CHAPTER 265: CHAPTER 265; PLEASE! DON’T TAKE ME BACK
There was a long silence. The child looked from Tang Fei to Huo Ting Cheng, checking them out, then back at the rabbit, Tang Fei was holding. Slowly, she crawled forward, not walking, not trusting her legs, and placed the toy against her chest.
Then she reached up, tiny fingers curling around Tang Fei’s hand.
Tang Fei felt sad for her, what could she have gone through to be like this?
She lifted the girl into her arms gently, as if holding something breakable. "We will take good care of you," she whispered comforting her. Apart from comforting her, there was nothing else she could do.
They walked back toward the car and the sun hadn’t completely gone down, but time was flashing past.
They all got back into the van as they drove away from the orphanage.
Luckily, her kids didn’t question anything and didn’t overreact, they were just surprised by this different girl who had the same eyes as them but with blond hair and big eyes. She was totally pale white than their skin colors.
In the backseat, the little girl lay curled up beside Minghao, the plush rabbit held tightly in her arms like it was her protector and savior.
And for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t hiding behind a door.
She was going home. To a new place. Somewhere safer and no one was gonna find her.
As the convoy rolled away from the orphanage, inside the car, it was quiet, almost reverent. You could only hear their tiny heartbeats and breathing intermingling.
Tang Fei kept glancing into the backseat through the front mirror, her eyes resting on the tiny figure curled up next to Minghao. Feihao, Zhihao, and Tinghao were busy on their father’s tablet.
Qingqing clutched the plush rabbit, her cheek resting against the window. She hadn’t said a single word, but her silence wasn’t the usual kind, it was weighed down, heavy with something deeper than fear.
"Huo Qi, look into Qingqing’s origins. Use a face recognition app to create possible images of her parents and also use her face to search through the internet and see what you can come across. It’s faster that way." To know if she had a family out there, they could use the face recognition way; Huo Qi and Huo Wu were advanced when it came to handling such situations.
As much as she wanted to keep her, she also needed to know if it was a safe measure to do and if her family was looking for her. What if her family is out there worried sick about her disappearance? What if her mother is crying every night to sleep because of her? But then again, what if she is their enemy?
"All right, just a few seconds would do and I will be done." Huo Qi was also waiting for his Master to ask him to do so. For their safety and the kid’s safety, they needed to know who they were dragging into their family; they needed to know every little detail about her.
"Missus, something’s not right. Facial recognition pinged a 99% match to Princess Aryana of the Kingdom of Aerithya. She disappeared three months ago during a peace summit en route to a humanitarian school visit. Officials claimed her convoy was attacked by insurgents and her body was never recovered."
"They soon declared her dead after two weeks of searching and conducted a funeral for her in her home. It was a national tragedy, and it’s stated down in their magazines. But she’s not. She’s here and alive. What’s up with them?" Huo Qi was surprised. Wasn’t it a bit too soon to declare her dead? Couldn’t they have searched for her a bit longer?
He always sees families search for their lost relatives for years, what about her? What if she resurfaces alive? Was there any need to conduct a funeral?
Were they trying to get rid of her or were they covering it up? It didn’t make any sense, and with her current condition, it wasn’t time to ask her such traumatizing, intimate questions. What could have happened?
"Please don’t take me back!"
"Please don’t!" Suddenly, they heard nervous heartbreaking cries coming from the back seat.
Huo Ting Cheng was driving; Tang Fei was seated in the passenger seat, and Huo Qi, Huo Wu, and Huo Zhen were seated in the back seats with the kids.
"Please! Don’t take me back!"
"I beg of you!"
You could hear desperation and begging in her voice. She probably was nine or ten years old from her body frame.
"Don’t worry, momma is a good person and won’t take you back, I promise! Since she said she would take care of you, then she meant it." Minghao suddenly hugged her tightly in her arms. They were of the same body frame and height; they only had age differences.
"Please don’t take me back!" With hiccups and pain, she whispered, crying and begging.
"Don’t worry! We won’t take you back." Xu Xie, who was seated close by, comforted her. As much as they knew her origins, they weren’t going to push her to somewhere she didn’t want to go. She had her own reasons.
"Huo Qi, clear all the data about her and make appointments for her to have plastic surgery to alter her face slightly. She would also dye her hair to black." Huo Ting Cheng understood that back in the kingdom, there could be a fight of inheritance going on. To be the chosen heir, some siblings would choose to kill their blood siblings for that seat. It didn’t matter how old, what mattered was the seat and having that power.
"All right Master.... I’m clearing all the data and Huo Wu would make the doctor’s arrangements to attend to her as soon as possible." If she didn’t want to go back, they couldn’t force her; they could only find ways for her to live a normal life without having to face threats from those people.
