Chapter 112: The Embrace of the Goddess
And then the woman said to Dila, her voice soft yet filled with warmth, "Are you hurt somewhere?" And yet she already knew, though, as if she had witnessed every torment Dila had endured. Her smile was gentle, almost sorrowful, and she fell silent after the question, letting the weight of the moment settle.
Dila's lips trembled, and tears welled in her eyes. "Yes," she whispered, her voice cracking, "I've seen hell… constantly in my life. I don't know what to do anymore… I… I…" Her chest shook as despair clung to her, leaving her fragile and broken.
The woman leaned closer, her finger brushing against Dila's lips in a comforting gesture. "Shsssss…" she murmured, her tone tender and soothing. She smiled softly, her gaze full of unwavering reassurance. "It's okay… calm down, girl." The warmth in her words wrapped around Dila like a fragile thread of hope.
And then Dila calmed down, her breathing slowing as the tight knot of fear and pain loosened inside her. Her eyes lifted, meeting the woman's gaze for the first time, and a soft blush colored her cheeks. The woman simply smiled, serene and patient, and Dila quickly looked away, her lips barely parting in a whispered, "So beautiful…"
The woman's smile deepened, gentle and warm, as she replied softly, "Thank you."
And then Dila clung tightly to the woman, unable to hold back any longer. Her body trembled violently as she sobbed into the woman's shoulder. "My life… it's a shambles… I… I can't take it anymore… I don't even know where to live at this point… so many battles… so many problems…" she cried, her voice breaking with every word.
The woman's eyes glimmered with unshed tears, for she had seen it all before, yet her smile remained gentle. Her hand rose to caress Dila's hair softly, her voice a soothing whisper. "It's okay, little girl… hush now… one day, after all your suffering is over, you'll be able to live a proper life… a happy life too."
Dila lifted her head off the women shoulder tear-streaked face, her gaze meeting the woman's. "Really?" she asked, hope flickering in her voice.
"Yes, dear," the woman replied with a warm, gentle smile.
Dila's tears flowed freely as she whispered through her sobs, "Thank you… that means I'm still alive… whaaaaaaaa!" She clung tighter, crying with relief, despair, and a fragile hope all at once.
As Dila continued to cry, her tears streaming uncontrollably, her body trembling with every sob, the woman still held her gently, letting her bury her face in her shoulder. Her voice was soft, calm, and filled with warmth.
"Just let it all out, little girl," she whispered, her hand gently stroking Dila's hair. "Cry as much as you need… every tear is yours to shed."
Dila's sobs only grew louder, her shoulders shaking violently, but within the comfort of the woman's embrace, a small part of her heart began to feel safe, as if the weight of all her suffering could, for a moment, be carried by someone else.
After a long session of crying Dila's chest heaved as the last of her tears fell, leaving her eyes puffy and red. She wiped at her cheeks with trembling hands, then looked up at the woman who had held her through it all.
"Lady… what is your name, really?" Dila asked, her voice quivering.
The woman smiled gently, her golden hair shimmering softly around her. "Promise me… promise me you won't be shocked."
Dila nodded quickly, her lips trembling.
The woman's smile deepened. "I am the Luminous Goddess."
Dila's eyes widened in shock, her whole body jerking back slightly as if she had been struck. "Wa… wa… wa… wa—" she stammered, panic lacing her voice. She levitated of her a little, bowing deeply, her hands pressed together. "I-I'm sorry, my Goddess! I didn't mean to… to whine like that! I… I'm embarrassed!"
She looked away, her face flushed, still trembling. Then, quietly, her voice softened. "I never… never thought you'd be… so beautiful… Goddess."
Luminous chuckled, a soft, melodic sound, her smile warm and gentle, watching Dila with patient amusement.
Luminous's golden eyes sparkled as she spoke, her voice soft and teasing. "Oh… you keep fluttering me, little Dila."
Dila blinked, cheeks warming as she whispered, "Dila…" She hesitated, then added, "How… how did you know my name, Goddess?"
Luminous chuckled, a gentle, melodic sound. "Because… I'm a goddess, of course."
Dila's gaze dropped, and she scuffed at below on endless clouds with her feet floating, her face flushing deeply. "I-I'm… embarrassed," she murmured, covering her face with both hands.
She peeked through her fingers, her voice quivering slightly. "Does… does that mean you've seen all my interactions?"
Luminous giggled softly, the sound like warm sunlight through leaves. "Yes… but not all of it, of course. You need your privacy, little one."
Dila's shoulders relaxed slightly, though a shy heat lingered on her cheeks, caught between awe and the lingering embarrassment.
