Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted
Chapter 119: I Always Support You
CHAPTER 119: CHAPTER 119: I ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU
Matthias was actually starting to suspect his wife’s slightly odd behavior. Although she hadn’t told him anything, he could already tell from her anxious expression. What had happened to her while he was working at the office that she hadn’t dared to tell him anything? Was it related to their relationship, which still hadn’t been approved? He suspected the culprit who made his wife cry was her stepmother. It was predictable, since the old woman had been declaring war on him for so long, and she had blocked his wife’s family’s company.
"Tory, what’s wrong with you?" Matthias asked softly.
"I’m fine. I just miss you. I was actually overwhelmed with all my work earlier."
"But, you look like you’re crying. Is it true that nothing happened to you?"
"You don’t have to worry about me. Actually, I look like I’m crying because I’m happy to have you."
"By the way, I bought two boxes of brownies for you."
"I want to eat with you." Victoria briefly broke the hug and stroked her husband’s soft cheek. "Are you busy after this?"
"In fact, my purpose in coming here now was to accompany you to eat brownies. I know you’ve been craving them since last night."
Seeing her husband’s sweet demeanor now, she couldn’t bear to break up with him even more. Would she be able to take care of herself until she gave birth? And would she have to raise her child alone without a father? Why was her life made even more difficult by the presence of the snake woman who was trapping her?
Her right hand trembled as she held the brownie. Just as she was about to put a piece in her mouth, her husband immediately took the initiative to feed her without prompting.
"Victoria, you better be honest with me. What’s really wrong with you? Have you seen your stepmother again?"
Victoria widened her eyes when she heard her husband’s guess was almost spot-on. However, she regretted not telling him, as she didn’t want him to know the fact that she was about to marry Amber. She believed her husband couldn’t possibly sleep with Amber secretly, as she knew his true nature so well.
"Matthias, I’ve just been missing you all day and I’m so tired from finishing all the work I’ve been left with since I’ve been away for so long. Don’t worry, it’s not because of our relationship."
"If something really happens to you, you have to tell me."
Victoria smiled mischievously as she fed her husband a rather large brownie. "I won’t lie to you again."
In fact, Victoria was still trying to hide her anxiety so her husband wouldn’t worry too much. Especially since Lucretia was the one making her gloomy all day. She didn’t want Matthias to know that Lucretia was the one who kicked her out again like before.
Even as night fell, she couldn’t sleep, her mind still reeling from Lucretia’s words earlier that day. Although Matthias was asleep, she couldn’t hide her sadness any longer. She let out a cry so loud her chest ached. The sound of her cries jolted him awake from his dream.
Matthias panicked, staring at his wife, who was sobbing and pounding her chest. He immediately embraced her lovingly.
"Victoria... cry as hard as you can if you can’t hold it in."
"Matthias... I’m sorry. Actually, this afternoon I–"
"I know it must be really hard to tell me because you don’t want me to be sad too. I’m not going to scold you for lying."
"What should I do now? Why can’t I live with you? Why should I be the one to give in again?"
"You should never listen to anyone. If you doubt anyone, you can only rely on me. I can’t let you go just like that."
"By the way, is it true that you never spent time with other women while I was away from you?"
Matthias broke the hug and fixed his wife with an intense gaze. "Do I look like a jerk who’s ever kissed or slept with another woman?"
Victoria shook her head quickly. "I knew you couldn’t do it secretly. You’re not the type of man to betray me secretly."
"Victoria, if someone incites you and slanders me, you just ignore their words. If you really trust me, it’s best to forget all their words."
Her tears stopped when she heard her husband’s sweet words. Finally, a sweet smile spread across her beautiful face. She slowly stroked her belly.
"My son, your father is truly the best man I’ve ever met. Now I won’t be sad anymore thanks to your father who always cheers me up. I’m sure you’ll love him dearly, too."
Matthias laughed softly, gazing at his wife’s overly adorable demeanor. He planted a deep kiss on the top of her head.
"Even though many people want to destroy our relationship again, I won’t let them. I’m so sick of fighting with you. We’re not children who have to follow adult orders."
"You’re right. Since you’ve been in my life, I don’t have to worry about anything anymore. I don’t have to face my problems alone, either."
"I don’t like seeing you act like you haven’t married me, even though we’ve been married for more than two years."
Victoria nodded and kissed her husband’s cheek. "Don’t worry, I won’t act alone again. I have a loving husband, so why wouldn’t I need your help?" She pinched his cheek. "But that doesn’t mean I see you as a tool."
*****
The next day, the two cunning women met at a cafe. Amber was ready to reveal her plan to Fransisca to destroy Matthias and Victoria’s relationship in an instant. Meanwhile, Fransisca was ready to reveal a shocking fact to Amber about what she saw during her visit to the hospital.
The two cunning women exchanged haughty glances as they sipped their coffee. Fransisca, in particular, was growing increasingly impatient to resolve this matter.
"By the way, what did you want to see me about?" Amber asked.
"Do you still want to act relaxed after hearing this shocking fact?"
"What are the facts?"
"Victoria was pregnant."
