CHAPTER 233: CHAPTER 161: SNOW CLOTHING ISLAND
Julia stood on the deck, holding a translucent Ice Blade in her hand. Alka was unaware of the blade’s abilities. He had wielded it before, but the cold it emanated was so intense that even holding it was unbearable for him. Naturally, he hadn’t tried to infuse any Magic Power into it to test its effects.
"Julia, give it a try and see if this sword is powerful," Chadite couldn’t help but say from beside her. After all, its impressive appearance was plain to see.
Julia nodded. She gripped the blade tightly, and Magic Power began to flow from her body, down her arm, and into the translucent Ice Blade. As Magic Power was infused, a blue flash of light became clearly visible at the center of the translucent Ice Blade. Then, this light coalesced into a thin, thread-like line within the translucent center of the blade.
Gripping the Ice Blade, she thought for a moment, then faced the sea and swung.
With just that gentle swing, the Magic Power within the blade dispersed, forming a long, white stream of what looked like icy mist in the air. It was like a wave of intense Coldness. A path of solid ice quickly appeared on the sea, visibly extending forward in the wake of the Coldness. The freezing effect on the seawater continued to spread outwards. The spread slowed only when the frozen path reached a width of over half a meter, having extended for more than ten meters. That was likely the maximum range of the Coldness.
Seeing the effect of the swing, Alka had expected it to shoot out something like a magical Ice Blade. Instead, it emitted a wave of cold air that instantly froze the sea’s surface. This was quite different from what he’d imagined; actual flying Ice Blades would have been much cooler.
Julia raised the Ice Blade, examining it carefully against the sunlight. She could see the luminous thread inside wriggling. It seemed Julia was controlling her Magic Power, getting a feel for the blade’s general capabilities. The others watched from behind but did not disturb her.
Julia raised the blade again and swung it gently. Another long wave of Coldness shot out. But this time, the effect was different. The ice that formed on the sea was not a smooth path; instead, it thrust upwards continuously, forming one ice spire after another. These spires extended for about seven or eight meters. Although shorter than the previous attack’s reach, the destructive power was clearly much greater. Each ice spire was at least half a meter long and exceptionally sharp.
As if finally understanding how to use the weapon, Julia raised her free left hand. Magic Power also surged from her left hand, emitting a faint glow. Unknown Spell effects flickered as water began to flow from her palm. Then, the water suddenly shot out, forming a powerful jet. Her right hand immediately swung the Ice Blade, and a visible wave of Coldness spread out. This Coldness passed through the water jet, freezing it. One Ice Blade after another then shot through the air, crashing into the distant sea surface. The moment these Ice Blades hit the sea, they froze a large surrounding area of water, which then turned into an ice floe, floating on the frozen surface.
The size of these Ice Blades was equivalent to the width of the water stream the Coldness had passed through. The flow of water from Julia’s left hand then changed. With a gentle sweep forward, a barrier made of water appeared before her. She continuously swung the Ice Blade at the water barrier, sending out one Ice Blade after another. These Ice Blades were over two meters long. They appeared very thin but were remarkably resilient. They struck the recently formed ice floes, slicing through them smoothly before freezing the seawater below once more.
After this simple weapon test, Julia nodded in satisfaction.
Alka and the others watching from behind were stunned. The effects Julia had just demonstrated seemed to be advanced techniques for using the Ice Blade. However, Julia, perhaps due to her vast experience, had quickly figured out how to maximize the Ice Blade’s destructive power. She had also discovered its various unique effects. Furthermore, the series of maneuvers she had just performed required incredible precision.
Otherwise, the Coldness would have simply frozen the water jet solid instead of launching sharp Ice Blades. Alka reckoned that he himself couldn’t have achieved such results in such a short time if he were the one testing the sword. He’d probably need a day or two of practice to even come close to Julia’s level of skill with it.
Truly worthy of her former title as one of the Six Spirals. Her power was merely suppressed in the Holy Mother’s waters; her experience and abilities were still intact.
Just as Alka was thinking this, he suddenly sensed a peculiar fluctuation. He could clearly feel a wave emanating from Julia, spreading outward. A small vacuum of Magic Power appeared in a circle around Julia. Its sudden formation was noticed by everyone.
Sensing the fluctuation emanating from Julia, Alka looked at her and asked, "Your power... has it recovered to the Three Spirals realm?"
Julia also looked surprised. The recovery was rather abrupt, but she nodded. "Yes," she confirmed. "I’m not sure why it recovered so suddenly. I thought I’d need at least another week or two."
