Chapter 37 - 36: Why Not Kill Your Husband!
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 36: WHY NOT KILL YOUR HUSBAND!
The shadow fell, still wearing a guard’s uniform, and as he breathed his last, black aura escaped from between his eyebrows.
Yu Nianzhao caught it with one hand and tossed it to Jiu Ying to swallow.
Dongfang Chenyuan was stunned, "Dead? Did you kill him, Princess Consort?"
"Nonsense, if he doesn’t die, then it’s you who’ll be dead."
Yu Nianzhao pointed at his face, "This man mixed into the guards, stained with dozens of lives and possessed by ghosts, wielding a Fire Talisman to kill people, he deserved to die."
Too bad, the evil spirit possessed by the fierce ghost wasn’t qualified enough!
Couldn’t become another evil spirit!
"Princess Consort, you’re amazing. From now on, you’ll be one of the people I most admire!"
Dongfang Chenyuan threw himself at Yu Nianzhao’s feet, hugged her thigh, and sincerely said, "From now on, I’m Princess Consort’s henchman. If Princess Consort asks me to go east, I won’t go west. Princess Consort, you must cover me!"
Dongfang Chenyuan could adapt, previously backed by the Prince, now by the Princess Consort!
Awesome!
His life was complete.
Yu Nianzhao was quite dismissive, "Step aside, stop hugging me, you look nothing like a member of an influential family."
"Hehehe, I’m just an outcast of the Dongfang Family, my family is long accustomed to it."
Dongfang Chenyuan smiled as he got up from the ground, not feeling there’s anything wrong with his behavior.
Yu Nianzhao glanced at him, "It’s just your fate of being born under evil that pairs perfectly with your Prince, able to suppress his evil qi."
Dongfang Chenyuan scratched his head, "Indeed, nothing escapes the Princess Consort’s eyes."
"Handkerchief."
Yu Nianzhao reached out to him.
Dongfang Chenyuan obediently handed over his handkerchief.
Yu Nianzhao wiped the blood off her face and walked out from the alley, and sure enough, from the front of the gambling house, it showed no sign of fire.
The guards were clueless seeing them come out.
Dongfang Chenyuan kicked open the door, and the tongues of fire and thick smoke surged out instantly.
Bam!
The Shangyuan Gambling House was already mostly burned down, leaving the guards shocked and scrambling to fetch water to extinguish the fire.
"Yu?"
A familiar voice came from behind. Yu Nianzhao turned her head and saw Song Jiling.
Song Jiling glanced at the gambling house, burnt down to the shell, swallowed hard, and walked obediently to Yu Nianzhao, "Yu, what are you doing here? How did the Shangyuan Gambling House catch fire?"
Yu Nianzhao patted his shoulder, "Good thing you ran into me earlier, otherwise you’d be hanging here like those three."
Song Jiling was so scared his legs turned weak, nearly crying out, "I just went with those few people, I heard about their hanging and was terrified, I wanted to offer condolences, hearing Yu say this, should I not go? Will their ghosts haunt me?"
He subconsciously touched the exorcism talisman he carried, feeling uneasy.
"Condolences? Go, of course, you should go!"
Yu Nianzhao said, "I’ll accompany you to pay respects!"
Song Jiling was delighted, "Really?"
"Really, quickly lead the way!"
"Okay!"
With Yu Nianzhao and Dongfang Chenyuan accompanying him, Song Jiling relaxed.
They arrived at the entrance of Wei Mansion, claiming to pay respects, and servants led them inside. As soon as they saw a coffin, a woman’s shrill cries came from within.
"Zhao’er, my son, you’re still so young. Why couldn’t you think it through? Why do this? Do you want to rip your mother’s heart apart?"
"Wooo... Zhao’er!"
Yu Nianzhao’s oil-paper umbrella trembled violently, and she sighed lightly, "What’s the use of regret now? Being exploited till the end, it only brings pain to the dear and joy to the enemy."
"It’s Prince Su’s fault. If it weren’t for him raiding the Shangyuan Gambling House, Wei Zhao wouldn’t have had any incident. The enmity of killing one’s son is irreconcilable; even at the cost of my life, I will make Prince Su pay."
Mr. Wei, the Chief of Staff, had his eyes reddened, filled with intense hatred.
"Master, Dongfang from Prince Su Mansion and Mr. Song from Minister’s Mansion came to offer their respects." A servant spoke up timely.
Prince Su Mansion?
A barrage of hateful eyes glared over, Dongfang Chenyuan shivered, feeling as if he might be devoured by their gaze.
"Are you Dongfang Chenyuan?"
Mr. Wei glared fiercely at Dongfang Chenyuan, gritting his teeth, "Did Prince Su send you? You dare step into our Wei Mansion? Isn’t my loss of a son enough?"
Dongfang Chenyuan innocently raised his hand, "What’s my Prince got to do with your Wei’s death? Not like he forced him to gamble at Shangyuan. Mr. Wei should open his eyes to see who’s truly trapped him in this predicament!"
Ms Wei bitterly retorted, "My Zhao’er has always been disciplined, he’s not the kind addicted to gambling!"
"If you want to blame, blame those who set up the gambling house, why blame Prince Su? Really strange, if not knowing better, might think you’re deliberately framing Prince Su, wouldn’t you say, Mr. Wei?"
The icy voice rang out, Yu Nianzhao holding an oil-paper umbrella, slowly approached the coffin, within which lay Wei Zhao’s body, shrouded in black aura, half the bluish-purple tongue sticking out.
"And who are you?"
Mr. Wei coldly watched Yu Nianzhao, "What gives you the right to speak on this matter?"
Dongfang Chenyuan snorted coldly, "This is Princess Consort Su, granted by His Majesty, she’s more qualified than anyone!"
Song Jiling wasn’t pleased either, "Yu is very powerful, Mr. Wei, if you really want to find the behind-the-scenes culprit, you should listen to Yu."
"Princess Consort Su?"
Mr. Wei furrowed his brow as he sized up Yu Nianzhao. Though she was young, he was on alert but with more disdain, "Shangyuan Gambling House was legally operated, even if Zhao’er went there, it wasn’t for gambling. There are cultural gatherings besides gambling tables. Prince Su sealed the gambling house carelessly, isn’t that his fault?"
Ms Wei listened, sorrow overtaking her heart, she wailed, "My son, Mom must avenge you, even if I’m weak, I’ll crash in front of the Prince Mansion and demand justice for you."
Yu Nianzhao boldly remarked, "Truly want revenge? Good, then why not kill your husband first."
Ms Wei’s cries came to an abrupt halt, staring in shock at her, "What do you mean? Why kill my husband? Is Prince Su all-powerful? Destroy my son, now my husband too?"
Yu Nianzhao sneered coldly, "Mr. Wei’s acting truly is splendid, anyone unaware might think you sincerely cherished your son. But if you truly cared, why raise little ghosts on your son and order him to entice classmates to the gambling house?"
