Chapter 95 - 12: Witch Hunter 4
CHAPTER 95: CHAPTER 12: WITCH HUNTER 4
Su Ziyu’s figure moved swiftly under the night sky.
In the distance came the sound of explosions and the screams of humans at the brink of death, indicating that Van Helsing’s side seemed to have encountered the enemy.
In front of Su Ziyu were over a dozen witch hunters scattered around.
These witch hunters were very skilled in small-scale combat, advancing in units of five, each equipped with a hand crossbow. The witch hunters had their physique, strength, and reaction speed enhanced by magic potions, allowing them to move quickly with excellent endurance. Once they determined the general location of the female warlock, they rapidly dispersed and surrounded her.
By the time Su Ziyu arrived, the cloaked female warlock was already in a very dangerous situation!
She was trapped by about ten witch hunters on a small hillside, with crossbow bolts continuously shot at her hiding spot, and someone threw a type of bomb in her retreat direction. Although the bomb wasn’t very powerful, it dispersed a peculiar metallic powder upon explosion that seemed capable of interrupting the female warlock’s spell casting.
The female warlock Su Ziyu was supporting seemed proficient in some rather unusual spells.
She could create an invisible barrier that blocked crossbow bolts, but it would shatter quickly if hit by bolts made of anti-magic metal. She also summoned a flock of crows, and the ground appeared to have some writhing vines, but these were suppressed by weapons made of anti-magic metal as the witch hunters steadily closed in on her.
Bang.
These witch hunters appeared to be veterans. They threw some alchemy fire oil that quickly burned the animated vines after igniting the ground.
The ground trembled slightly.
One witch hunter nimbly flipped aside, and a second later, the ground at his position collapsed, revealing a row of spikes. They seemed familiar with the witch’s spells, able at least to predict the location of spell attacks and counter the things she summoned.
Shing!
A cold blade flashed through the darkness.
Silently, Su Ziyu approached a witch hunter, swiftly stabbing his heart, then immediately flicked his hand, sending a black short blade flying into another witch hunter’s forehead at the side.
Two enemies fell instantly with one move.
"Who?"
"There’s an enemy nearby! Be careful!" The witch hunters had sharp perceptions as they sensed a slight disturbance.
But they couldn’t see Su Ziyu.
In the darkness, only the faint sounds of plants rustling could be heard. Su Ziyu found that his power against humans was more terrifying than he imagined. Unlike those unkillable polluted monsters, as long as he hit the vital points like the heart or head, even these potion-enhanced witch hunters could be killed in one blow.
Shing.
Su Ziyu stretched out his hand, and the black short blade he threw immediately flew back to his grasp.
However, the witch hunters indeed reacted quickly. Despite not seeing Su Ziyu, they unhesitatingly took out the alchemy fire oil and started throwing it in the general area where he was.
Bang, bang, bang!
The exploding and burning alchemy fire oil caused some trouble for Su Ziyu, as the twisting flames revealed faint hints of his presence.
The next second.
Seven or eight crossbow bolts fired in Su Ziyu’s general direction, forcing him to swiftly dodge and relocate.
These witch hunters clearly had experience dealing with invisible foes.
But.
In the darkness, several more cold gleams flashed as Su Ziyu threw three flying knives, immediately lunging and chopping off a witch hunter’s head.
A headless body spurted blood and crashed to the ground.
The loss of so many people in such a short time made these witch hunters somewhat panicked. They blindly fired crossbow bolts into the darkness and threw alchemy fire oil at the slightest hint of movement. Yet they couldn’t quickly capture Su Ziyu’s location. If it were daytime, these sharp-reacting witch hunters might be able to estimate Su Ziyu’s whereabouts, but now they could only succumb to fear and fall one by one.
His spiritual power combined with Su Ziyu’s throwing skills dealt significant damage to the witch hunters!
There were few witch hunters left standing before him now; only three remained, two of which were the black-clad figures he’d seen that day.
The three formed a back-to-back defensive formation, making Su Ziyu feel a bit stuck on how to proceed.
More importantly.
These individuals seemed to possess strength comparable to Van Helsing’s. They managed to block Su Ziyu’s flying knives with their weapons based on sensation alone.
All three wore armor, and if Su Ziyu attempted a stealth attack, two more weapons would instantly strike toward him. Considering the enhanced physical abilities of the witch hunters, he’s unsure he could withstand such an assault.
Just then.
A rustle came from the hillside as the cloaked female warlock stumbled out with disheveled green hair, staring in shock at the battlefield. She had been momentarily dazed by the anti-magic bomb, almost suffering spell backlash, and was just regaining her breath. She felt a surge of regret and frustration, thinking she should’ve waited for Inid to return before taking action this time.
But she hadn’t expected that in her brief daze, she would hear one scream after another outside!
Demon Hunters.
Alice had mentioned that two powerful demon hunters would assist them in this operation.
But she never thought the demon hunters would be this formidable. One glance outside revealed a field of witch hunter corpses, with the battle lasting just two or three minutes.
Tap.
Su Ziyu removed his invisibility cloak, and his slender figure appeared before the three surviving witch hunters.
Their eyes filled with hatred.
"Demon Hunter!?" The three witch hunters clenched their teeth, brandishing weapons as they charged, flanking him from three directions. No matter which way Su Ziyu faced, his back would be open to the other two.
Even the strongest Demon Hunter couldn’t face three elite witch hunters simultaneously.
But just then.
Facing the oncoming three witch hunters, Su Ziyu raised his hand, revealing an unusual silver-white weapon.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
With the dull sound of gunfire, the three witch hunters fell, their faces unwilling, with bloody holes in their heads.
The battle was over.
Su Ziyu twirled his weapon skillfully before holstering it, turning to find the female warlock looking at him in shock, surrounded by a battlefield of witch hunter corpses.
