CHAPTER 1442: CHAPTER 1449: FALLEN INTO A TRAP (2)
"Master, be careful!"
Cai Wei asked in confusion, "What?"
As a mere mortal, she could not see anything with her naked eye, but Brother Ying, with his heavenly vision, saw everything clearly. Amidst the drumming, many ghosts emerged floating vaguely from within the human skin drum, beneath the palace steps, from the cracks in the tiles, and from behind the fake mountains. These ferocious ghosts were male and female, old and young, each with disheveled hair and faces smeared with blood, clearly having met violent deaths.
As they drifted around, radiating an intense Evil Yin Spirit’s Qi, they closed in on Cai Wei, aiming to lure away her soul. Unaware of the imminent danger, Cai Wei kept looking around, trying to understand the purpose behind Queen Jiya’s drumming.
Brother Ying was terrified and swiftly flew towards the ghosts, intending to disperse them.
However, these wronged spirits had no physical bodies to scatter, and as Brother Ying flew through them, he cried out frantically in alarm.
Cai Wei noticed Brother Ying’s anxiety and asked uneasily, "What’s wrong, Brother Ying?"
In an urgent tone, Brother Ying said, "Master, quick, go back to the Space, malicious ghosts are trying to ensnare you and capture your soul!"
During his alarmed cries, several ghosts had already drifted closer to Cai Wei amidst the increasingly urgent drumming. But before they could stretch out their hands to snatch her soul, a sudden flash of golden light burst forth from the Taoist robe she wore. The ghost at the forefront vanished silently into thin air, just as it was enveloped by the golden light.
Subsequently, the golden light spread outwards, like a glowing body emitting precious light into the night, expanding limitlessly into the night sky!
Cai Wei suddenly opened her eyes in disbelief, staring at the Taoist robe she was wearing!
But Brother Ying saw even more than she did. He witnessed those Yin People, nurtured for years by Queen Jiya, retreating silently at the sudden emergence of the golden light, seemingly trying to flee. However, they were enveloped by the rapidly expanding golden light. The ghosts struggled for a moment, but then were reduced to nothingness, disappearing without a trace...
Cai Wei only saw her clothes shining; she saw nothing else and did not know what had just transpired. Still on high alert, she waited for Jiya’s next move, oblivious to the fact that if she hadn’t been wearing that Taoist robe, the Yin People, heavy with Evil Yin Spirit’s Qi, would have long since taken her soul, and her physical body would have perished as well!
Queen Jiya finally noticed that the Taoist robe Cai Wei was wearing was imbued with an exceptionally strong Golden Rui Qi. Her eyes gleamed fiercely with a hint of greed. Such a waste that all these treasures were in the hands of this woman!
She tugged at the corners of her mouth and suddenly stowed away her human skin drum, turning and heading back inside the palace.
Cai Wei, together with Chang Mei and the white-furred tiger, had already defeated Jiya’s wizard subordinates. Seeing Jiya retreat back into her sleeping chamber, they lifted their legs, eager to give chase.
"Hold on!"
Brother Ying soared up, opened his heavenly vision, and swept over the vast sleeping chamber, saying, "Master, the Yin Qi inside is too dense, even I cannot see clearly what’s in there. It’s better not to go in."
Cai Wei said, "If we don’t go in, do we just let that old hag escape?"
Brother Ying laughed and said, "How can we let her escape? We don’t go in; we’ll just make her come out!"
With that, he flew up, grabbed two lanterns hanging in the courtyard, and headed for the top of the palace.
Oh, set a fire!
What an excellent idea!
Cai Wei’s mouth curled into a smile, praising Brother Ying’s intelligence for the first time. She didn’t stand idle either and used her thoughts to transport lots of dry wood from the Space, helping Chang Mei and Brother Ying set the fire!
During this time, the sleeping chamber of Queen Jiya was eerily quiet; inside or out, there was no movement whatsoever.
