Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 365

The streets weren’t very crowded. Most of the migrant workers had gone back to their hometowns for New Year, leaving the city feeling quieter than usual.

The streetlights along the sidewalk lit up, painting the rows of trees in bright, colorful light.

Half the shops were closed, but in one of the rare milk tea stores still open, Ning Chu sat sipping her drink and tapping away on her phone.

“If I’d known it would be like this, I would’ve just gone straight to the rental apartment...”

She sighed softly. Writing was always easier on a computer than on a phone, and besides—she could’ve played games there too.

“Why hasn’t he gotten off work early today? There’s barely any customers...”

Her eyes drifted again toward the stand-alone restaurant across the street. She swung her leg impatiently.

It had already been two hours!

After dinner she’d come here to wait for Wen Yang, planning to give him a surprise—or maybe just to check if any of his coworkers were a flirtatious vixen. But she’d ended up waiting and waiting...

“Miss, I’m clocking out now.”

Just as Ning Chu was about to order another drink, the shop assistant—a kid who looked no older than sixteen or seventeen—reminded her gently.

“Alright...”

At least she’d managed to write a whole chapter for her novel, so it hadn’t been a total waste of time.

Stepping out of the shop, the cold night wind sliced against her dry skin like a knife. She shivered, hunched her shoulders, and buried her chin into the plaid scarf around her neck.

It was the coldest part of the year, with lows close to zero degrees.

She couldn’t help it—she gave up on the “surprise” idea and sent a text instead:

“What time are you off?”

In moments, Wen Yang replied:

“I’m waiting for the bus.”

“???”

When did he get off work?! She hadn’t even noticed!

Her eyes darted to the bus stop, and sure enough, she quickly spotted his tall figure standing under the shelter.

Sneaking up behind him, Ning Chu tiptoed, stretched out her arms, and covered his eyes with her hands. Using a disguised voice, she asked:

“Guess who I am?”

A whiff of her fragrance drifted over, and Wen Yang’s nose twitched. He muttered dryly:

“What kind of childish idiot is this?”

“Guess!”

Her palms were soft and fair, but her ten fingers were swollen red like little carrots. Mixed with the faint scent of a young girl was a hint of milkiness... Wen Yang didn’t need to guess—his brain had already supplied the answer.

“Hmm, let me think... Is it Xinyi?”

“What the hell! Who’s that?!” Ning Chu dropped the act instantly, her voice rising. “Guess again!”

“Then it must be Siqi?”

She immediately kicked him in the shin.

“Oh~ so there are others? Spit it out!”

Wen Yang turned around, amusement flickering in his eyes. His smile was gentle.

“No. There’s only you.”

“Pfft!”

Ning Chu turned her head away with a pout, pretending to be furious.

“Go find your Xinyi and Siqi, then~”

“Alright, alright. I was wrong, I won’t tease you.”

“You think just saying ‘wrong’ is enough?”

Wen Yang gave her a helpless look.

“Then what do you want me to do? Buy you supper?”

“Well... I suppose that’ll do.”

“It’s the holiday, I don’t know if the night market’s even open.”

Before he could finish, Ning Chu slipped her arm through his and pulled.

“Let’s go! Supper!”

But then Wen Yang bent his head and lowered his voice.

“There’s a love hotel in the other direction. I hear the soundproofing’s great—you wouldn’t have to hold back.”

“...”

Ning Chu froze. Her face, already red from the cold, turned scarlet. She glared up at him in shame and anger.

“We’re talking about supper! Why are you bringing that up? Your brain’s full of dirty thoughts!”

“Huh? Weren’t you planning to ‘eat me’?”

“No! Pervert!”

...Okay, yes—she had been thinking that earlier. But since he’d said it out loud, her embarrassment flipped into sheer denial.

Wen Yang tried persuading her again:

“Just give it a try? It’s not that expensive, I’ll pay for it.”

“I don’t want to! And besides, where would you even get the money?”

“From Huabei.” He grabbed Ning Chu’s wrist and started pulling her toward the hotel.

“Come on, come on, stop being stubborn.”

“As if!”

Ning Chu stumbled after him, struggling and protesting:

“Can’t you think about something else for once?”

“And hotels are expensive, okay? One night costs as much as two days of work.”

“You—” She pulled back lightly, only to freeze when she realized Wen Yang’s hand had actually let go.

She had slipped free that easily?

For a moment she stood dumbfounded, then quickly darted forward and shoved her wrist back into Wen Yang’s hand, as if nothing had happened.

After crossing a street, the two arrived at an unremarkable-looking inn.

The sign read “Couples Hotel” rather than “Love Hotel,” which eased Ning Chu’s nerves a little.

“I heard these kinds of hotels often have hidden cameras,” she whispered into Wen Yang’s ear.

“What if we end up on some spycam site?”

“Can’t be that bad, right?” Wen Yang scratched his head.

“I’ll check it later, don’t worry.”

“Why would I be worried!? We won’t do anything weird!”

Yet somehow, he could already smell the faint trace of a succubus’ arousal.

The two looked around curiously as they stepped inside, heading to the front desk to check in.

It was Ning Chu’s first time in a place like this. She glanced at the rate card and noticed that the price wasn’t much different from a normal inn.

Still, her heart tensed with unease, half-expecting to find something strange inside the room.

Just as she was lost in thought, the entrance door opened again.

Ning Chu turned around—and froze on the spot, locking eyes with her mother, who had just walked in.

“……”

Mother and daughter stared at each other, unsure what kind of expression was even appropriate for a situation like this.

As Ning Chu’s toes curled so hard she felt she might scratch out a whole apartment, Ning Juan paused for only a moment before calmly pretending to see nothing, lowering her head and walking straight toward the back hallway.

As expected of a mom—her mental fortitude was top tier!

Wen Yang finished checking in and, glancing at the departing figure, muttered:

“That back looks kinda like Auntie?”

“You must’ve seen wrong,” Ning Chu forced a laugh.

Judging by this, the hotel’s soundproofing must actually be really good—otherwise, why would her mother choose this place?

Maybe… she was even a regular here…

Wen Yang scratched his head in confusion and looked at the room card:

“Room 107. This way.”

“This way?!”

“Hm? What’s wrong?”

Crap! Were they about to become neighbors with her mom?

“N-no, nothing…”

Wen Yang gave her a suspicious look, but Ning Chu had already hurried ahead, keeping her face hidden from view.

“107…”

Fortunately, it was separated from her mother’s room by two doors—not far, but not right next door either.

Ning Chu sighed, utterly despairing. She hadn’t expected things to be this coincidental.

She opened the room, composed herself, and peeked inside.

It didn’t look much different from an ordinary inn room—except the lighting was an ambiguous pink-purple, the bed was round, and the ceiling held a massive mirror.

Aside from that…

Ning Chu’s eyes immediately fell on a strangely shaped chair.

She didn’t know what it was called, but it was something she’d often seen in those hentai doujin—the kind that could fix your legs in place and force you into shameful poses.

As expected of the place her mother had chosen, it’s filled with lewd stuff!
