CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 23: NORTHERN CONTINENT 1
On the vast, endless sea.
Su Ziyu, a little bored, was playing with his black dagger, furrowing his brows. Next to him was Lady Judy in a red dress, her dress hem lifted by the sea breeze, revealing a pair of fair, slender legs.
"Still worried about Melissa?" Judy’s gentle voice floated over.
Su Ziyu glanced at her, nodded, and said, "Yes."
On the second day after boarding the ship.
Melissa took the Trial Potion prepared for her by Lady Elena, and from then on, he hadn’t seen the girl again.
The chance of a Demon Hunter passing the Magic Potion Trial is not high.
Even though Van Helsing spoke with confidence, these past two days, he too looked worried. Occasionally, they could hear Melissa’s painful screams from the cabin, and now three female Warlocks were tending and guarding her.
For this, Su Ziyu had no means whatsoever.
The birth of a Demon Hunter is so difficult, and it is even more challenging for a woman to become one.
"What is that?" Daisy’s voice suddenly came through.
Seeing everyone looking at her, the female Warlock blushed a bit and said, "I think I just saw something on the water surface."
"It disappeared quickly."
"It looked a bit like a mermaid."
Van Helsing’s voice suddenly came, as he furrowed his brows, glanced at the sea, and slowly said, "That is a Sea Siren."
"They have been following us for a day now."
"Ignore them."
After speaking, he walked over to Su Ziyu and said in a low voice, "They have smelled our scent."
Demon Hunters and witches are different; the smell on them is more attractive to some supernatural beings, and Van Helsing had mentioned before that Sea Sirens could smell them from afar.
"Should we deal with them?" Su Ziyu humbly asked the experienced hand.
Van Helsing shook his head and said, "They are not very bold. They won’t attack big ships."
It takes about seven days to reach the Northern Continent from here, and on the third day, the female Warlocks began to look lazy.
Compared to Demon Hunters, their physical constitution is far inferior. Nicole and Mira were slightly seasick, and when seen occasionally, they looked pale, appearing to have vomited badly.
Daisy was the most lively one on the ship.
Whenever Su Ziyu went on deck to feel the breeze, he would often encounter her. This ship was secretly purchased by the female Warlocks, and the crew seemed to be controlled, each one very obedient.
On the morning of the fifth day.
Su Ziyu finally saw Melissa again; the girl looked extremely fatigued, her whole self appearing noticeably thinner, a strand of long hair drooped on her temple turned white, seemingly suffering immense pain during this period. The Magic Potion Trial for Demon Hunters involves a genetic mutation process, many do not endure it.
"How do you feel?" Su Ziyu walked quickly over and asked.
Melissa looked up at Su Ziyu; her pupils were like a cat’s. Initially, they were round, but when squinting, they turned vertical slowly, "I feel very tired, but I’ve become much stronger too."
"You need to rest now." Van Helsing, with a slightly relieved expression, said.
Melissa’s Magic Potion Trial should have been successful. Su Ziyu looked at Elena beside him but found her looking as if she had something to say but stopped.
After sending Melissa down to rest, Su Ziyu immediately asked, "What’s the matter? Was there a problem with her Magic Potion Trial?"
"Not sure." Elena hesitated slightly, whispered, "Honestly, I don’t know if she succeeded either."
"Her body has received enhancement."
"But..."
Furrowing his brows, Van Helsing said, "But what?"
Elena thought for a moment, then slowly said, "Her current condition is somewhat reminiscent of those exiled Cat School Demon Hunters... Also, her ailment seems to have mutated..."
"Is the problem serious?" Van Helsing frowned and asked.
"Not too serious." After pondering for a moment, Elena said, "But we need to observe for a while. See what specific changes occur."
The night passed without incident.
The next day, Melissa was eagerly challenging Su Ziyu again. With just a few simple exchanges, they discovered that Melissa’s speed had increased to a level that surprised even Su Ziyu.
She was now even swifter and more agile than Van Helsing.
However, her strength improvement wasn’t significant, just much stronger than ordinary people, but still not at the level of other Demon Hunters.
"Her recovery ability is strong."
"Her endurance is astonishing."
Elena, watching from the side and taking notes, whispered, "Such high-intensity combat lasted for half an hour, and she still looks full of stamina."
The female Warlocks’ tests lasted an entire day.
Melissa performed well in every aspect, even showing a strong resistance to toxins, which meant she could endure more Alchemy Potions than other Demon Hunters. However, at night, something unexpected happened. Su Ziyu suddenly heard a muffled sound and when he and Van Helsing hurried over, Melissa was already trapped inside an invisible shield by Lady Inid.
Her eyes slightly reddened, and her expression appeared manic.
"Let her out." Su Ziyu glanced at Van Helsing.
As Lady Inid took down the shield, they simultaneously rushed up, one grabbed Melissa’s hands while the other struck her nape, knocking her out.
"What happened? What’s wrong with her?" Su Ziyu asked with slight concern.
Lady Elena came over, holding a vial of Magic Potion, and said slowly, "Bloodlust."
"None of the other potions caused any problems after she took them, but this potion contained a large amount of blood, and she went into frenzy after consuming it."
Van Helsing listened with furrowed brows and asked in a deep voice, "Does she have a craving for blood?"
"Not currently." Lady Elena shook her head and said, "As long as she doesn’t consume blood or takes potions that primarily consist of blood, she should be fine."
Hearing her words, Van Helsing slightly exhaled in relief.
Melissa had been imprisoned by a Vampire for a long time; after he rescued the girl, he discovered some strange ailments on her. Initially, he even considered killing her, but eventually, he chose to spare her.
"She is sensitive to blood." Lady Elena whispered, "It’s the ability of a Vampire."
"I’m not very knowledgeable about blood mutation."
"But Melissa’s potential should be strong. She just completed the trial and already demonstrated extraordinary speed."
No matter what.
At least Melissa survived the Magic Potion Trial, a process where many Demon Hunter apprentices perish.
Van Helsing must have anticipated these changes; otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to accept Melissa as an apprentice and kept her by his side all along.
