CHAPTER 215: EXTRA CHAPTER: KAI AND MORRIS TRAGIC LOVE STORY

(Not a continuation. Just a random Chapter that I thought you guys might want to see. But it’s not necessary. You can choose to ignore and not unlock this and the next Chapter if you don’t want to.)

Jo-Pil sat next to the balcony, an open book in front of him with pages that were fluttering thanks to the cool breeze blowing in.

His shoulders, fallen in sadness, and his gaze was heavy, but one could not really see his gaze because he was looking out the window.

With a closer look, you could see that he had come to the end of the book.

Was it a lingering gaze of someone who couldn’t bear to see the end of a good book? Or a gaze filled with regret and pain for how the book ended?

Either way... He was not happy. He had tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Jo-Pil?" Jin-Yeok called as he walked into the dark room, and Jo-Pil turned his head, showing the tears that were rolling down his cheeks.

This caused Jin-Yeok to be alarmed and he rushed to his side.

"Jo-Pil, what’s the matter? Are you hurt anywhere?" He asked but Jo-Pil simply wrapped his arms around Jin-Yeok and buried his head.

"It hurts." He said. "The ending, it hurts so much."

Jin-Yeok saw the book that fell to the ground as Jo-Pil held him.

Was he crying because of a book? He knew Jo-Pil liked reading a lot but... Wasn’t this too much?

If he didn’t know any better, he might’ve assumed that Jo-Pil was using the book to cover up his own pain but it looked like Jo-Pil was indeed crying because of the book.

He liked that Jo-Pil was confiding in him and taking the initiative to hold him but... He didn’t like him in tears.

"Why does it hurt?" Jin-Yeok asked.

"It’s because there was no happy ending. They... Both suffered and then that had to happen. It... It’s not fair." Jo-Pil said, more tears dropping from his eyes and soaking Jin-Yeok’s shirt.

Jin-Yeok brushed his hair, stroking him gently in hopes that he would feel better but it didn’t.

"Then, what is it about?" He asked. Maybe this would make him feel better. "Why are you in pain on behalf of the character?"

The name of the book was ’A willow growing on a bloody sea’ and it centered around two characters, a Mafia boss and an ordinary civilian who just so happened to come into his life, his dangerous and bloody life.

Kai and Moris.

The tragedy of this book occurred when Kai lost his memories.

*****

Kai, having black hair that fell to his face, hiding the scar on his right forehead, sat on the bench of a children’s playground, staring at the kids. He did not know how he had walked all the way there without realizing it.

He stared at the children’s playground but why was it so familiar? He did not remember. Maybe it was a part of his memory that he could not recall. But what exactly would he have been doing in a children’s playground in the first place?

He could’ve just walked away from there but he decided to sit a little longer. His men would come to pick him up soon.

Lately, his legs had been taking him to places that felt familiar but, at the same time, unfamiliar.

"Hup!" A kid sat next to him. A small boy with blonde hair.

Kai paid no heed to this kid. He sat with his back straight and his legs crossed. He closed his eyes for a moment but by the time he opened his eyes, he found the little boy staring at him.

His interest fell on his hair, but aside from that... There was something else. A lingering memory in his head.

What was it?

He never tried to recall his memories after he lost them but right now... Staring at this blonde boy, his heart began to sink for some reason.

’Maybe I just need a smoke.’ He disregarded the environment he was in and took out his pack of cigarettes, he picked one out, placed the butt in his, mouth, and was about to light it when a voice said in his head,

"See, I told you ever so often. You don’t care for anyone else but yourself."

He passed and gasped as if startled, causing the cigarette to fall from his mouth.

Who said that to him? He did not recall anybody telling him those words. His men would not dare say such things to him, so... Who?

"Mister," he heard the little boy’s voice, and turned his head to find him stretching his cigarette back to him and smiling. "It’s not good to waste things, Mister." He said. "So, don’t let it fall next time."

Those words...

Kai’s lips began to quiver and slowly, he started recalling it.

That blonde guy who followed him around, even when he made it clear that he did not trust him, even when he made it clear that he would kill him if he got too close. He warned him so many times, yet he would so boldly and brazenly approach him with a bright smile on his lips.

That... Simpleton.

"What’s the matter, Kai?" He heard the voice in the distance but when he looked up, all he could see was an image, a mirage playing from his mind.

His smile... He could see it. It was warm but so far.

"I don’t care what you say, I will always stick next to you. And..." The voice softened. "If you have to kill me in the end, I promise you, I won’t resist."

Kai stretched his hand towards the mirage playing in front of him, but just as it was, his hands could not reach it. It cleared up, leaving Kai with only a moment of realization.

Slowly, the rest of his memories started flooding in. The blonde guy who did not leave his side even after being threatened over and over. He was resilient. Stupidly and foolishly resilient that his men began to suspect him.

Even Kai suspected him but not as much as his heart began to yearn for him.

Was it his resilience that made him fall in love with him? Or was it the soft blonde hair that rested on his head, making him shine each time he smiled so heartily?

"Moris!" His lips let out a soft mutter and a giggling voice played in his head.

"Yup, that’s my name. Hehe. You better make sure to remember it, okay? Because you’ll have to start calling me by my name from now on, instead of ’that guy’, I hate it when you call me that."

"Moris," Kai called again, more memories flooding his head. "My Morris. My..."
