CHAPTER 1149: CHAPTER 1150 THE UNWELCOME TRUE DAUGHTER 93
Zhang Yu knew about Song Weikang’s actions and felt that the old man must have come to terms with certain things.
For instance, he no longer harbors expectations for the younger generation and doesn’t plan on leaving them much.
The only ones who could upset the old man like this would be either Song Shijian or Song Ziming. As for the others, they barely visit Song Weikang, and if the old man wanted to be mad, he’d have done so long ago.
Song Shijian knew about Song Weikang’s actions. Although he felt bad about the old man being so extravagant, he didn’t keep an eye on his wallet like the others.
His life was relatively okay, and rather than eyeing Song Weikang’s wallet, he felt it better to put in his own efforts.
Song Ziming is now meeting with various investors. After all, Fu’s new energy project is going public and requires a lot of financing.
Thanks to his efforts, and of course with Fu’s backing, the necessary funds for the new energy project gradually came together.
This made him very happy, as the project could finally begin. This was the result of his hard work, and now they just needed to wait for the project to start development and then impress everyone.
Song Ziming is now eager to prove himself, wanting those who underestimated him to see clearly. His successful projects might be few,
but it doesn’t matter. Investing in numerous projects isn’t as good as succeeding with one major blockbuster project.
He still remembered Zhang Yu’s words; he absolutely must achieve something significant to utterly dazzle her.
And he also wanted the old man to know that his grandson was a genius in investments.
The busy Song Ziming hadn’t a clue that Song Weikang had come to terms with everything. When it came to his children and grandchildren, he no longer cared or worried so much.
After receiving his health report, Song Weikang took his personal nurse, Song Dafa, and others to fly to Harbor City.
As the plane was about to land, Song Weikang stared at the view outside the window. "It’s been a long time since I’ve come to Harbor City."
"The last time I was here, there weren’t that many tall buildings." Though he knew from the news, videos, and other channels that Harbor City had developed rapidly, full of skyscrapers,
nothing compared to seeing it firsthand. "It’s truly astounding."
Having traveled to many places with the old man before, Song Dafa looked out the window as well. "So much has changed."
Song Dafa had always been accustomed to taking care of Song Weikang. "Old man, are we going straight to Ban Shan then?"
Song Weikang thought for a moment. "Let’s head over there."
Once they got off the plane, they got into the car that came to pick them up and drove up to Ban Shan.
"Help me schedule a meeting with Zhang Yu to see when she’s available." After a short rest, Song Weikang instructed Song Dafa.
Song Dafa acknowledged, picked up the phone, and called Zhang Yu.
Zhang Yu had just returned from abroad after discussing a project, and her plane had just landed at the airport when she heard that Song Weikang had come to Harbor City.
Her first reaction was that he was joking with her. Everyone knew that after stepping down as Song Corporation CEO, Song Weikang rarely traveled anywhere, let alone take a long flight to Harbor City for her.
Yet, with Song Dafa speaking so convincingly, even suggesting a meeting at the investment company,
Zhang Yu listened to his assertive tone and wanted to retort angrily, wondering where he got his confidence.
On second thought, considering that he was elderly, she decided not to agitate him.
Zhang Yu and Song Dafa arranged to meet at a place she recently purchased, Banshan Villa.
After she acquired it, she had it demolished and rebuilt, already planning then for her family, anticipating several children, so she included a play area for kids.
After freshening up at home, Zhang Yu saw that Song Weikang and Song Dafa had already arrived.
She was rather surprised, especially since they had come on foot. "Do you have a property here, old man?"
Zhang Yu recalled that Song Ziming mentioned before that Song Weikang had a house in Shallow Bay, which was quite a distance from here.
"Yes, just to your upper left." Song Weikang pointed to a villa above.
Wow, seeing the location, Zhang Yu knew the view of Victoria Harbor was lovely from there. "I remember the house in that area; the owner is from the Mainland, and it’s been vacant for years, only attended by an elderly couple as caretakers."
There were so many rumors surrounding that villa. It was such a prime property, left empty, never rented out, stirring curiosity.
Of course, Zhang Yu was curious too and wanted to acquire it.
Given its large area and garden, it was a perfect place for raising kids.
However, she couldn’t contact the owner, thus couldn’t proceed. And now, she found out the owner was someone she knew.
Unfortunately, with such a known person’s property, Zhang Yu really couldn’t make a move.
When Song Weikang saw Zhang Yu’s eyes light up while gazing at the house,
"Interested in seeing my house?" Song Weikang was now planning to gradually handle some of his properties.
As he aged, managing these estates was proving challenging.
Sell her the house? Zhang Yu looked at Song Weikang with skepticism. "You’d sell it to me at market price?"
Zhang Yu worried that Song Weikang might be setting a trap for her; she had to be cautious. Yet, she genuinely loved that house.
She had already imagined how she would renovate it if it were hers.
She would ensure it pleased both adults and children. She used to hope to connect with the owner, asking if they forgot about this house.
Now that such an opportunity presented itself, Zhang Yu found herself at a loss, suddenly hesitant.
Seeing Zhang Yu’s desire to acquire the house, yet afraid of any unexpected developments,
Song Weikang laughed. "Of course, at market price."
"Now, all my money is invested."
"If anything happens and I need money, well, they wouldn’t even let me use it."
Recalling the family’s words, Song Weikang couldn’t help but sigh. "They might even hope I report down below sooner."
"That way, they can split my money." Having lost any smokescreen over his family, Song Weikang realized many issues.
Zhang Yu nodded emphatically. "Right, they might curse, wondering why the old man hasn’t kicked the bucket yet so that they can live the good life after you’re gone."
Zhang Yu was all too familiar with the ways of Members of the Song Family; now, in their eyes, Song Weikang was indeed a burden, a massive burden.
Song Weikang couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly. After not seeing Zhang Yu for a long time, she was still as sharp-tongued as ever, showing no leniency despite his age.
"Can’t you be a bit more considerate? After all, I’m old." As Song Weikang spoke, he toured the courtyard.
Though small, the yard had some flowers planted, all fenced off to keep kids from entering.
The children’s play area took up a large part of the yard. "With two kids, isn’t this play area a bit small?"
After going around, Song Weikang felt very confident about selling the house to Zhang Yu.
