CHAPTER 394: WHAT GENRE DO YOU LIKE?

"Jo-Pil look at this," Seo-Jun said as we got down from the cart. "I got a nice souvenir,"

I turned and found him holding a horse whip. A dirty thought immediately flashed through my mind and I reacted.

"Ahh! Get that thing away from me." I hid behind Min-Cheol, peeking at him and he laughed.

"Isn’t it a beauty? It’s so fine. It’s a brand new one and will probably work like magic, making all the nicest sounds." He said, pressing the whip to his face as he grinned to me, trying to seduce me into his painful fetish.

But that thing scared me, and more so while it was in his hand.

"I don’t care. I definitely won’t go through with what you have in mind." I said but then he grinned.

"Oh? And what exactly do you ’think’ I have in mind?" He asked and I shuddered.

This pervert!

He laughed and handed the horse whip to one of the guards to take away.

"Don’t cry, I’m not going to do it. I know you hate pain the most, haha." He said and I growled at him.

He knows and yet still messes with me like that.

I just can’t believe him when he pulls stunts like this. Dangerous stunts, trying to sound me out.

As soon as we got inside the mansion, I saw a table full of sweets and snacks. It was a delicious heaven for me and I stuffed my face, leaving away the fear I felt just now as I saw Seo-Jun holding a horsewhip.

While eating, Min-Cheol suddenly wiped the cream stuck at the corner of my lips with his thumb and licked it.

"Cute," he mumbled and I flushed.

No, you’re the cute one. Don’t do this to me while I’m eating. I could have a heart attack or even choke on the food.

"It’s so tasty," I heard Jie-Yu say, and I was glad she could at least express herself even though there were ’dragons’ in the table, haha.

"Right? The chef makes the best pastries I’ve ever tasted." I said.

"It’s just so good. It melts in my mouth so sweetly." She added.

"Ah, you should try the steak he makes as well. Douse it with a bit of wine and it’s basically chef’s kiss." I added and she laughed.

"I’ll look forward to it then."

I turned to Seo-Jun who was staring at his phone. He was so serious that it looked like he wouldn’t want anyone to distract him.

"What are you doing?" I asked, curious about what he had on his screen, and he raised his brow, not even looking my way.

"The novel I’m following just got an update." He said. "I’ll read this really quick and then focus on you," he rolled his eyes to me as he said that, smirked, and then rolled his eyes back to his phone.

I nearly forgot Seo-Jun was an avid reader.

I knew it. Those times when he was staring at his phone and not even paying attention to our banter at the table were when he was reading.

How interesting must that book be for him to read it so impatiently?

I licked my spoon, watching as his eyes scrolled from one end to another at an insane speed. I knew he was a fast reader but this was crazy. Was he even getting the words in his head by reading that way?

It was no wonder he was able to finish the book as soon as I handed it over to him, when I was still writing the ’otherworldly’ novel for him.

I wish I had that talent. I’d be able to read books twice as fast but I’m okay with the speed I have right now.

It allows me to savor the texts a bit more.

"Ah, by the way, Jie-Yu," I called and she lifted her head from her nearly flinched strawberry cake. "Do you like reading?"

"Do you mean novels? Of course." She said, smiling brightly, that smile shone so much that it felt like a savior had emerged.

It was blinding.

To think she would also be a reader.

I mean, I don’t think there are that many girls who don’t read books either.

"What genre do you like more?" I asked. I expected her to say something along the lines of romance but she beat my expectations.

"Well, I like fantasy with a lot of action." As she said this, Seo-Jun’s ear perked up.

"Really?" I was astonished.

"Yeah, romance is not exactly my thing." She said, smiling awkwardly and I wondered.

She looked like the romance girl, though. Wait, I shouldn’t think like that, but I just didn’t picture her as an action-loving character.

Well, her current character probably doesn’t show it, but after her turnaround in the future, she will definitely look like a woman with a lot of action in her.

Thinking of this, I snickered.

Well, no matter what she read, a reader was always a reader.

