CHAPTER 172: CHAPTER 172: HUO FENG MEETS SONG YUN.

Song Yun rushed in, his face pale seeing Huo Yan lean against the wall. He rushed to her instantly, cradling her in his arms.

"You... you’re bleeding." His voice broke as his hands touched a cold, red liquid.

"I... I’m fine." Huo Yan stammered, feeling breathless.

"Who did this to you?" He demanded, his eyes flashing with an unrestrained fury.

"Can I get to the clinic first? I don’t feel too good," Huo Yan said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Right... clinic." He said. He hastily scooped her into his arms and walked out, going in the direction of the university clinic.

Huo Fei was hidden behind one of the pillars and her hands clenched tightly. "You survived today. Let’s see if you’d survive the next one. Huo Yan... your days are numbered."

Meanwhile, Song Yun effortlessly carried Huo Yan in his arms as he walked through the university’s hallways. The students all stopped to watch him, feeling amazed as they whispered among themselves.

"Maybe I should walk myself," Huo Yan suggested.

"Why is that?" He asked her, his face betraying no emotion.

"They are all staring," Huo Yan muttered, burying her head into his chest.

"Let them. We are not doing anything bad, are we?" Song Yun countered. Huo Yan shook her head in response.

"Good. Now be a good girl and remain silent. You are hurt, remember?"

They finally reached the university’s clinic, and Huo Yan was admitted immediately, given the proper treatment. Her head was bandaged and the bruises on her arms were taken care of.

About thirty minutes later, the door to the clinic opened. Huo Feng and Yue Ning walked in instantly.

Huo Yan immediately tried to sit up but she was held down by Song Kai who shook his head.

He mouthed. "You are still hurt. You need to rest."

Huo Feng’s eyes darted to the hands holding his sister, and if looks could kill, Song Kai would have been six feet under.

"Brother," Huo Yan called out tentatively. "Sister-in-law, you shouldn’t be here. You’re still hurt. You should be resting."

"Says the person who is hurt herself. How did you get hurt?" Huo Feng demanded with his hands folded. "And don’t you dare lie to me."

"It was Huo Fei," Huo Yan mumbled a reply.

"What did you say? I didn’t hear you." Huo Feng said, his eyes darkened with an unrestrained anger and rage.

"It was Huo Fei." She answered, a little louder this time. She then recounted everything which had taken place in the restroom.

Yue Ning’s eyes flashed. Once again, she had failed to protect Huo Yan.

’Host, you shouldn’t blame yourself. Some things are bound to happen.’ The system comforted her, and she took a deep breath. She would deal with Huo Fei.

"Huo Fei..." Huo Feng muttered under his breath. "She and her brother do not seem to learn their lesson, do they?"

"Brother, what will you do?" Huo Yan asked carefully. She could see the dark look in her brother’s eyes, and she knew that it wouldn’t be something good. Not like she pitied Huo Fei, she got what was coming for her.

"You do not need to worry about what I’d do to her. You only need to focus on recuperating." Huo Feng’s voice softened. "Fortunately, you were saved by..."

He paused as his eyes landed on Song Yun.

"Song Yun."

Huo Feng’s expression darkened. "Song? Song Kai’s junior brother?"

"Yes," Song Yun admitted.

Yue Ning’s brows furrowed. How did Huo Yan get acquainted with Song Kai’s younger brother?

She turned her attention towards Huo Feng whose expression had turned gloomy and she bit her lips.

"Young man, can I have a word with you outside?" Huo Feng asked.

"Gege..." Huo Yan spoke up but she was silenced with a stare from Huo Feng. She breathed out before turning her attention to Song Yun who gave her a reassuring smile.

"I will be fine. It’s just your brother." He mouthed to her, and her shoulders slumped slightly.

"Sure thing, Mr. Huo." Song Yun agreed.

Huo Feng’s eyes narrowed before he stepped out followed by Song Yun.

Yue Ning’s gaze landed on Huo Yan whose head was lowered. "He is the one, isn’t he?" She questioned with a low voice.

"Would my brother agree? Yun is Song Kai’s younger brother," Huo Yan exhaled. "Maybe I shouldn’t have gotten involved with him."

"Don’t you like him?" Yue Ning questioned her with creased brows.

"Of course I do. I have never felt this way about anyone before." Huo Yan replied without hesitation.

"Then you shouldn’t doubt your love. From what I’ve seen, Song Yun seems to be a different person from his brother." Yue Ning smiled. "If he could convince your brother, you both might have a chance." She finished.

A ray of hope flashed through her eyes. "Sister-in-law, do you think so?"

Yue Ning held her hands as she answered. "I know so."

The air outside the clinic was heavy with tension. Neither of them spoke for a long moment. The quiet sounds of passing students filled the silence until Huo Feng finally broke it.

"So," he began, his voice calm but laced with coldness, "you’re Song Kai’s brother."

Song Yun met his gaze without flinching. "Yes, but I’m not him."

"That may be true," Huo Feng replied, taking a step closer, "but your bloodline isn’t exactly something I trust. Song Kai ruined lives and he is trying to ruin mine. Why should I believe you won’t do the same? Why should I believe that you weren’t sent by your brother?"

"Because I’d rather die than hurt Huo Yan," Song Yun said firmly. "She means more to me than you can imagine."

Huo Feng’s eyes narrowed. "Words are easy. I don’t need your promises; I need proof."

"Then I’ll prove it," Song Yun said without hesitation. "Whatever it takes."

For a moment, they stared at each other, neither willing to back down.

Finally, Huo Feng turned away, his voice low. "Stay away from her... until you can convince me you’re nothing like your brother."

Song Yun’s jaw tightened. "Then I’ll earn that right."

Huo Feng paused briefly before walking off. "We’ll see."
