Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches
Vol. 1 - Chapter 370 - Gift
“Cough cough! That’s not being wife-whipped, that’s called respecting your mother!”
Gu WeiJun was so startled by HuMing’s remark that he choked on his own breath.
Rubbing his nose awkwardly, he looked away, clearly flustered.
Meanwhile, HuMing turned back to the bank manager behind them. The man had just set down the jade pendant and was now smiling politely.
“I’ve verified the pendant’s authenticity—it’s indeed the one left by Mr. Gu. Now, if you’d both follow me, please.”
The manager rose and led HuMing and Gu WeiJun deeper into the bank.
They were soon standing in front of a safety deposit box. The manager unlocked it, revealing just two items: a sealed letter, and a nearly rusted key.
“That’s everything Mr. Gu entrusted to us. Also, he left instructions—should you ever arrive to claim the deposit, all the funds in his bank account are to be transferred to your name. I’ll go handle that now, please wait a moment.”
HuMing stood frozen in place.
He’d expected that his second-grandpa had made some preparations, but this? He hadn’t imagined it was all arranged so meticulously.
He picked up the envelope. The paper was aged; this letter had been written a long time ago, waiting only for him to come retrieve it.
[HuMing, if you’re reading this, then I’m most likely already gone. I was diagnosed with cancer some time ago. I’ve long accepted what’s to come.]
[After leaving the Gu family, I kept a close watch on JingDu’s political landscape. Over time, I realized that Shi Zhong was preparing to strike at our family. Because of my status, I couldn’t appear before your grandfather and warn him directly—especially since they were planning to replace you and erase all traces of your real parents.]
[I needed to evaluate the kind of man you would become before I could entrust you with this secret. If you hadn’t proven yourself, I would’ve handled it personally—but that would’ve tipped them off too soon.]
[If you’re reading this now, it means you’ve passed my test. Shi Zhong believes he has everything under control—but he never accounted for me.]
[If I’m right, your uncle’s second son and his wife are probably in the hospital. The attending doctor’s wife was kidnapped as leverage. But don’t worry—she’s safe. I rescued her myself. When the time is right, she’ll reappear. You’ll find her using the address at the bottom of this letter. The key in the box will help you reach her.]
HuMing looked down at the key in his hand.
Even he had to admit—Gu ZhouXing’s foresight was terrifying. While everyone else had been in the dark, the old man had been pulling strings behind the scenes, tying up every loose end.
The person HuMing had been desperately searching for… had been protected by Gu ZhouXing all along.
It was an incredible relief. Thanks to this, Dr. Huang would finally be free from Shi Zhong’s control.
He turned to Gu WeiJun and said solemnly,
“Dad, second-grandpa left us something important—and there’s hope for Second Uncle.”
Gu WeiJun’s eyes widened. “What did you say?”
He’d only tagged along to help HuMing retrieve the deposit. He hadn’t expected this—his second uncle had left them a gift. One that might just save the entire Gu family.
“You’re serious?” he asked.
“Absolutely. He predicted Shi Zhong’s move against the family long ago. That’s why he acted in advance. Dr. Huang’s wife? Already hidden safely by second-grandpa. Shi Zhong never had her in the first place.”
Gu WeiJun inhaled sharply. At last, he understood the full picture.
This really was good news. And more importantly—it meant the Gu family had a fighting chance.
“I see… I’ll tell WeiYi everything. Your second aunt just woke up recently, too. This must really be fate…”
…
HuMing returned to the letter. The remaining pages described Shi Zhong’s secret actions over the years—most of which had been intercepted or sabotaged by Gu ZhouXing.
Even after leaving the family, Gu ZhouXing had been shielding them from the shadows.
HuMing couldn’t help but feel a pang of emotion. If not for special circumstances back then, Shi Zhong never would’ve made it past Gu ZhouXing in the first place.
And now, Gu ZhouXing was gone—never even getting the chance to see his own brother one last time.
[HuMing, I know you probably blame me for not bringing you home sooner. But you were always under surveillance. Bringing you back early would’ve jeopardized everything. I’m sorry.]
[But now, you’ve grown into someone capable of standing on his own. I believe you can lead the Gu family out of this chaos.]
[Your grandfather is old. He doesn’t want to see the family torn apart again. That’s why… the imposter needs to be dealt with by you. That would be the best ending for everyone.]
[Do what your heart tells you. I have a strange feeling… that you’re the most remarkable person I’ve ever met.]
The letter ended there, with an address scribbled at the bottom—the location of Dr. Huang’s wife.
HuMing folded the letter and tucked it into his pocket.
He drew a deep breath. A calm had settled over him.
Gu ZhouXing had rebalanced the scales with his own two hands. Everything Shi Zhong thought he’d manipulated—was now unraveling.
If they still managed to lose after all of this, HuMing wouldn’t be able to forgive himself.
He turned to Gu WeiJun. His face was serious now—matured.
“Dad, second-grandpa prepared everything. What happens next… is up to us.”
Gu WeiJun nodded solemnly. He understood exactly what HuMing meant.
Just then, the bank manager re-entered, carrying a black credit card with both hands.
“This is all the money Mr. Gu left behind. It’s been transferred to this card. If there’s anything else you need, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you,” HuMing said as he took the card and slipped it into his pocket.
He didn’t care how much money it held.
This was his second-grandpa’s final gift—and the price he’d paid for entrusting the future of the Gu family to HuMing.
…
As the two stepped outside the bank, the sky above was bright and clear.
A soft breeze stirred the air. HuMing instinctively lifted a hand to block the sunlight.
Then suddenly, he felt a strange sense of déjà vu.
Under the tall tree up ahead… it felt like someone was sitting there.
An old man, smiling at him—the same way he had all those years ago.
[Hey, kid. Care for another round of chess?]
[Trust me—it’s one you’ll never forget!]
“…You planned everything, didn’t you?”
HuMing’s lips curled into a faint smile, and he murmured to himself—
quiet, but certain.
