Trapped in Paradise
Chapter 371
The alarm bells in Ning Chu’s head were ringing nonstop.
Her brain was overheating from overclocking, yet she still couldn’t recall ever writing a potential heroine named An Han.
In her hentai novel, most of the potential heroines had lazy placeholder names like Lily or Wen Wen. Normally, recalling names was the most efficient way to jog her memory.
But this time, it wasn’t working.
Could it be that An Han wasn’t even a potential heroine? She was just… a regular passerby?
No way. Ordinary people weren’t supposed to be this pretty. Even someone on Yan Xinya’s level was already a rare sight.
Feeling completely baffled, Ning Chu thought about the fact that her past life and current one were parallel worlds. Other than characters from her novel, every passerby here should have a real-world counterpart—it was just that the average face-value here was higher, and their lives didn’t necessarily line up.
So, if this girl really was just a passerby… then in her previous world, she must’ve been stunning enough to turn heads everywhere too.
And that figure! She had to be a succubus!
Just judging from appearance, she might’ve been on par with Ning Chu and Lily, the two “succubi” themselves. But what really stood out was that unique aura—the magnetic charm that drew people in.
Just a couple of glances, and Ning Chu found her guard inexplicably lowering, her gaze softening against her will. She quickly caught herself, pressing her lips together, a bit flustered.
When she looked back at her mother and the shop owner, she saw that both of them were also treating An Han with a warmth, even friendliness.
Charm that worked on both men and women! This was insane!
No, this couldn’t go on. She had to investigate. She had to confirm whether this woman was a potential heroine or not.
Even if she wasn’t, there was no way she could allow Wen Yang to run into her!
While An Han was teasing Black Bean, her gaze kept drifting toward Ning Chu, thick with puzzlement.
Why did it feel like this girl disliked her on first sight?
After a moment of thought, An Han gave up trying to figure it out.
“Boss lady, I’ll take this set.”
“Of course,” the shop owner said warmly. “Since you’re buying, how about I give you a 20% discount?”
“Twenty percent, huh? I’ll have another look first.”
Meanwhile, Ning Chu had her head down, frantically searching her novel for keywords on her phone.
Sure enough, An Han had never appeared in her book. Still, maybe she was just one of those minor unnamed extras.
She hesitated, then tried searching succubus instead.
Pretty, curvy, with charm that worked on everyone—if she wasn’t a succubus, then who was?
Still nothing.
“Let’s go. We came out to shop, not to stare at your phone,” her mother reminded.
“Mm.” Ning Chu quickly stuffed her phone away and followed. As she left, she glanced back at the girl picking lingerie.
And right then, An Han lifted her head. Their eyes met.
Caught red-handed staring, Ning Chu panicked, quickly averting her gaze and hurrying after her mother.
“Mom that big sister felt even prettier than Sis just now”
“They are not that different, actually. Your sister just lacks a bit of presence,” her mom teased with a smile at Ning Chu. “After all, she’s only been a girl for a short while, right?”
Ning Chu ignored that and changed the subject: “Mom, do you think she’s a succubus?”
“Doesn’t look like it. Her ears are normal, see?”
Almost subconsciously, Ning Chu touched her own ears. As a succubus, hers were just a little sharper than average—not super obvious, but enough to make them convenient targets for Wen Yang’s teasing.
So no succubus powers, not a novel character, yet still gorgeous and curvy…
That woman was basically a succubus in disguise.
Ning Chu glanced back again and saw An Han leaving the lingerie shop, shopping bag in hand, heading toward the far end of the street.
She probably lived in the nearby neighborhood.
“You care that much about her?” her mom teased. “Afraid she’ll steal Wen Yang away? You’re guarding him like a treasure.”
“No… I just don’t see girls that pretty very often.”
“True enough. For someone who can stand toe-to-toe with my daughter, you don’t see that every day.”
After buying underwear, the family also swung by the wet market.
Ning Chu temporarily shoved that girl to the back of her mind. Since An Han wasn’t a novel character and was already married with kids, at least she didn’t need to worry about her throwing herself at Wen Yang.
As for whether Wen Yang might fall in love at first sight?
At that point, Ning Chu still had confidence.
That was her protagonist, after all. After all the time she’d spent “training” him, even if Wen Yang sometimes had the same stray little thoughts that every man had, he would never act on them.
Otherwise, she’d break his third leg.
Thinking about it carefully, Wen Yang was actually pretty pitiful. A protagonist who, in the novel, was supposed to live the good life—surrounded by beauties, enjoying endless nights of pleasure—had been forcibly reshaped by her into a one-woman-only pure romance protagonist.
“Mom, I’m heading back first, okay?”
As they passed by their apartment complex, Ning Chu immediately stopped, already stepping toward the gate as she spoke.
“Lazy, even for grocery shopping.”
“You have Black Bean helping you~ I’m going ahead!”
“Take your bag with you!”
Snatching up the shopping bag with the lingerie, Ning Chu dashed off toward home.
That girl was just too dangerous. Even if she was only a passerby, Ning Chu still needed to go through her novel front to back again, just to make sure nothing unexpected popped up.
Back home, she stormed into her bedroom.
“I’m trying to catch up on sleep—can you not make so much noise?”
Lying in bed, Ning Yuan stirred awake, grumbling as he rolled over: “Feels like I sleep less on vacation than I do when I’m working.”
“I’ll be out of here in a sec.”
“Close the door behind you.”
Ning Chu moved more carefully, glancing back at her brother in bed.
A girl’s room wasn’t really a place for a man to be hanging around long-term, but since it was her brother, she didn’t mind. After all, they’d shared the same bed since they were little.
Carrying her laptop, she plopped down cross-legged on the living room sofa, resting it on her thighs. Her slender fingers brushed across the touchpad as her eyes scanned her cheesy novel line by line.
Confirmed—An Han really was just a passerby.
And with her mother’s “certification,” she wasn’t even a succubus.
Ridiculous. How could someone be that pretty? And that curvy, yet still perfectly proportioned and graceful?
Could she actually be the heroine of some other novel?
Ning Chu lowered her eyes, glancing at her chest. With her new lingerie, she could at least confidently brag to her girl friends that she was a C cup now—but compared to An Han, she was still smaller.
And that woman had already given birth! Ugh…
Her phone suddenly rang. Ning Chu glanced at the caller ID and answered casually: “Hello? Wen Yang?”
“I won’t be coming to your place for lunch. Shaoqing’s dragging me out to job hunt.”
“What’s wrong with him? Chickening out?”
On the other end, Zhang Shaoqing’s indignant yell burst through: “Bullshit! Me, chicken out?!”
Ning Chu snorted. “Then why are you dragging Wen Yang along?”
“I don’t trust him hanging around you all day. He’s gonna end up kidney-deficient~”
“…”
Don’t talk nonsense! With Wen Yang’s body—raised by her to be vigorous as a dragon—even she, a succubus, could hardly handle him.
Honestly, she should’ve held back on feeding him so much meat and supplements every day. Now she was the one suffering for it.
