CHAPTER 25: CHAPTER 25: INTRODUCTION

Yue Ning walked to the dining room with a red face. She could still recall what happened earlier, and she wondered how she could face Huo Feng with a straight face.

"Sister-in-law, you are finally here."

Huo Yan’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she gave the former a forced smile to which she didn’t notice.

"Have a seat. You didn’t have dinner yesterday, you must be starving," Huo Yan commented, gesturing for Yue Ning to take a seat beside her.

She happily did so. Since she arrived at the dining room, she hadn’t looked at Huo Feng who had his attention on his meal. She didn’t know how to face him.

Yue Ning turned her attention to the table, and her brows furrowed. "Who made all these?" She queried.

"The maids. You see, brother noticed that you didn’t have anything to eat last night, and he knew you’d be so tired to cook this morning."

"So he asked some trustworthy maids from the old mansion to help out. They’ll be staying with us now."

Huo Yan explained excitedly, before telling one of the maids to serve Yue Ning.

Yue Ning, on the other hand, turned to look at Huo Feng, and her nose crinkled with delight.

"Thank you." She said warmly.

Huo Feng finally looked at her, his normal icy expression cracking.

Unsure of how he was to reply her, he mumbled a ’you are welcome.’

The mood of the breakfast was filled with Huo Yan’s occasional chatter.

She was the first one to drop her cutleries.

Sitting up, she announced. "Brother, today is the first day of college, so I’ll be heading to college today."

Huo Feng was silent for a while. "Then I’ll have the driver drive you."

There was a smile on her face, and she thanked him.

A few minutes later, she left leaving only Huo Feng and Yue Ning behind.

The atmosphere between both of them turned awkward in a moment.

"I wanted to talk to you about something earlier," clearing his throat, Huo Feng spoke up.

Yue Ning was forced to stare at him when she heard his words.

"What could that be, Mr. Huo?" Yue Ning asked.

She had a calm look, but only she knew how much she wanted to bolt out of the dining room. She really couldn’t look or have a one on one conversation with Huo Feng.

Huo Feng’s gaze lingered on her. He could see that she didn’t dare to face him, and he exhaled. "I have a meeting with the directors today. We want to talk about the suppliers’ proposal."

"That’s great. Good luck with the meeting," she wished him luck.

"I wanted you to accompany me to the meeting." Huo Feng informed her.

Yue Ning choked on nothing as she coughed continuously.

"Careful, please have a glass of water," Huo Feng pushed a glass of water to her, and she accepted it gratefully.

After she had composed herself, she turned to look at him with an unbelievable look. "Why do you want me at your meeting?"

Huo Feng coughed slightly. "I feel your business intellect will help me a lot. I have to admit that you are quite smarter than I expected." He confessed.

"Is this the reason you want me at the meeting?" Forgetting her initial embarrassment, she placed her hands on her chin while staring at him with interest.

Huo Feng touched the tip of his ears, he was unable to meet her intense stare.

Averting his gaze from her, he nodded.

Yue Ning became silent, but she chatted with the system in this moment of silence.

"System, what do you think?"

’It is good, it can help improve your image in Huo Feng’s heart while also improving the prestige of your image in his partner’s eyes. Go for it,’ the system agreed.

Yue Ning felt the same way as the system, so she looked at Huo Feng who had a look of expectation, and she smiled softly.

"I’ll attend," she said, causing him to heave a sigh of relief.

"Thank you."

Yue Ning was glad that she went shopping with Huo Yan the previous day. Perhaps, she wouldn’t have any appropriate wear.

Thirty minutes later, they left the house. Yue Ning didn’t forget to bring the novel along. She needed to earn points so she could unlock skills. She couldn’t afford to slack off.

Huo Feng was the one driving, so automatically, Yue Ning sat in the passenger’s seat. None of them talked about what happened in the morning, and collectively chose to ignore it.

Throughout the ride, Yue Ning had her eyes glued to the novel.

Unable to keep his curiosity, Huo Feng asked her what she was reading halfway through the ride.

He had thought that her answer would lie between business books, or development books or something of that sort.

Instead, he was amazed when she told him she was reading a novel, and that too, a horror novel.

’Who exactly is she?’ He found himself asking throughout the ride.

He felt his curiosity and intrigue increased daily, and the more it increased, the more he wanted to unravel her. To get to know her.

They finally arrived at his company, and Yue Ning was in awe.

She never would have thought that she would step into Huo Corps, much less with Huo Feng by her side.

Huo Feng led her in, and everyone who met them had their heads bowed while they greeted him.

They got to his personal elevator, and went to the highest floor.

But Yue Ning didn’t know that Huo Feng’s actions had spread throughout the entire company.

"Did you hear? The CEO brought a lady, and it wasn’t Ms.Yue."

"Forget about that, the CEO has never personally brought Yue Chen to the company. Now, I’m curious about the identity of that lady."

"Could she be the CEO’s wife?"

"If she is, then she is the infamous Yue Ning, Yue Chen’s sister. But the CEO seems close to her. What are we missing?"

While the two of them made their way to the conference room, they had no idea that they were being discussed in the company’s private chat room.

Once they got to the conference room, Yue Ning stopped before they could enter.

Huo Feng turned to look at her with eyebrows creased. "Why did you stop?" He asked, worry etched on his face.

Yue Ning exhaled. "Do you think it is right for me to be present here? What are they going to say? I am but an outsider." She voiced out her concerns.

She played with her fingers while her eyes darted around, a habit she did whenever she was nervous.

Yue Ning had every right to be scared. To her, she was just an ordinary transmigrator. The moment she stepped in, she would face people who held real power, and she hated to admit that she was scared and nervous.

"You don’t have to worry about anything. I’m in charge of everything, if they have any concerns or complaints, they would have to swallow it." Huo Feng said domineeringly.

Yue Ning parted her lips to speak, but she couldn’t find any words to say. This was probably the first time she would see his domineering side.

"Let’s go in." He said, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Once they walked in, all eyes turned to them. The directors who were present all stared at Yue Ning with suspicion.

One narrowed his gaze at her, but she matched his gaze. She wasn’t one to be so easily frightened.

Another one subtly coughed, but he had his gaze on her.

They had already heard about Huo Feng bringing an unfamiliar woman to the company, but he also brought her to the meeting, and they were all curious as to why he did that.

One of the directors couldn’t contain his curiosity anymore, and thus, he asked. "CEO Huo, who’s this beautiful lady beside you?"

Everyone focused on Huo Feng, fearful that they might miss his answer.

Huo Feng was silent for a while before turning to look at Yue Ning who had her gaze fixed on him.

Huo Feng’s lips lifted up, ever so subtly. But to the directors, this was earth-shattering, and they all exchanged glances.

But it wasn’t as earth-shattering as Huo Feng’s next words. "She’s my wife, and she will be assisting me in today’s meeting. You don’t have to worry, she has a knack for business."

The directors didn’t hear the rest of Huo Feng’s words as they only focused on his first statement.... His Wife!