And I didn’t stick to romance novels either. I liked a bit of mythology, and read action quite a bit too. There were a few books like this in the library so I occupied myself.

I turned to Seo-Jun.

He was an all-rounder, that one.

"It’s cool," I said, smiling at her. "Can you recommend me an action series that’ll get me hyped then?"

"Ah, hold on. I have just the thing." She said and took out her phone, scrolling through, and then showed me her screen. "This one. It’s mfavoritee favourite. You definitely have to check this one out if you want to read an action genre with a lot of action-packed content."

The cover looked catchy.

"Are you sure you’re not just saying that because it’s your favorite?" I asked, with an arched brow and a teasing grin but she shook her head, very affirmative with her choice.

"No, it’s definitely great. Trust me."

She said and I decided to take a good look at it.

"Lore’s Lord?" I called the title out and all of a sudden, Seo-Jun snatched the phone.

It startled both of us as we looked at him, wondering what he was up to, but he simply stared at the screen.

"What is it, Seo-Jun?" I asked, wondering the reason for his behavior, and then he smirked, tossing the phone back, and she barely caught it.

"I was wondering why my ear kept itching when you guys were talking." He said. "Turns out, our interests align."

I tilted my head.

What did that mean?

"Since anyone who loves Lore’s Lord can be considered a decent person, I’ll give you a gift." He said but his words didn’t make sense to me.

If I analyzed it clearly, it looked like he was also a fan of that fiction. He was a hard fan, if he went that far and was grinning from ear to ear.

But... A gift?

Why did he suddenly want to give her a gift?

"I... I don’t really know what you mean." Jie-Yu said, confused.

"Well, you just need to know that I’m also a fan of that work and I look favorably at anyone else who does." He said. "Only a few people can understand the true masterpiece it holds."

My heart was suddenly feeling uncomfortable.

I mean, this was good. It was good that he was finally having a normal conversation with Jie-Yu but that’s how it’s going to end, right?

Just them having the same interest.

’I don’t want him to pay her any more interest.’ A selfish and jealous thought skimmed through my head and I shut my eyes.

I shouldn’t worry. I have nothing to worry about.

He may be like this now but it’s simply because they like the same book. He won’t do anything more.

But then... What was this unease I was feeling?

It seemed like Seo-Jun’s trait of having sex with anyone he held a little bit of interest in, made me feel uncomfortable.

Sure, he’s refrained a lot and hasn’t had sex with another since he told me he wouldn’t, but what if he suddenly decides to do it?

Can I stop him?

Will he even let me stop him?

And what if the one he wants to do it with is... I looked at Jie-Yu who was looking a bit awkward but excited as Seo-Jun went on and on about the book.

It’s not entirely impossible.

And if it does happen... Who do I have to blame but myself? I’m the one who brought her into this house.

I...

"Hyung, are you fine?" Min-Cheol asked, and I jolted out of my thoughts, looked at him with heavy pants, and noticed he was holding my already clammy and clenched hand. "You don’t seem fine."

"What?" I smiled, trying to brush it under the rug. "I’m fine. I just... Had something in my mind."

But Min-Cheol knew I was far from fine, seeing the cold sweat that was dripping down my forehead.

"If you’re tired, you could go rest." He said to me and I decided that might just be the best thing to do now.

I didn’t know I could be so jealous when someone else was getting close to my man, having the same interests as them.

I’m far more possessive than I realized, but it’ll be fine. Let’s look at the bright side.

Unless Seo-Jun wants me to hate him, he wouldn’t dare try to do something like that with my friend.

"I’ll go up and rest now," I said, getting you from the chair and Jie-Yu got up as well.

"Are you not feeling well?" She asked but I just gazed at her.

How would she react if she knew the reason I was like this now was because I was scared she would end up sleeping with one of my men?

I smiled at her.

"I just feel tired. A little sleep should fix it." I said and turned to leave.

Min-Cheol walked with me, and I gazed at Seo-Jun, who gazed back.

What? Why was he looking at me like that? That clueless and worried look on his face.

This... This was all his fault.
