“Nothing.”

“Still thinking about that girl from earlier?” Ning Juan teased as she set the groceries down. “She moved here last year. Hard to believe this is your first time seeing her.”

“You know her?”

“Feet off the table!” Ning Juan scolded, “You’re a girl, not some sloppy guy.”

“Oh…”

Remembering An Han’s graceful, captivating demeanor, Ning Chu obediently put her feet down.

How was she supposed to compare? She was just a half-baked girl, while that woman was the original, factory-standard model.

Still grumbling in her head, Ning Chu followed her mom into the kitchen.

“Mom, you’ve actually met her before? I’ve never seen her around.”

“Of course I have—we’ve even played mahjong together.” Her mom chuckled. “She’s a civil servant, stable job, and her husband’s rich and good-looking.”

“So she’s a proper rich young lady, huh~”

“Unlike you, who dragged home a broke kid.”

Ning Chu clicked her tongue. “Grandpa has money too, doesn’t he? You’re a pampered heiress yourself, and you still went and married a broke kid. Got scammed too, remember?”

Her mom’s eyes widened, raising a hand to smack her. Ning Chu yelped and scrambled out of the kitchen before she could get hit.

So unreasonable! She was the one who started teasing me first!

Quickly changing the subject, Ning Chu called out:

“Mom, make extra food at lunch. A classmate of mine’s coming over.”

Ning Juan froze, giving her a strange look as she scanned Ning Chu up and down.

“Sure… looks like your body’s holding up well, huh?”

“Not like that! Just a classmate!” Ning Chu’s face turned red. “How could I possibly be dating two people?”

Yes, these days she did feel physically uncomfortable if she went too long without “relieving herself,” but mentally she was still within the bounds of a normal person! Not like those lust-obsessed succubi who hosted wild orgies and swapped men like outfits.

Sharing boyfriends? No thanks. That was nightmare fuel. She wasn’t about to re-enact her own NTR scenario.

“I never said you were dating two. Why so defensive?” Ning Juan muttered, lowering her head to keep chopping vegetables.

Ning Chu bent down to put on her shoes, opening her mouth expectantly.

“Mhm.” She stuffed a piece of beef jerky into her mouth, her words a little muffled as she asked Black Bean, “When does your tutoring class start?”

“In a week. The teachers are all going home for New Year’s first~”

“Remember to finish your practice books at home. I’ll buy you a sausage when I get back.”

Ning Chu sighed in worry. Even though she hadn’t spent all that much time with Black Bean, she had already come to see this little cat as her own younger sister through and through. She had to make sure her mother kept a close eye on her—no early romance allowed! Absolutely no dating before graduating college!

Leaving home, she walked to the subway station not far from her complex. She hadn’t waited long before spotting two people coming out of the train.

Zhang Shaoqing had his hands stuffed in his pockets, his back a little hunched, his expression set in a careless smirk—he looked every bit like a small-time punk.

Wen Yang, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. He always carried that warm, gentle smile of his, like a breeze brushing softly over the heart. Just one glance at him could calm Ning Chu’s mood. And when his eyes landed on the little succubus, his smile became even softer, brimming with affection and possessiveness that almost spilled over.

“Wen Yang!”

Ning Chu ran forward and, as always, slipped her arms around his, tilting her face up toward his handsome features. Rising on her toes, she whispered teasingly into his ear, “There’s a super evil enchantress living near my house~”

“Hm?”

“She’s gorgeous! Way prettier than me or Lily, prettier than TV stars! Even after having a baby, her figure’s still perfect~ Her skin’s like it’s got a beauty filter on! And she’s like a vixen—you can’t help but like her when you see her! Even I almost lost control!”

“Is it really that exaggerated?”

“Of course! Damn! I’m so jealous~”

If only she could have that kind of aura herself… she’d definitely have Wen Yang completely wrapped around her finger!

She muttered this under her breath, then suddenly realized what she was saying. “Hey, you better watch yourself! Don’t let her set her sights on you! Not that she’d ever go for someone like you anyway~”

Wen Yang chuckled and nodded helplessly. “Alright, I get it.”

Feeling his strange gaze on her, Ning Chu froze. The tips of her ears flushed bright red. She quickly dropped back onto her heels, brushed her long hair behind her ears, and took a step back to put a little space between them.

Being this lovey-dovey with Wen Yang in front of her roommate—ugh, it was way too embarrassing!

“Come on, I’ll take you guys to a nearby place to eat, and we’ll check if there’s any day jobs available. There’s this fast food joint I’ve been going to since I was a kid—the food’s really good~”

“I’m good with anything.” Zhang Shaoqing yawned widely. “Where were you two last night anyway? Coming back so early in the morning?”

“Why the hell should I report to you?”

“Hey, leaving me, your guest, all alone—that’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?”

Ning Chu shot him a look of pure disdain. “Hurry up and find a job, then go live in a hotel! You’re just in the way!”

“C’mon, we’re bros~” Zhang Shaoqing slung an arm around Wen Yang’s neck, grinning.

“We shared a dorm for half a year in college, remember? How am I in the way?”

Wen Yang peeled his arm off in disgust.

Shameless. Truly shameless!

If she weren’t trying to keep herself distracted from lewd thoughts, Ning Chu would’ve already kicked him straight into a gutter!
