CHAPTER 263: CHAPTER 263; THANKS MOMMA

Tang Fei felt even more embarrassed seeing that judgemental look from her friend. She felt like no one would understand her.

"I...." What could she say? She was too speechless to form a complete sentence.

"Girl! You have four kids! This pregnancy didn’t just happen, it destroyed you! Your husband is right, no more kids!" She didn’t want her to go through what she had gone through with her previous pregnancy; it was a whole long journey.

"What if I tell you I rarely remember how I gave birth back then? Can you understand me that I want to give birth and take care of the baby just like how Huo Ting Cheng did with our firstborn? I just want to make new memories for the two of us; it isn’t wrong, right?" She only had Xu Xie to talk to about these private matters. Deep down she wanted to experience personally what it was to be pregnant and give birth.

Xu Xie then recalled Huo Ting Cheng telling her Tang Fei doesn’t recall much from her memories, she doesn’t even know how many kids she had given birth to.

"Huo Ting Cheng won’t accept that, and I don’t think you would want the two of you to have a fight; take time to get better healthwise, handle this project until it’s stable, and then you can talk to him about having one more kid." Huo Ting Cheng had vowed he wasn’t going to get her pregnant, so, whatever she had in mind was just fantasies.

"That’s true!" Yes, she had a lot at hand, and it was best to handle them first before thinking of getting pregnant. She wouldn’t be able to convince him so soon, and the last thing she needed was to have a fight with him.

"Awesome...." Xu Xie relaxed seeing she no longer thought of having kids.

Huo Ting Cheng felt like Tang Fei and Xu Xie were having a strange conversation, so he moved closer. Tang Fei was someone who would easily be swayed by words; he trusted Xu Xie, but when it came to naughty things, Tang Fei was innocent, and Xu Xie was the expert in that sector. She owns bars, Casinos, and brothels, so nothing could sound new to her. He couldn’t let her corrupt her mind.

A few minutes later the administrator came forward, holding a simple framed photo of the kids for mementos. "I wanted to give you this... It’s from the last festival we managed to hold here before the funding stopped. It’s nothing special, but I thought..."

Tang Fei took the frame, gently holding it; the photo was faded but full of life, with children holding handmade lanterns, paper stars strung across the courtyard, and laughter frozen in time. She blinked, emotions catching her off guard. "It’s beautiful. Thank you for your sweet gesture."

"We will make more memories like this in the future..." Tang Fei added firmly. "Next festival, my husband would sponsor everything. He would bring in games, lights, food, and whatever they wanted. We will re-create more memories with them at every festival or whenever we have time to visit."

The woman’s eyes widened looking at the calm man beside Tang Fei, "You would do that?"

"We will," Huo Ting Cheng responded. Even though his voice was distant, he still had assurance and was quite certain. "Every child deserves at least one night to feel like the world is theirs. They deserve that moment too."

"Thank you so much... Thank you...." She was so glad that the kids could have a donor and they could also enjoy childhood life like other kids.

"It’s okay, go on...." Tang Fei politely nodded at her and she politely nodded back at her before returning to her office.

A bell chimed faintly in the distance, the old bell, rusted but still working. The kids immediately scattered, squealing, running toward the messy hall to gather up.

"I guess we should head out, too; it’s getting late." Huo Qi spoke up gazing at the watch on his wrist. They needed to pass through the streets and make donations while headed over to the hospital. Time was running out.

"Sure....." With the photo, Tang Fei led them back to their vans and luckily, the kids had gone back to the hall.

As they walked back toward the car, Minghao came bounding up again, his hair now tied into a dozen tiny braids and so was Feihao... "Mama! Dad! Look at me! Look.... Look! Look! Beautiful? Right?"

"Yeah! Very beautiful." Tang Fei nodded her head, smiling at her; the braids were indeed neatly done and suited her.

"You look fierce!" Huo Ting Cheng eyed her, ruffling her hair. He was glad she was calmer now and back to being herself. That incident at the military academy might have shocked her to the core.

The military place wasn’t for everyone.

"I’m a dragon!" Minghao roared giggling.

Tang Fei beamed at her. "A very beautiful one indeed. Even you, Feihao, you look beautiful in those braids."

"Hehe... Thanks, momma!"

As they approached the car, Xu Xie suddenly stopped, her eyes narrowing dangerously to a certain place. "Wait... did you see that? Or am I hallucinating?"

Huo Ting Cheng turned, following her gaze in the same direction.

The doorway to a side storeroom stood slightly ajar, barely noticeable behind a line of hanging laundry laid a shadow that moved, small, timid, and retreating and had been hiding this entire time watching from the sidelines.

Tang Fei was already walking toward it before anyone else reacted. Her instincts didn’t wait for permission and didn’t think something harmful could be in there. So she moved forward. Earlier on, she had felt that intense peek but couldn’t pinpoint where it came from and she ignored it.

She pushed the door open slowly, making no sudden movements to scare her. "Hello?" she called out gently, gazing at the little girl cuddled up, hiding away behind the cartons.

There was a faint rustle, then silence.
