CHAPTER 257: CHAPTER 257; MOMMA, YOU CAN DO IT
Her fingers found the edge of his shirt, curling there, as if holding onto something fragile, this moment, maybe. No one was gonna understand her wild emotions. This was something she had never experienced, being loved like this.
Since she was just a baby, she has spent her entire life of 30+ years in an assassin camp completing all kinds of missions. The only thing she had in mind was killing and setting the records straight.
The man who had always been her boyfriend and thought that’s how relationships were had personally killed her after attaining what he had been desiring. She hadn’t expected him to be using her and thought that’s how most relationships were, but being beside this man, she learned a lot of things she didn’t know; she was experiencing foreign feelings she never knew existed.
The way he was keen, supportive, and gentle towards her made her eyes glisten with tears.
The stillness between them throbbed with unspoken heat, but neither of them moved to break it. They felt at peace.
A few seconds later, his thumb brushed the side of her jaw, then slid slowly to the hollow just beneath her ear. "Do you know what you mean to me?" he whispered, voice hoarse with restraint.
Tang Fei’s eyes fluttered half-shut feeling the moment. "You always tell me..." Yes, with everything happening, how could she know her worth?
His lips curved, but it wasn’t a smile, it was something deeper, almost aching.
He leaned in and kissed the soft skin just under her earlobe, lingering there, breathing her in like she was something sacred.
"You smell so sweet and edible..." he murmured. "It drives me crazy. Like I could just... stay here forever. Just stay indoors."
Her heart beat faster. She felt the press of his mouth against her neck again, slower this time.
His hands smoothed down her back, pulling her closer until there was no space between them, only warmth and quiet need.
"Say something," he whispered into her skin. "Just anything." Yes, her opinion mattered the most to him. He didn’t want to come off as an obsessive freak.
Tang Fei hesitated for a second, then wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face into his chest.
"I will always be here... That’s a promise...." She already had such a beautiful family, what else would she be looking out there that was way more perfect than the kids and the man she currently had?
He held her tighter as if her words were a thread keeping him grounded, keeping the wild inside him from unraveling. The silence wrapped around them again, but this time, it wasn’t empty; it was full, brimming with everything they couldn’t quite say yet.
"Thank you, Fei Fei," he said after a long beat, his voice low and rough. "I will spend the rest of my life making sure you never regret staying by my side."
Tang Fei tilted her head back to look up at him, her eyes wide and luminous. She could see his weakness, she was his weakness and the only woman in his eyes.
Sometimes she wondered if she was worth it. "We need to go downstairs before the kids come upstairs!" She was delaying and the kids would suddenly become grumpy.
"All right," He offered his arm, teasing lightly, "Shall we, my lady?"
She rolled her eyes with a smile but took his arm anyway. "Yes, we gotta hurry up before the kids come looking for us."
As they walked out of the room, Tang Fei glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. In that moment, with the air still humming with unspoken promises and the house alive with distant laughter, she realized: this wasn’t just a fleeting moment. It wasn’t a dream but a reality.
They took the stairs down to the sitting area.
The kids were already there in the kitchen room, all gathered, and Nanny Yun had served them some light meals on the countertop, and they were already eating.
Tang Fei walked over joining them with Huo Ting Cheng by her side.
"Woow mama! You look beautiful, it’s like a model getting ready for a runway." Zhihao sarcastically spoke up glaring at his father. If it ain’t this man, their momma won’t he delaying herself in the bedroom.
"Hehe... You look like a gentleman next door; you all look so beautiful." She complimented them all. All the kids were dressed appropriately.
"Thank you, Mommy!" Altogether, they resonated.
"Daddy, how come you didn’t join us during the harvesting of fruits? We had so much fun." Feihao was surprised that her Father was around and hadn’t gone over to the office today, and surprisingly, he seemed to be free and not busy as usual. Since he was around, why couldn’t he join them and have fun as a family?
"I don’t like it!" Could he say those menial tasks weren’t meant for him? There’s no way he would get himself dirty just to pick fruits. If he needed fruits he could have his men purchase them from the store or harvest them from the garden.
Tang Fei didn’t know if she should laugh or shake her head at the kids not understanding how their father was. Someone like Huo Ting Cheng wasn’t someone who could bend his back to pick up fruits. So long as they were planted and there, whoever felt like having them, could just go and harvest. That wasn’t his job at all to do.
Even in the office, he delegated most of the work to Secretary Li and Huo Qi. He wasn’t meant to suffer.
Nanny Yun served the two of them some meals and juice she had just freshly blended.
"Geez! Daddy has money to pay workers to work for him! It’s not something he can do for fun; he doesn’t like getting exhausted and dirty." Zhihao winked at his mother while lifting his chin up smugly.
He was still the best compared to their father, he was still the one who assisted his mother in running those chores successfully and assisted her in harvesting.
Huo Ting Cheng wasn’t in the mood to argue, he kept himself busy with his food as others came into the kitchen and joined them at the countertop.
Tang Fei had already noticed Zhihao was always in a competitive nature against his father. He was more attached to her than other kids.
"Mommy, should we make peach jam? Do you know how to make it? Or some ice cream, I don’t know, probably a fruit punch. Just something for snacking." Minghao queried while gazing at Twilight, who was seated on the opposite side facing her. She looked so beautiful in a dress, and she still had her face wrapped up.
"We will just look it up on the website and try it out, and if it doesn’t work, we will leave it alone. We will also try to make some tomato paste to save all those ripe tomatoes." They had a lot of harvest that they could form anything they wanted to.
"Momma... You can do it! I believe in you!" With his fist up in the air, he cheered her up. His mother was a superwoman and definitely, she could do it.
"Hehehe... Please, Mommy, fruit popsicles, don’t forget that too." Fenghao wasn’t left behind. In the streets, he could see those rich kids buying and having them; he had been wanting to taste them.
"Yes! We will do all that." Tang Fei wildly smiled and understood him from those eyes that had nostalgia. "And fruit tarts too. We will bake them all as a family in the evening once we are back! But first..." she looked at the kids, "we have fruit to give away and we better hurry up."
"Okay, momma..." They hurried up with their food.
"How about I make arrangements and let the guards do that instead of you!" He didn’t see any need to stress and exhaust herself. He had enough guards who could handle that work and execute it with perfection.
"It’s okay; it ain’t that tiring after all; we don’t have much to do apart from showing up!" They had an entire afternoon, they didn’t have any other activities lined up to do, and then, with the guards, they weren’t going to do anything apart from showing their faces.
"Okay, I will tag along." Huo Ting....