Dila suddenly said with confident. "Goddess i have a question to ask. Why I'm transmigrated to this world?"
Luminous tilted her head slightly, her golden hair shimmering with the faint glow of the clouds around them. Her right hand rested on her chin as she spoke thoughtfully, "Huh… that's… the question. I didn't know, actually. And I never knew you were transmigrated too… that's… rare." She smiled softly, a trace of curiosity in her gaze.
Dila blinked, her voice small and hesitant. "Really?"
She paused, then asked, "Is there… another god, or someone, that pulled my soul here into this world?"
Luminous pursed her lips, thinking deeply, the air around them humming faintly. "Actually… no. Not at all."
Dila's brow furrowed as she recalled, her mind racing. "When… when I first arrived here… I was sent a task… to kill all the infected demons. I just remember it now… the one that give me the contract is… a distorted beings, like static glitches."
Luminous frowned slightly, her expression serious as she processed the information. "I… never heard of that before."
Dila's confusion deepened, her hands clenching slightly. She looked up at the goddess, eyes wide. "Then… what is going on? Why me?"
Luminous remained silent for a moment, her serene expression thoughtful, the golden light around her softening. "I… don't know, little one. Even I cannot see all the paths that brought you here. But… you survived. That's what matters."
Dila's lips quivered, a mix of relief and puzzlement in her gaze, as the clouds beneath them shimmered gently.
But than..
Dila lowered her voice, her fingers curling against her lap. "Sorry to ask this.... but is there a being that is much more powerful than you? Or maybe someone equal to you... like another god?"
Luminous grew quiet. Her golden eyes softened as if she was gazing far away into the endless skies of time itself. "For long millenniums, I have not seen another god as powerful as me.... nor anyone who could stand on equal footing." Her tone carried no pride, only a lonely truth.
Dila's chest tightened. That answer only made her mind swirl with even more confusion. If such was the case, then what exactly was the balance of this world supposed to be? But she pressed her lips together and didn't dig deeper. For once, she decided not to chase answers that might only break her peace.
But this time Dila shifted her trembling voice to another question.
"Can I ask about the system, Miss Goddess Luminous… please…"
Luminous lowered her gaze, her expression soft but unreadable. "I'm sorry, little Dila… I can't give you information on that. Let's not bring the topic up… you'll only hurt your head. Its complexity is beyond belief."
Dila hesitated, her voice fragile. "Is… is Nari truly a system… or a soul that's trapped too… inside of mine?"
For a moment, silence stretched. Then Luminous finally answered, her tone gentle but heavy. "Yes… a super advanced one. Since it's too advanced… it's like a human, Dila." She gave a small smile, though it carried no further explanation.
Dila slowly nodded, wiping her wet cheeks. She didn't press on anymore. Deep inside, she felt the goddess would not give her any more answers anyway.
And then Dila said softly, "Goddess… thank you for comforting me. But… how will I get out? Or… awake here?"
The Goddess smiled warmly. "Actually, your soul is in Heaven. But I will send your soul back to your body now. Wish you luck, little one. Oh, and… your father is crying really hard for you. Because it's been ten days—ten long days where your body had no breath, no life."
Dila's stomach twisted at her core, and she cried out, "You mean that father of mine mourning for my sudden death? The warlord freak who killed me?"
Luminous only chuckled, brushing a golden strand of hair behind her ear. "Little Dila… don't call your father like that. He's kind to you, you know. But… 'warlord freak' is rather amusing to hear."
She giggled, and Dila deadpanned to herself. "Yeah… kind enough to kill me."
The Goddess chuckled again, her voice like bells. "Actually… it wasn't him who almost killed you. It was your own power. You nearly burned yourself out completely."
Dila's cheeks turned red as she covered her face with both hands, mumbling, "Ahhh, how foolish of me…" Then she let out a nervous, embarrassed laugh. "Hahaha… yeah, silly me…"
Dila wiped the last of her tears, her voice still fragile but steadier now. "Oky... goddess... I'm ready to get back again... to that world."
Luminous looked at her with warmth, her faint glow wrapping around Dila like a mother's embrace. "Then may the future hold your destiny with good luck," she said, her smile carrying both pride and sorrow.
Dila's lips curved into a small smile, soft and trembling. "Thank you..." she whispered.
And then.... before she could take another breath.... the space around her shifted.
A sudden brilliance flooded her vision, swallowing everything in a blinding white radiance. The world itself seemed to dissolve, as if the very air was folding her away. Her heart skipped.... she felt her soul being pulled.... warping back toward the world she lived in.
The gentle warmth of Luminous lingered for only a heartbeat longer, before it too was gone....
