CHAPTER 1083: CHAPTER 1084: UNPOPULAR REAL DAUGHTER 27
Song Ziming once again felt someone staring at him. After looking around, he didn’t find anything unusual.
Could it be that he was mistaken? Maybe he’s just too sensitive. Ever since the negotiation failed, he always felt that the way people looked at him was uncomfortable.
Song Qian was chatting with her friends about the gains from this trip to Harbor City, and she was genuinely happy.
Noticing that Song Ziming was unusually quiet, "Brother, what’s wrong?"
Why is he standing there so foolishly and not moving, what’s happening?
Could it be that the negotiation during this trip to Harbor City didn’t yield any results?
Song Qian’s mood suddenly soured. She still remembered Song Ziming mentioning that once the company started up, he would definitely give her shares.
But now the negotiation failed, and no investment has been found. Can the company still start?
Song Qian suddenly had a thought. Last time when Song Ziming called her, it seemed that negotiations were not going smoothly. Maybe he already knew back then that the negotiation was unlikely to succeed.
Knowing the company’s startup was unlikely, was that why he promised shares so readily?
Yes, it must be so. Ever since a certain aunt married and her uncle sold Song’s shares to a rival, the old man had said that Song’s daughters, when they get married, would only get property, shops, jewelry, etc., but definitely not shares.
If proper Song’s daughters don’t get such treatment, why should she, a fake, get shares?
She was still too young, tricked so easily by Song Ziming, and Song Qian’s face suddenly showed displeasure.
The Song siblings were in a bad mood, and Song Qian’s friends didn’t understand what was going wrong but didn’t dare to speak up, so they could only stand quietly by the side.
Zhang Yu didn’t care about the trivial matters between Song Ziming and Song Qian; she had successfully picked up Chu Yun.
It was Chu Yun’s first time flying on an airplane, and she never expected her first flight to be to Harbor City.
Moreover, Chu Yun couldn’t understand the surrounding conversations, as they were either in Cantonese or English, making her feel dizzy.
When she saw Zhang Yu, she quickly rushed over, "Little Yu, thankfully you’re here."
"Let’s go." Zhang Yu patted her shoulder, then took her luggage, ready to leave, "We’re taking the airport express to the city."
"Not taking a cab?" Chu Yun thought Zhang Yu would take a cab.
"It’s too expensive." Zhang Yu explained that taking a cab was indeed very expensive, "Oh, right, the place we’re staying is near Victoria Harbor, and you can see the harbor from the window." Zhang Yu moved into a serviced apartment on her second day in Harbor City, renting it for two months directly.
Chu Yun was really unfamiliar with the place, "I’ll just follow you."
Even though she hadn’t been to Harbor City, Chu Yun knew that Victoria Harbor was considered a central location, "Isn’t the price expensive?"
"The price is alright, I rented it for two months directly."
"Cheaper than staying at a hotel." Zhang Yu felt the price was within her acceptable range.
Oh, renting for two months? Chu Yun didn’t even dare to think about how much that would cost, "It must be very expensive."
"It’s alright. The scenery’s great, it’s good for shopping and even security is excellent." Zhang Yu stated that one must consider these factors when here.
"Are you staying here for two months?" Chu Yun actually wanted to ask if she was staying for such a long duration.
Zhang Yu responded affirmatively. If possible, she might frequent Harbor City.
When she returns, she might even change her Hong Kong and Macau pass to a long-term one, as she has investments here, allowing her to switch to a multiple-entry pass.
Chu Yun recalled what Zhang Yu had said earlier, "Well, you’re amazing."
"By the way, do you know Cantonese?" Chu Yun felt that living here would be difficult without understanding Cantonese.
"I don’t." Zhang Yu replied straightforwardly, "I can speak English with them."
Learning Cantonese is challenging, "If I go out frequently, I might learn it faster, but I don’t go out often."
No choice, being a homebody means she rarely goes out.
It wasn’t surprising that Zhang Yu said so, "But what about eating?"
"Sometimes I buy groceries to cook for myself, but more often, I can have the clubhouse deliver it." Zhang Yu felt this apartment was quite nice.
Although the rent and management fees together were a bit pricey, Zhang Yu felt it was acceptable.
Before entering the apartment, Chu Yun knew that given Zhang Yu’s high standards, the rented place wouldn’t be bad.
However, she hadn’t expected the impact upon entering to be so great. As soon as she walked in, she saw a large floor-to-ceiling window, and outside was Victoria Harbor.
"This room is really, really..." Chu Yun’s mouth gaped open.
"The bedroom is a surprise too." When Zhang Yu originally came to view the apartment with the agent, she was also stunned by the living room.
When Chu Yun entered the bedroom, she was astounded by the 270-degree windows and screamed again.
Zhang Yu was relieved to have been prepared and had closed the door; the soundproofing here was good.
"It’s really amazing." Chu Yun finally understood why Zhang Yu wanted to move here.
"The only downside is that the bathroom doesn’t have a window."
"Otherwise, soaking in a bath with a view of Victoria Harbor at night would be really comfortable." The agent had initially shown Zhang Yu several apartments.
This wasn’t the best unit, but in Zhang Yu’s opinion, it was the most cost-effective one.
"Taking a bath with a view of Victoria Harbor." Chu Yun thought this apartment was already good enough, but she hadn’t expected there to be better options.
Zhang Yu nodded, "But it’s a two-bedroom unit, which is more expensive."
For her current stage, renting such an apartment wasn’t the best choice; she just didn’t have enough money yet.
Once she puts in more effort and makes more money in the Harbor City stock market, she can get a two-bedroom unit—one bedroom, one study.
Not bad, Zhang Yu thought she had found a goal to strive for; hard work, then harder work.
Chu Yun remembered something and picked up her phone to video call Mother Chu. Mother Chu thought Zhang Yu was staying in a hotel in Harbor City, not expecting the place to be so nice.
Mother Chu didn’t dare ask how much it cost; she guessed knowing the price would make her heartache and she wouldn’t bear to rent it.
Once in Harbor City, initially Zhang Yu took Chu Yun around for a bit, but afterward, Chu Yun mostly wandered on her own.
Of course, Zhang Yu arranged a local phone card and an Octopus card for her, which she could use for meals, shopping, and public transportation.
Zhang Yu spent most of her time staying in the apartment, busy making money.
Initially, Chu Yun was quite anxious, worried she wouldn’t be able to communicate or what to do if she got lost, but she also felt it was a great opportunity for growth.
With that mindset, Chu Yun wandered around Hong Kong Island with her phone, Octopus card, and some cash, gradually finding that her English speaking and listening improved significantly.
As for Cantonese, which she once felt was like a heavenly script, she surprisingly understood quite a bit and could even say a few simple sentences, much to her surprise.
