CHAPTER 565: CHAPTER 558: ANOTHER PREGNANCY

Only later did Sisi learn how Zhenbang had plotted against Xingbang, and it was quite the scheme he’d come up with.

Turns out, Zhenbang, seeing Brother Li, who had always been a playboy, about to become a father in six months, while he himself might never be able to, was utterly devastated.

The more desperate he became to have a son, the more he wanted to convince his brother to donate sperm. But Xingbang was incredibly stubborn and refused to budge, which drove Zhenbang to desperation, especially since it was Linglong’s optimal time for conception.

Thus, the child-hungry Zhenbang implemented his long-brewing plan. He knocked Xingbang out when he wasn’t looking, then somehow obtained the precious sperm, froze it with ice, and rushed it to the hospital for artificial insemination with Linglong.

Xingbang’s sperm quality was excellent, and it only took one try for Linglong to successfully conceive. Zhenbang, worried Xingbang might suspect something, sent Linglong back to her parents’ home to lay low until the pregnancy was three months along before announcing it.

However, now that Xingbang had spilled the beans, Zhenbang saw no need to hide it anymore.

Inwardly, Sisi gave Zhenbang the middle finger, thinking how incredibly shrewd he was!

Xingbang was truly miserable, with such a scheming brother, who knew how long it would take to recover from this mental trauma?

These past few days, Sisi had nothing better to do, so she went to watch Brother Chunfeng shoot his film every day. The lead actress was played by Mo Hui, and the male lead was another up-and-coming actor, not as rugged-looking as Brother Li but with a melancholic vibe, especially his charming eyes that could kill.

Brother Li had a cameo role in the film with quite a few scenes, but he was still on his honeymoon period, so he didn’t come to the set much.

Brother Chunfeng had been in a particularly foul mood recently, his face dark as ink, and it wasn’t just the leads but everyone on set who had been at the receiving end of his wrath several times. The expressions on the two main actors’ faces were notably grim.

Sisi handed Brother Chunfeng a cup of ice water. "Brother Chunfeng, have some ice water. You don’t look so well, why don’t you take a break?"

Knowing he had been taking out his anger on others, Chunfeng motioned for the crew to take a break and then started venting to Sisi while holding the cup of ice water.

"Sisi, why on Earth did Brother Li have to marry He Shishi? Doesn’t he know I hold a grudge against the He Family?" lamented Brother Chunfeng as he burst into tears, streaming down his face. He tried to wipe them off with his sleeve but remembered he was wearing a sleeveless tank top. Turning and seeing Sisi’s long-sleeved shirt, he grabbed her sleeve to wipe his eyes.

What a clown!

Sisi was both annoyed and amused by Brother Chunfeng’s antics, so she pulled out a handkerchief from her bag and handed it to him. Brother Chunfeng, truly moved, said, "Sisi, you’re the best to me. That heartless Brother Li, so ungrateful for all the genuine care I’ve given him!"

Brother Chunfeng must have been holding it in for a while because as soon as he gripped Sisi’s handkerchief, he let out a full-blown cry, his wails loud enough to rattle the Heavens and Earth, drawing the attention of everyone on set.

Mo Hui’s face turned even uglier. Just like Brother Chunfeng, she too was heartbroken, but who could she turn to?

Then she remembered the passionate embrace of that night and the morning’s awkwardness, her face blushing hotly with regret at her decision to drown her sorrows in alcohol that night.

After soaking Sisi’s handkerchief through, Brother Chunfeng finally stopped crying, hiccupping and complaining bitterly, "Men are heartless creatures."

Sisi almost burst out laughing; Brother Chunfeng himself was a bona fide man! Wasn’t he effectively insulting himself?

But she dared not provoke the emotionally fragile Brother Chunfeng any further and simply agreed, "Yes, men are heartless. You better stay away from them in the future to avoid getting hurt."

Satisfied, Brother Chunfeng huffed, "The He Family members are no good either, especially that He Shishi, I hate her the most. She’s just like her mom, a vixen through and through."

Sisi couldn’t really agree with that, so she just chuckled awkwardly. Thankfully, after a few curses, Brother Chunfeng quickly regained his composure, transforming back into the authoritative Principal He and resumed shooting.

However, Mo Hui’s performance was particularly poor today, messing up several takes. Brother Chunfeng’s face grew darker by the minute, but seeing Mo Hui’s pale complexion, he held back his criticism and instead gave the crew a break, ending the day’s shooting early.

Mo Hui was indeed feeling very unwell, a sense of tightness in her chest and nausea making her want to vomit. She thought she might be suffering from heatstroke due to the overly hot weather.

Sisi saw that Mo Hui’s complexion was really terrible, so she went with Tian Xinhua to take her to the nearby hospital. Joining them was He Chunfeng.

After examining Mo Hui for a while, the doctor asked her a few questions and then asked her to provide a urine sample. Sisi, who had been accompanying her, found it strange. For a case of heatstroke, shouldn’t an IV drip of saline solution suffice? Why would they need a urine test?

Hospitals in Hong Kong are such a hassle.

Mo Hui was also confused. There were quite a few people waiting for urine tests, so it looked like it would take some time. She felt rather embarrassed and thus suggested that Sisi and the others could go back first, and she would take a taxi home later.

How could Sisi agree to that? Not to mention that Mo Hui was still pale as death, even if she were genuinely well, they couldn’t possibly leave her alone in the hospital.

After waiting for about half an hour, the hospital staff told Mo Hui to go for an ultrasound and handed her a request form for it.

An ultrasound?

Now Sisi felt something was amiss. Was an ultrasound really necessary just for heatstroke?

"Doctor, isn’t Miss Mo just suffering from heatstroke? Why does she need an ultrasound?" Sisi unashamedly inquired.

The doctor, a middle-aged man, looked at Sisi strangely after hearing her question and countered, "Who told you Miss Mo was suffering from heatstroke?"

"Then what is it?" Sisi and Mo Hui were both confused.

"Pregnant. It looks to be about four and a half weeks. However, Miss Mo’s physical condition is not great; there are signs of a possible miscarriage," the doctor announced gravely.

The news shocked Sisi and Mo Hui out of their wits.

Pregnant!

Mo Hui’s first thought was of that night. How could it be possible? Pregnant from just one night? How could this happen?

Sisi’s immediate reaction was to snatch the doctor’s ultrasound request and the medical record book, dragging the dazed Mo Hui out. This silly girl, usually seeming so clever, how could she not even be aware of her own pregnancy?

If the paparazzi got wind of this, who knows how they would write about Mo Hui?

After getting Mo Hui into the car, Sisi sent He Chunfeng and Tian Xin away and then asked Mo Hui, "Ah Hui, what do you plan to do?"

Now regaining her senses, Mo Hui looked frightened, "Sisi, I don’t know, how could this happen?"

"You can discuss this with the father of the child, after all, it’s a matter concerning both of you," Sisi suggested.

"No!"

Mo Hui objected subconsciously. After a brief panic, she quickly returned to her usual composure, managing a forced smile, "Please just take me home, I’ll handle this properly."

Sisi had no choice but to call back the bewildered Tian Xin and He Chunfeng and take Mo Hui home. On the way back, she kept wondering who the father of the child could be?

Mo Hui was a conservative girl and moreover, her heart was set on He Chunfeng, so how could she have gotten involved with another man?
