CHAPTER 365: CHAPTER 205: GOLDEN LIGHT ON THE MAP

The deck of the Sound of Dawn was illuminated by dim lights.

In the sterncastle restaurant, however, the light was brighter, and the sound of conversation could be heard from inside. An equally enticing aroma wafted from there.

This dinner was all about replenishing Energy and restoring spirits.

After finishing the meal, Jason commenced the first half of the night patrol.

Because of tomorrow’s exploration, tonight’s shifts had been temporarily changed to a three-shift rotation to ensure everyone got enough rest.

Alka didn’t sleep either and went to Chadite’s map-drawing workshop. It was a small room on the third floor of the sterncastle, connected to Chadite’s own room and also accessible from the outside.

Alka sat on a nearby stool, gently chatting with Lucilia. Ling also sat next to them, swinging his legs and smiling at Alka.

Alka occasionally turned his head toward Chadite, blinking as he glanced at the progress of the map she was working on. Finally, on his third glance, a simple outline of the map had been drawn. With each blink of his eyes, a dazzling golden light appeared on it.

Whoa, golden light!

Alka couldn’t help but curse internally. His expression changed immediately, but he quickly composed himself, taking a couple of quick breaths.

"What’s wrong?" Lucilia, who was chatting idly beside him, noticed his somewhat excited expression and asked curiously.

"Oh, nothing," Alka said nonchalantly, having already composed his expression. "I just saw that the map’s outline seems to be finished."

Besides the golden light, Alka also saw three blue dots and two white dots on the map. Exactly six treasure points! They were all gathered at the center of the Island, where they had previously seen the two ships wrecked. Indeed, those two shipwrecks left behind quite a lot of Treasures.

Could everyone on those ships be dead? No, at least one is still alive. The question is, where is this survivor now? The fact that these treasure points still exist, including that one Treasure, means they haven’t been taken by anyone yet. What puzzled Alka was how that person had managed to survive. The time of the two shipwrecks could already be estimated; it was approximately ten years ago. A full ten years! That person never left, just stayed on this Island, and no edible food could be seen around. They couldn’t have survived solely on the supplies left on those two ships. After ten years, everything would have spoiled. Not to mention the fish in the surrounding sea, which are incredibly scarce. Relying on fish to survive would be a pipe dream. And they hadn’t found any signs of human activity earlier either.

Alka was already suspecting that the person might no longer be alive, or perhaps had become an undead who had preserved their soul and wisdom. This possibility was quite high. After all, even in a region with low Magic Power like the Homeland Sea, it wasn’t uncommon for souls to linger after death, unwilling to depart. Even in a cursed place like the Realm of Pitch Darkness, one could retain their former power and continue to exist, needing only a soul, not even a body. On this Island, in such a high-magic area, it was very possible for someone to become an undead after death, provided their willpower was strong enough to control their soul and consciousness. Moreover, they had made quite a bit of noise during their exploration of the Island today. If that person could move freely, it’s impossible they wouldn’t have heard it. And it was unlikely they wouldn’t have tried to make contact. Alka felt that the survivor’s condition might be quite unusual. They needed to be prepared for the possibility that this person was already dead.

However, having discovered that there was indeed a Treasure on this Island, Alka couldn’t hide the smile on his face. Composing himself, he chatted with Lucilia in good spirits, quietly waiting for Chadite to completely finish drawing the map.

There’s no need to rush and examine it eagerly. When it came to map-making, Alka was very respectful of Chadite. He wanted her to perfect the map to her own satisfaction before he would take it and use it.

A long time passed, and the bright moon was already hanging high outside.

Chadite finally stood up from her stool, stretching heartily.

"Hmm... it’s done. Take a look."

Hearing this, Alka eagerly stood up from his stool, strode over in a few quick steps, and took the map from the wooden stand. The map had already undergone protective treatment; the pigments on it were long dry, and a protective layer had been applied. Chadite had a quick method for processing them.

Looking at the map, the Island appeared just as they had seen it from the outside, resembling an irregular oval. The location of the two ships was in the center of the Island, slightly towards the upper part.

Alka blinked his eyes, and the first thing that appeared was that dazzling golden pillar of light. The golden light point was far more conspicuous than the blue and white ones.

Alka took the map to a nearby table and began examining it by himself. Chadite then took his place, chatting with Lucilia and Ling.

Now it was Alka’s work time; no one would disturb him.

He ran his hand over the map and tapped the golden light point.

First was the Difficulty. The term "Combat Squad" implied multiple adversaries. This indicated a relatively large number of enemies, which matched what they had observed during the day.
