CHAPTER 678: CHAPTER 671: FEINT TO THE EAST, STRIKE TO THE WEST

Sisi called Yang Shu and Shangguan Qing from the car, informing them of the direction Du Du and the other two were heading.

It was already eleven o’clock at night. Xiaoye and the young man in the driver’s seat had fallen asleep, while Jing Shang kept his eyes wide open as he watched ahead, with Brother Lei now in control of the wheel.

"Mr. Jing Shang, aren’t you going to sleep for a while?" Brother Lei said.

"I’m not sleepy," Jing Shang replied, forcing himself to stay alert.

Brother Lei found it amusing. His eyelids were already drooping, yet he claimed he wasn’t sleepy. Wasn’t he just afraid that I’d make a move on him?

Hmph, even if I were to make a move, it wouldn’t be now. The fifteen million hasn’t even been secured yet!

However, Du Du in the back of the car was as spirited as ever. Throughout the journey, he occasionally tossed a durian out. The pieces of clothing were too small to serve as markers, but the large and pungent durians were bound to catch the attention of mom and dad.

But Uncle Mo and Huahua still hadn’t woken up. Even though he prided himself on his intelligence, he didn’t know what to do.

He couldn’t possibly carry two unconscious people by himself!

"Du Du, mommy put this jade bottle around your neck. Remember, in an emergency, take out a pill and you’ll be surprised!"

His mother’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind. Du Du’s eyes lit up as he pulled a crystal-clear jade bottle the size of a small adult fingertip from around his neck.

Upon unscrewing the lid, a fragrant aroma wafted out, instantly refreshing him. Inside, there were only six black pills that resembled rat droppings, completely at odds with their pleasant smell.

Du Du gritted his teeth and placed one pill each into the mouths of Mo Liu and Huahua. Wasn’t now an emergency? It should be useful, right?

Sisi’s precautions proved effective. These six pills were Sisi’s way of concentrating the medicinal wine into a more portable form. One pill had the efficacy of one hundred milliliters of medicinal wine, thus six pills equated to a whole bottle. Generally, as long as someone wasn’t instantly dead, they could be saved.

Lucky for them, Du Du remembered the jade bottle; otherwise, escaping would’ve been so much harder.

The pills’ effect was significant. Mo Liu was the first to wake, followed soon by Huahua. Du Du quickly covered their mouths, hushing them to stay silent.

"Third Brother, I’m hungry," Huahua complained.

Du Du handed her a sticky item. "Eat this, it smells terrible, but it tastes surprisingly good."

Huahua pinched her nose. She really didn’t want to eat such a stinky thing, worse than the eggs Aunt Sisi used to boil in urine. Yet her stomach was growling fiercely, leaving her no choice but to bite into it with her eyes closed. Upon the first bite, she opened her eyes wide and started eating faster.

Why do stinky things end up tasting delicious?

After consuming half a durian, Huahua finally felt full and much more energetic.

Mo Liu also ate most of a durian. Looking guiltily at the two kids, he hated his own uselessness, unable even to protect them!

Useless, just a scholar!

Mo Liu now deeply understood the helplessness in that phrase.

"Uncle Mo, those people are from R country. It seems they want to take us there. We must think of a way to jump off the car before reaching R country, or it will be all over," Du Du whispered his plan as they finished their meal.

R country people?

Mo Liu immediately thought of Tanaka Baihui, that pervert, and it was like a knife twisting in his heart. It was all his fault for dragging Du Du and Huahua into this!

No, he must help the kids escape, even if it costs him his life. They could not fall into Tanaka’s perverted hands.

"Alright, let’s jump off the car," Mo Liu nodded resolutely.

"When the speed slows down, we’ll jump. For now, let’s wait at the back," Du Du instructed, crawling towards the back first.

The hard spikes of the durians pricked their exposed skin, causing pain, but they all gritted their teeth, staying silent. Any noise might alert the people in the cab, which would be disastrous.

Upon reaching the back, their hearts sank. These people weren’t driving just one car. The glaring lights from a following truck almost exposed them. Jumping off the car would surely get them spotted.

"Third Brother, what do we do?" Huahua asked.

Mo Liu didn’t expect Tanaka Baihui would send so many people to catch him. He regretted it deeply, especially because he hadn’t brought the spray Sisi gave him, deeming it too bulky. Yet, he did have another item, which comforted him slightly. With gritted teeth, he resolved to ensure the kids’ escape. "Du Du, Huahua, I’ll jump first. Once they’re off the car, you follow. Understand?"

Mo Liu planned to distract them. Tanaka Baihui wanted his body, so he wasn’t immediately in danger. However, Du Du and Huahua were different; ruthless people might harm them.

"No, we won’t leave Uncle Mo behind. We go together," Huahua objected first.

Du Du also disagreed. He and Huahua had some self-protection skills, but Uncle Mo was just a defenseless scholar. Who knew what fate awaited him in these people’s hands?

Seeing the kids’ determination, Mo Liu didn’t argue further but made up his mind internally. He knew Du Du and Huahua were adept and without his burden, escaping should be no issue.

As they silently waited, when the car slowed at a bend, Mo Liu abruptly said, "Remember what Uncle said, escape and find help for Uncle."

Before Du Du and Huahua could react, Mo Liu leaped out. A muffled groan followed, and they saw Mo Liu limping towards the roadside fields. It seemed like he was fleeing blindly, but Du Du and Huahua knew that Uncle Mo was giving them the mountains on the other side.

"The big one escaped, chase him!"

At the shout, all three cars stopped, and over a dozen people jumped out, cursing as they pursued Mo Liu.

"Jump off!"

Du Du whispered to Huahua as they leapt off. They landed smoothly without a sound.

"Let’s go!"

Du Du grabbed Huahua’s hand, and they crouched as they ran towards the mountains. Everyone in the vehicles had gone after Mo Liu, leaving none. Therefore, Du Du and Huahua could quickly make it halfway up the mountain without resistance.

Meanwhile, Mo Liu, already injured from jumping, was soon captured despite his utmost effort. Brother Lei was furious and wanted to beat Mo Liu, but Jing Shang stopped him.

"Our mistress said he is not to be harmed in the slightest."

Brother Lei spat on the ground in anger and walked back dejectedly.

Once back in the car, Jing Shang didn’t stash Mo Liu in the compartment but kept him beside him in view. He didn’t fully trust Brother Lei’s group; they had promised that even an elephant could sleep for a day with the drug, so how had this man awakened?

Recalling the drug’s effects, Jing Shang’s expression changed, and he hurried back to the compartment. Seeing it empty, he cursed, "Baka!"

"The two little ones have escaped!" Jing Shang grimly informed Brother Lei.

In the back compartment, Mo Liu beamed, feeling a profound relief. A smile appeared on his lips as he closed his eyes, pretending to sleep.
