but if she just lifted her skirt hoop to sit down, she might just end up on tomorrow’s headlines.

The smart brain on her wrist buzzed; it was a message from Zhe Ye.

[Zhe Ye: Ruannuan, I’m attending the banquet with the military unit, where are you?]

Ruan Li told Zhe Ye her location.

Not long after, she saw an officer in uniform approaching her, the outfit closely fitting his body, with the jacket fully covering the firm upper body, yet she could imagine the well-defined muscles under the shirt.

"Why are you staying in such a secluded spot?" Zhe Ye walked up to her and asked quietly.

Ruan Li: "I came with my three brothers, but they turned and left me behind."

Especially Lu Muyu, very annoying, dragged her to the corner for a scolding.

Ruan Li didn’t even know yet, about how her extravagant heroic act of saving someone in distress was known to all three brothers.

Lu Muyu even personally stepped in, using an Empire residency permit and a sum of money trying to dismiss the Beastman, only for the person to reject all aids proudly.

Zhe Ye saw Ruan Li’s vivid anger, chuckled: "Next to the banquet hall there are special female rest areas, each with separate rooms allocated. I’ll take you there."

Ruan Li took small quick steps, following beside Zhe Ye.

Lu Muyu had just sent off another Beastman who approached to converse, turning back to find the little cake missing.

"Off again to flirt somewhere, eh."

The man caught the lingering scent of a Beastman in the air, involuntarily gritting his back teeth.

Ruan Li entered the room, closed the door, and lifted the skirt hoop before sitting down on the soft bed.

After confirming that he had taken her to the room, Zhe Ye left, after all, an officer couldn’t avoid socializing.

The banquet officially started at six in the evening, Su Luoyin found Ruan Li and tidied her slightly messy dress and hair, before taking her to the banquet.

Dusk fell, starry skies above.

At the center in front of the banquet hall, the Empress of the Empire, donned in splendid attire, delivered an official statement to all guests.

Ruan Li treated it like a principal’s speech, zoning out halfway until Su Luoyin gave her a friendly nudge, prompting her to attentively raise her head again.

The statement finally concluded after more than half an hour.

Ruan Li sneaked a stretch for her sore legs beneath the dress, while Su Luoyin pulled her to socialize with the royal females.

Ruan Li dutifully played the part of a smiling vase.

After standing for almost another hour, she could no longer hold on.

Seeing she truly couldn’t endure anymore, Su Luoyin let her leave to grab some desserts and return to the rest room.

Sneakily, Ruan Li made her way to the corner food stand, picked two cakes with her plate, and a glass of soda.

She saw Lu Mufeng, almost surrounded by others, and was about to leave when she happened to meet eyes with Lu Muyu, who was conversing with someone.

The man stared at her for several moments. Ruan Li didn’t understand, thinking he was mocking her. She snorted softly, deciding to be the adult in this situation.

Lu Muyu had just sent off a rather influential businessman, only to turn around finding that fluffy little cake nowhere in sight.

Where had she wandered off to, didn’t he just signal her to wait for a moment?

The courtyard was dark, illuminated only by a few dim street lamps.

In the thick bushes, there were faint, suppressed painful breaths. The man’s cold, piercing eyes were tinted with the agony of struggle, his hand covering a stomach wound oozing black blood, he took out an emergency healing potion from the Space Hub, bit off the cap and drank it down. The burning pain slowly subsided, yet thin sweat had already covered the man’s face.

His slightly messy hair clung with cold sweat, looking somewhat disheveled.

But very quickly, stumbling footsteps disrupted the brief tranquility.

A female dressed like a soft little cake, face flushed, walked clumsily forward, nearly tripping herself with each step, yet managed to maintain her walk with a completely nonexistent sense of balance.

The man noticed the bottle in her hand; a little female fond of drinking?

He furrowed his brow slightly, watching as Ruan Li almost fell with every step.

Finally, as she was about to fall, the man breathed out, catching her just before she made contact with the ground.

A brisk, fir-like chill swirled around Ruan Li, she groggily looked up at the man, unable to see clearly, muttering: "Why are there three people."

Holding the little female in his arms, Chu Ying found this situation a bit tricky.

After all, she was an esteemed female of the Empire, and if someone saw them in such intimate contact, it would surely lead to unfavorable comments about both.

Yet it wasn’t ethical to leave a drunken female unattended.

Chu Ying scanned around, realizing no one else was nearby, he then carried the little female further into the bushes, before setting her down.

Perhaps finding her family might be possible.

Chu Ying directed his gaze to Ruan Li’s smart brain on her wrist, attempting to use facial recognition to open it.

[Recognition Failed!]
