CHAPTER 259: CHAPTER 258: KNOCKING THEM UNCONSCIOUS

The base was extra generous, which was suspicious.

How could they not even ask for a bit of an entrance fee?

"What about the quarantine time?" Luciel asked again.

"They said we could already enter and stay at one of the houses in front. As long as we don’t leave the house for 12 hours, then we could wander around afterwards," Dan said.

"I see. Then let’s go."

While they were driving through the entrance, Luciel carefully looked at the guards and frowned.

He wanted to look a bit more, but they were already inside the retreat center and were guided to one of the houses nearby.

They parked their car downstairs, and they also saw other cars in the distance.

"Are there other people living nearby?" Luciel asked the person who guided them coldly.

"Yes, there are some people living nearby who have been staying at the camp for a week already. They will probably leave after the people they are waiting for come," the guide said with a smile.

Luciel didn’t ask any further questions and just followed the guide inside the house.

After showing all the rooms of the house to them, the guide finally left.

When the guide left, they began checking the house again and checked every corner of the house to be sure that there were no cameras or any dangerous things inside the house.

"We should get out of here as soon as possible," Luciel said coldly after they finished inspecting their temporary living area.

"Yes, the atmosphere here is weird, so we should leave as soon as possible," Dan also said in agreement.

Of course, Dan and the others could say that the atmosphere is weird because Luciel could vaguely feel that a lot of people had died in the place where they were in.

The person who guided them in the house didn’t even look at them as people, so of course the others could tell that the atmosphere was weird.

"Then, why shouldn’t we just leave now?" Eric asked.

"No need. Didn’t you feel that they were watching us from afar? Let’s just leave early in the morning. There’s no need to alert them and fight unnecessary battles," Luciel said.

They hadn’t met anyone aside from the guards at the gate and the person that guided them in the house, but Luciel could clearly feel the presence of other people watching them.

He wasn’t sure about the population of the survivor’s camp, so it was better not to do anything as long as the people in the camp didn’t do anything to them.

If he was with Treyton and the others, they would probably start investigating the camp already.

Unfortunately, they weren’t with him, and he was only with the kids.

Dan and the others indeed have some abilities, but they aren’t strong enough yet.

They had indeed enhanced their combat abilities over the past months, but Luciel wasn’t sure if they could succeed in escaping if they were surrounded by a lot of people.

They’re already in the survivor’s camp, so they should at least achieve something they came for.

"Yes, I already talked to the guide about it a while ago. They were indeed willing to exchange cigarettes for food."

"What type of food supplies did you ask for?"

"I asked for canned supplies," Dan answered.

"That’s good."

At least if they’re canned goods, the chance of them being tampered with is very small.

"Did they tell you when they would exchange the supplies?"

"The person who guided us here said they would bring the canned goods after a while. They probably have a lot of people who smoke," Dan said.

"That’s better. After taking a walk for a bit, then we could leave immediately," Billy said.

"Yes, we should leave as soon as possible," Dan said again.

After their talk, they had their meals and then started training and meditating, aside from Luciel.

They put dark blankets on the windows so that even those who were observing them wouldn’t be able to see anything from afar.

The guide and the man who carried the canned goods also didn’t say anything much to them and immediately left after they received the cigarettes.

After the two people left, Dan and the others began checking the canned goods individually to see if they had been tampered with.

The others were helping in checking them out, but they would always hand it to Dan afterwards.

Dan had a metal ability, so he could tell if the canned goods had been resealed or not. So he had to check all of them after the others had done a preliminary check.

When they finished checking all the canned goods that they received, they resumed what they were doing before.

After a few hours, they had their simple dinner before it got dark so that they could conserve lighting.

For their safety, even though the house had enough rooms for all of them, they didn’t use those rooms when it was time to rest.

They only gathered in the living room and simply put blankets on the floor where they could sleep.

Nothing happened throughout the afternoon, so when it was already sleeping time, the kids weren’t that tense and were able to sleep.

Dan and the others were still vigilant, but those who weren’t on guard duty were able to rest.

Luciel was also lying on the sofa with his eyes closed, but he suddenly opened his eyes because he could feel that there was danger around him.
