CHAPTER 1084: CHAPTER 1085: UNPOPULAR REAL DAUGHTER 28
Zhang Yu and Chu Yun didn’t always stay in Harbor City; they found time to go back and fill out a university application.
Chu Yun got into a good university in the Capital City, and the computer science program there is quite strong.
As for Zhang Yu, she directly applied for a philosophy major at a university in Yangcheng.
Submitting this application really shocked the teacher. After confirming multiple times that it wasn’t a mistake, the teacher, of course, wanted to have a talk with Zhang Yu.
Zhang Yu knew this choice would surprise her homeroom teacher quite a lot. "I’m interested in philosophy."
"And I want to go somewhere far from the Song Family, somewhere outside of their influence."
The homeroom teacher didn’t understand why Zhang Yu was so repulsed by the Song Family. Was it just because of the steward’s attitude?
But she was, after all, a teacher who wouldn’t be her homeroom teacher any longer. Zhang Yu’s life decisions could only be made by herself.
"Alright." The homeroom teacher put away Zhang Yu’s application.
Zhang Yu returned to the classroom and saw that no one had left yet. She thought they had all gone.
"What’s up?" Zhang Yu whispered to Chu Yun, wondering why no one was leaving.
Chu Yun whispered, "They suggested we all have dinner together and then go out for karaoke."
Ah, that was it. Though Zhang Yu wasn’t very keen on going out, they had been classmates for three years, and who knew when they’d meet again after this farewell?
"I have no problem with it."
Seeing Zhang Yu agree, Chu Yun of course quickly agreed as well.
So a group of teenagers went out to eat and sing, and then they had a late-night snack, carrying on until quite late.
During the late-night snack, many people began to cry. Even though they still had the class group chat and promised yearly reunions, everyone present knew they’d never gather this completely again.
Some from the class were going abroad to study, some didn’t get into their desired universities and planned to retake the exams.
And some were giving up their studies to find jobs.
Zhang Yu watched everyone crying and wailing ridiculously and felt quite calm. She just ate and drank, internally sighing, "this is youth."
She was just observing the craziness around her when unexpectedly a male classmate approached her.
"Cheers." Suddenly a glass appeared in front of Zhang Yu.
Zhang Yu didn’t expect that at the end of the gathering, someone would still come to toast her.
"I’m not good with alcohol." Zhang Yu didn’t want to drink in such a setting, especially since she had already had a few drinks.
"You look down on me." The boy heard this and instantly jumped in, accusing Zhang Yu of looking down on him.
Zhang Yu was truly stunned, "I’m not good with alcohol and can’t drink more; how does that connect to looking down on you?"
Estimating that he must have had too much to drink, Zhang Yu didn’t want to argue with a drunk. She picked up a nearby soft drink, intending to drink that instead.
"I’m drinking alcohol, how can you drink a soft drink?"
"You’re just looking down on me." The boy slurred his words.
The lively crowd turned their attention over.
Noticing everyone’s attention, the boy felt more emboldened. "Zhang Yu, if you don’t drink today, you are looking down on me."
While speaking, he grabbed Zhang Yu’s glass, intending to pour alcohol into it.
Onlookers all advised Zhang Yu, "It’s just a glass of alcohol."
"Didn’t you hear Zhang Yu say she can’t drink?" Chu Yun, having returned from the restroom and seeing this scene, was immediately angry.
The boy saw Chu Yun standing by Zhang Yu, speaking up, and directly charged at Chu Yun. Zhang Yu pulled her behind her.
"What’s the matter? Don’t I know my situation? I can’t drink, means I can’t drink."
"What are you planning by pouring me a full glass of liquor, trying to get me drunk and then do what?"
Zhang Yu looked displeased at the onlooking crowd. "If you think it’s just about one drink, then you drink it."
"I won’t drink it." Zhang Yu wasn’t someone who would sacrifice herself. "Chu Yun, go settle the bill; we’re leaving."
"Want respect from others? Then look at what you’re doing."
"Trash." Since he insisted that not drinking meant disrespect, Zhang Yu straightforwardly met his demand.
No one expected Zhang Yu to be so defiant, and the scene suddenly quieted down.
Soon someone tried to stop Chu Yun, "Xiao Yun, it was just a joke."
"Nothing’s a joke. You all know this guy acts up when drunk, and instead of stopping him, you add fuel to the fire. What are you intending to do?"
"If this escalates, no one’s getting off scot-free."
"Boss, check please." Zhang Yu called out loudly.
The boss quickly came over, "Fifteen hundred."
"Fifteen hundred. We came with 40 people, 37.5 each. For me and Chu Yun, it’s 75."
Zhang Yu initially thought of covering the whole bill but decided it wasn’t necessary and paid for just the two of them. "Alright, we’ve paid for our late-night snack."
"And we’ve already paid for dinner and karaoke." Zhang Yu turned and left with Chu Yun.
The boy who toasted didn’t expect Zhang Yu to be so unapologetic. Seeing her walk out, he didn’t dare meet his classmates’ eyes, feeling they were all laughing at him.
"You can’t leave." He lunged forward and grabbed Zhang Yu’s clothes.
Zhang Yu looked down at his hand, "Let go."
"No." The man slurred with alcohol breath.
The surrounding classmates stood around watching, no one stepping in to resolve the situation.
Zhang Yu wasn’t surprised by their reaction, "You’re really asking for it."
Zhang Yu directly grabbed his hand. The man never thought of Zhang Yu as formidable, yet her strength surprised him.
"Ouch, ouch, let go, let go." The boy’s expression changed.
"Get lost." Zhang Yu shoved him away. "Acting up because you’re drunk, who do you think will indulge you?"
"Drinking cat urine has you like this; do you think you’ll achieve anything?" Zhang Yu had no faith in his potential.
"Drinking shows character, and if you start pestering girls for drinks when you’re drunk, you..." Zhang Yu gave him the middle finger.
The onlookers thought Zhang Yu would suffer, not expecting her to be so assertive, and were quite surprised.
Someone giggled seeing the boy easily subdued by Zhang Yu.
Hearing the laughter, the boy realized he was just a clown in their eyes, and was deeply unhappy.
He wanted to go over and confront Zhang Yu but remembering her earlier strength, he dared not make a move.
"Let’s go." Zhang Yu glanced over at him, then pulled Chu Yun away.
Across from the late-night stall, Song Qian originally thought she’d see Zhang Yu make a fool of herself but was instead surprised by Zhang Yu’s assertiveness.
"Idiot." Song Qian said harshly, looking unhappily at Zhang Yu’s retreating figure.
Even though Song Shijian and the others had said they wouldn’t let Zhang Yu, it turned out they were discussing bringing Zhang Yu back recently.
Song Qian knew that as the true heiress of the Song Family, Zhang Yu’s return was inevitable.
What angered her was that such an important matter wasn’t discussed with her, making her feel like she wasn’t considered a member of the Song Family.
What annoyed her even more was that they suggested giving her an international student allowance, which in her eyes felt like being given a beggar’s handout.
