CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: RADIATION GIANT 1

The damned thing outside seems quite large.

After slamming a few times against the iron gate and finding it unmovable, it actually turned around and entered the adjacent room. Then there was a loud thud, and the walls in Su Ziyu’s room started to crack. This maneuver left Su Ziyu momentarily stunned; he had originally thought the iron gate could buy them some time, but he hadn’t expected the monster to be so smart as to know how to break through from another direction. The walls of the underground facility were made of reinforced concrete, incredibly solid, yet they couldn’t withstand the monster’s astonishing power, which forcibly caused one crack after another.

If this force hit a human, they’d likely be shattered instantly.

People outside might already be nearly all dead.

Su Ziyu didn’t hear any gunfire anymore, now he could only hope this wall would hold a bit longer.

"Do we still need to copy this data?" Su Ziyu turned to glance at Pasha.

Pasha shook her head, biting her lip, she said: "No need. We can’t take these things back. Destroy them."

After reviewing the data, the first thing that came to Pasha’s mind was her foster father; he was the one who had told her this place had the formula for antiradiation potions, but now it seemed this was just a lie. What he really wanted was the experiment data. Suddenly, past doubts were all answered at this moment. No wonder he rarely showed up. No wonder people were disappearing in the camp. No wonder corpse ghosts were appearing in the sewers...

He probably had already become the polluted entity mentioned in the experiment data; once exposed to a little high-intensity radiation pollution, it would trigger horrifying mutation reactions.

In this era, antiradiation drugs are essential.

But if these drugs do have unsolvable pollution values, then what is the current situation of the elites who control the pharmaceutical resources?

Are they still alive?

Are they still human?

Thinking of this sent chills down Pasha’s spine!

"Let’s go." Su Ziyu pulled Pasha and headed to the other side of the tunnel.

The woman in a protective suit tossed a grenade underneath the computer and then quickly followed them.

This data cannot be spread.

Otherwise, it will cause great panic. If others learned that the antiradiation potions they’ve been using would slowly accumulate pollution values, eventually possibly turning them into monsters, many might go insane. The short life expectancy of people in this era is due both to the harsh living environment and the scarcity of various medicines. Although this all seemed somewhat cruel, unquestionably, it did suppress the spread of corpse ghosts. Only after extensive use of antiradiation potions would humans accumulate enough pollution value to undergo radiation mutations. Typically, pollution value would increase with age, and in an era where the average lifespan is relatively short, many people die before reaching that stage.

Even if some do become corpse ghosts, their percentage is quite small since most ordinary people don’t have enough medicine to extend their lifespan.

This is also why Su Ziyu hardly saw any elderly people; the average lifespan in this era might be less than forty years.

Boom!

Under another violent collision, the wall cracked again; the monster’s power was terrifyingly immense, and reinforced concrete walls couldn’t hold it back.

"This way." The woman in the protective suit said.

The way out was already blocked by the monster. They didn’t know exactly what was out there, but confronting it head-on seemed unlikely to succeed. However, at this moment, there was no better choice. The three of them could only continue deeper underground; the facility was vast, and there might be other exits.

The best outcome would be if the troops above could come down for support. They had a lot of heavy firepower, which might be able to take down the monster.

Clang clang clang.

As the three passed through a gate, the wall over there was completely smashed through. A humanoid creature around 3.5 meters tall, with dark green skin, rotting pus on its head, severe body deformities, and arms so muscular they looked like fleshy tumors, charged in. Its chest and head were full of bullet marks, but that didn’t kill the monster.

—"Radiation Giant!"

A monster mutated from radiation pollution.

According to the experimental data, their DNA is different from humans; it’s a more dangerous and terrifying monster than a corpse ghost. After radiation mutation, as long as they consume enough flesh, the polluted entity will evolve into a radiation giant. They retain a certain intelligence but are extremely fierce, reckless, and aggressive.

Regular firearms can’t kill such monsters.

You must use heavy firepower, and the team came down this time without heavy weapons.

Thud thud thud!

The monster running around was like a humanoid tank; its thick, lumpy body was covered with horribly strong muscles. Two bulging muscles on its shoulders looked like mutated tumors. It charged forward, slamming into the wall. After cracking the sturdy wall, it shook its head and pursued again.

"Grenade!" Su Ziyu shouted as he ran.

Pasha, without thinking, pulled out a grenade and tossed it to Su Ziyu.

Su Ziyu pulled the pin and threw it over. With a loud bang, the monster stumbled slightly, then continued its pursuit with a leg covered in shrapnel. Its leg had large chunks of flesh blown away, exposing some pale bone, but this didn’t seem to affect its battle capability; the flesh was slowly writhing and healing.

The monster’s size was too big, and it ran too fast. Though clumsy, its legs were too long.

The distance between them was gradually closing.

"There’s no way ahead!" shouted the woman in the protective suit at the front.

Upon hearing this, Su Ziyu’s heart sank, and he quickly asked, "Any more grenades?"

"No." Pasha replied.

FUCK!

Su Ziyu took a turn and dashed into a dead-end, then yelled, "Distract it with your guns!"

Boom.

Ratatatat!

The monster once more rammed into the wall; they were now at a T-junction, with Su Ziyu on the left, Pasha and the unfamiliar woman on the right, and the dreaded radiation giant in the middle. Hearing Su Ziyu’s voice, Pasha, without hesitation, pulled out her gun and fired wildly. The bullets on the monster seemed like mere tickles, barely having any effect. It turned, growling towards Pasha’s direction, then suddenly accelerated as if to smash the tiny figures before it into a pulp.

But!

Moving faster than it was Su Ziyu.

—Time Acceleration.

Time rewinded to five seconds ago, just as Su Ziyu called out for Pasha to attract attention; he also took out a special injection and jabbed it into his arm.
