Chapter 216: Extra - 2
CHAPTER 216: EXTRA CHAPTER 2
"Moris," Kai called again, more memories flooding his head. "My Morris. My..."
And then he remembered the end of it. They were attacked and he took a stab for Morris. The attackers beat him up severely, as well as Moris but all the while, Moris tried to shield him with his body, hoping to take on more of the damage.
He lost consciousness after Morris pulled out the knife. What happened after that? What happened?
He held his head as he remembered waking up with no memories of the recent year. No memories of Moris.
Moris...
"Boss, this is the guy who led you on and put you in danger. We tried to get information out of him while you were hospitalized but he won’t say a thing." His man said and Kai, looking cold and distant, squinted his eyes at the man sitting on the torture chair.
He was bloody all over, with scars and fresh wounds, and his blonde hair was dyed scarlet.
His face was bruised and unrecognizable but that look in his eyes. As he looked up at Kai, his lips slowly curled up and he said these words,
"Thank goodness."
The words of relief that left his mouth did not reach Kai who had no idea who he was.
"If he does not want to talk even till now and after all this," Kai said and turned around, backing him. "Then just send him on his way. We don’t need to keep filth in our possession."
Moris watched Kai’s back as he walked towards the light, tears slowly flowing down his bloody cheeks, but he did not stop smiling.
However, his smile was hard and bitter.
"I said I would accept it." He said, bringing Kai to a halt. "I said I would accept it if you had to kill me. But would you please accept my request?"
Kai turned around, showing his expressionless face and Moris spoke,
"Would you please send me on my way with your own hands?"
Kai recalled this and grabbed his head, his cold and expressionless face contorting in pain as his feelings came back, as well as the realization of what he had done.
"If you do," Moris said, "I will remember it when I get to my next life and maybe then..." He wheezed softly, his breath itchy as he held his tears from falling even more. "We can both be happy."
Kai looked towards the torture table and saw a knife.
"I was told I was stabbed." Kai said as he went to pick up the knife. He started walking towards Moris and with every stride, Kai knew his seconds were already counting.
But even then, he was going to accept it.
"So," he stared at Moris with bloodshot eyes. "I will grant you your request and send you on your way with this."
He lifted his hand holding the knife and Moris smiled once more, showing no fear. Just a tear rolling down his eye.
"See you soon, Kai."
Kai stabbed him right in the heart, and that was the point where Kai began to lose his mind.
He fell from the bench he was sitting on, clutching his chest and his head.
How could he? How could he have ended him with his own hands?
"Moris! What have I...? What have I done to you?" His tears fell heavily and he cried.
He, the cold and expressionless man who handled everything and everyone with an iron fist, cried so hard that even the babies couldn’t compare to him.
The people around started getting worried about what was going on. Why was the scary man crying all of a sudden?
"My Morris! Why? Why?"
He couldn’t stop. His heart was hurting too much, and his eyes wouldn’t stop producing tears.
"Mister," The little boy called and hugged him, surprising him. "It’s not your fault."
Kai heard those words, but more than anything, he wanted to die.
It was his fault. It was his fault.
He had put Moris in danger and in the end, he killed him with his own hands.
If it wasn’t his fault then whose fault was it?
"My Moris," he cried, rivers of tears falling from his eyes. "My Morris. What do I do? My Morris."
His men arrived and seeing their boss broken to the floor and crying, they got confused and couldn’t even approach.

Jo-Pil cried, clutching Jin-Yeok’s shirt.
"Moris, that stupid idiot." Jo-Pil cursed our, trembling.
It was just a novel but he felt it so well to his bones that one would think it was a story about his friend.
"Why would he let Kai kill him? Why? He only left Kai to regret for the rest of his life. He..."
"Jo-Pil, please calm down." Jin-Yeok said. "It’ll be over once you calm yourself down."
"No, it won’t." Jo-Pil said, his eyes falling sadly. "And that’s because, each time I think about it, I can’t help but put myself in their shoes. The horrible way they’d feel. How it would feel so much better to die than have the memory of me killing my lover with my own hands hunt me for the rest of my life."
He stopped trembling and then looked up at Jin-Yeok.
"The author didn’t give them a choice in this, did they?"
"No, they did not." Jin-Yeok hugged him. "But I’m sure that if they had a choice, they would’ve walked a completely different path."
"Yes, they would’ve."
The torment Kai would feel at the end of it all... It would be too much and he was sure Kai would inevitably take his own life.
But first, he would burn down everything since that was the kind of character he was.
"Come on, you’ve cried a lot." Jin-Yeok said, wiping his tears. "It’s already time for dinner and yet you’re crying your eyes out like this."
"I couldn’t help it." Jo-Pil said and Jin-Yeok helped him blow his nose.
"There, there, you live in the novels you read too much." He said. "It won’t be good for your health if you cry for each and every bad ending so relent a bit, okay?"
Jo-Pil nodded.
"Okay."
When they got down for dinner, the others were shocked to find Jo-Pil’s eyes puffy.
They even threatened to burn Jin-Yeok at the stake for making Jo-Pil cry, but Jo-Pil explained it to them, laughing as he prayed that a situation where they lost their memories and completely forgot about him would never arise.
