Capítulo 1761: Chapter 1768 Baohua Temple (6)
Upon following the sound, they saw a young monk, as burly as an ox and a horse, staring intently at Beautiful appearance’s face. When Beautiful appearance turned her head, the monk asked once more, “Is the female benefactor here to pray for offspring?”
Immediately, a feeling of discomfort arose in Beautiful appearance’s heart. In her impression, monks should have an image of a dependable outsider, leisurely avoiding the world, but this one in front of her clearly had the appearance of a lustful ghost. It wasn’t her being overly sensitive; rather, the monk’s gaze was so blatant, it seemed as though he wanted to devour her alive, leaving her with chills all over!
She was unwilling to pay him any heed, coldly saying, “No!”
The monk gently said, “May I ask if the female benefactor has any heirs? If not, the Hall of Progeny in our temple is most efficacious; the female benefactor might give it a try!”
Seeing the monk still pestering, Beautiful appearance rolled her eyes at him and inched closer to Nangong Yi’s side.
At this moment, Nangong Yi had already noticed that the monk was harassing Beautiful appearance. His gaze instantly turned cold, killing aura momentarily flaring up, and pulled Beautiful appearance behind him, saying with a skin-deep smile, “How many Silver Taels does it cost to pray for offspring in your Hall of Progeny?”
“No expenditure is required!”
Upon hearing Nangong Yi’s words and assuming they were truly seeking offspring, the monk was overjoyed and repeatedly said, “The donors who come to our temple to seek offspring rely entirely on their thoughts; those with money donate a few taels more, those without money burn one stick of incense. The Buddha is compassionate, aiming to save all beings, not judging people based on their donations!”
While speaking, his eyes uncontrollably glanced towards Beautiful appearance’s face.
Nangong Yi, with a faint smile, said, “So, is it merely burning one stick of incense here to pray for offspring? Is there no need to perform any vegetarian meal and chant the scriptures?”
The monk explained, “Indeed, there is no need to set up a vegetarian meal and chant the scriptures. Women seeking offspring, as long as their bodies are without illness, hold their thoughts sincerely, and after seven days of abstinence, pray before the Buddha. If they obtain the Holy Oracle, they lie down in the clean room beside, and if blessed with a dream, they can conceive a son.”
Upon hearing that the women seeking offspring had to stay at the temple, Beautiful appearance became suspicious and said coldly, “It is feared that it is inconvenient for women to stay in the monk’s temple.”
The monk said, “This clean room is tightly enclosed, one woman per room, with family members guarding outside of the door. No miscellaneous person is allowed to come and go, so it’s originally convenient!”
As it turns out, on either side of the Hall of Progeny, several clean rooms were set up, with beds and curtains in the center. Those praying for offspring had to be healthy middle-aged women, observing seven days of abstinence, personally coming to the temple to bow and pray, and ask the Buddha for a broom. If they obtained the Holy Oracle, they would stay overnight in the clean room, with only one person per room. If they did not obtain the Holy Oracle, it meant their thoughts were not sincere. The monk would repent for them, and after another seven days of abstinence, they would come again to pray. The clean room was sealed from all sides, without a single gap. Their family’s husband and male servants were first taught to inspect around. Once everything was properly arranged, women were sent into the room to rest at night, with relatives and servants sleeping outside to guard the door. Therefore, there was no doubt.
After hearing the monk’s explanation, Nangong Yi and Beautiful appearance couldn’t help but coldly smile. Initially, they thought this was truly a Buddha’s radiant precious pagoda ancient temple, but it turned out to be a place to hide filth and dirt.
If the Bodhisattva had spiritual power, merely praying would suffice, so why must women stay in the temple? There is certainly some deceit involved. The Buddha and Bodhisattva in the past cultivated themselves, severing ties of affection, so why would they be concerned with matters of worldly desires, delivering children in dreams night after night in this temple? Clearly, it’s absurd talk!
It’s a pity that these commoners believe in witchcraft rather than medicine, thus entering evil through evil, taking it as truth, blinded and unawakened, sending their wives and daughters to the temple for free enjoyment by these monks. Indeed: clearly it’s Broken Heart Grass, mistakenly taken for Reviving Elixir.
The monk trying to chat up Beautiful appearance was originally bewitched by Beautiful appearance’s appearance, ignoring the temple’s rules, boldly persuading Beautiful appearance and Nangong Yi to pray for offspring, with the hope of spending a night with Beautiful appearance for pleasure, yet unexpectedly bringing about his own deadly misfortune due to his lustful thoughts!
