True Solution of the Sword Dao
Chapter 136 - 136 130 Lin You 1
Chapter 136: Chapter 130 Lin You 1 Chapter 136: Chapter 130 Lin You 1 In the car, Feng Biao took the initiative to arrange the accommodations. The place was a hotel called the West Wind Hotel, which seemed very nice. Although it looked somewhat like a memorial hall from the outside…
“This hotel is owned by my family. Since Lin Fei has come, everyone please, make yourselves at home. Be it lodging or dining, I’ve got it all covered!” Feng Biao stood at the entrance, shouting towards the hotel, which drew the attention of passersby.
“Isn’t this inappropriate?” Jiang Nan tugged at Lin Fei’s clothes and whispered, “We should pay for ourselves.”
“It’s fine,” Lin Fei said with a smile. He knew very well that Feng Biao would be delighted if he really accepted his generosity, and he had no intention of refusing.
Hearing Lin Fei’s response, Jiang Nan didn’t have much else to say.
Shuang’er followed Lin Fei expressionlessly, her little hand never leaving his. Lin You held the black cat Jingjing and followed behind Lin Fei, occasionally lost in thought, unsure of what he was thinking.
The group followed Feng Biao into the hotel, the procession still quite eye-catching. Feng Biao seemed to have high prestige here; as soon as they got out of the car, a line of people in business suits came up to greet him respectfully. Feng Biao whispered a few instructions to them and then smiled, leading Lin Fei and the others inside.
“The rooms have already been arranged, all of them the best. Lin Fei, I hope you won’t dislike them.”
“How could I?” Lin Fei said with a smile. “Where’s Yang Ying? Why don’t I see her?”
“Her…” Feng Biao’s expression faltered, as if he had something to say but quickly stopped himself. “Let’s talk about it later,” he sighed.
Lin Fei nodded knowingly. He sensed there might be some trouble.
Feng Biao came closer to Lin Fei and whispered, “It’s related to Ning Xiaoyuan and the others. We’ll talk about it later.”
The latter nodded.
The group was accommodated on the hotel’s top floor, in the management area’s top-level rooms. Clean and tidy, everything shimmered with a silver gloss, filled with delicate and fine decorations and utensils. The spacious rooms were almost as large as a small basketball court, with a wall-mounted projection TV, ultra-soft sectional sofas, the floor covered with thick black carpet, and the air conditioning gently blowing warm air. Just stepping into the room, one could feel a warm breeze blowing across, mixed with a faint fragrance. Clearly, the rooms had also been perfumed.
“How about it? Are you satisfied?” Feng Biao asked somewhat nervously, not being sure of Lin Fei’s real preferences. He had no choice but to arrange it according to the highest standard, producing these several suites.
“It’s very good,” Lin Fei said, glancing at a corner of the room. There was a hallway there. He walked around the room, and deep down the hallway were the bathroom and a shower room, two small rooms.
Lin You and the others were not there, having been separately accommodated in other rooms. According to Lin Fei’s estimation, such a large suite could accommodate two to three people. They would probably split into two groups to stay.
“Shuang’er~~~” Lin You appeared at the doorway, smiling and addressing Shuang’er who was standing in the middle of the suite. “Going to sleep with your sister?”
“No. I hate you,” Shuang’er turned her head and looked at him, not hesitating a bit.
Lin You’s mouth twitched. Being mercilessly snubbed by a child was indeed the most disheartening outcome.
“Then how will you sleep? With sister Jiang Nan?”
“No,” Shuang’er looked at Lin You as if he were an idiot. “Shuang’er naturally will sleep with big brother.”
“Uh…” Lin You was completely at a loss for words.
Feng Biao stood to one side, smiling as he watched the two. Behind him, a waiter was holding a tray with several sets of keys on it. Feng Biao picked up a set of keys and handed them over.
“You’re Lin You, right? Since you’re Lin Fei’s sister, that makes you my sister too! Here, this is the key to your room. If you lose it, you can ask for another one at the service desk below.”
“Thank you, Brother Feng,” Lin You politely thanked him, accepting the key. Although it was entirely for the sake of Lin Fei, basic courtesy was essential.
“Alright, go and settle in first, and later I’ll take you guys out for a meal. Now that we’re in Coastal City, this is my turf, and I’ll arrange everything,” Feng Biao said with a smile.
“Okay.”
Watching Lin You slowly walk away, Feng Biao picked up a remaining set of keys from the tray, whispered a few words to the waiter, and sent the waiter away. He then entered the room and closed the door behind him.
Lin Fei was already sitting on the sofa, her eyes slightly closed, seemingly meditating. Shuang’er walked over and sat down beside Lin Fei, leaning into her embrace.
“Tell me, what happened?” Lin Fei asked blandly. As a former mission partner of Feng Biao, she didn’t mind pulling some strings. After all, having mission teammates as a bond made it easier to collaborate afterward. Besides, Coastal City and Heping City were far apart, and without conflicting interests, cooperation was naturally more likely.
Feng Biao frowned slightly, glancing at Shuang’er who had leaned into Lin Fei’s embrace.
“Is it alright?”
“It’s fine,” Lin Fei murmured. “Didn’t Ning Xiaoyuan leave with Xu Shiyuan?” His memory was getting better, so a brief recall brought back those past events. Ning Xiaoyuan was the boy who looked like a feminized man and fell for Xu Wei’s daughter, Xu Shiyuan during a mission. Although he hadn’t undertaken any missions with them since, those basic introductions were still stored in Lin Fei’s brain.
Since Lin Fei said it was not a concern, Feng Biao didn’t dwell further. He simply said, “Afterwards, Ning Xiaoyuan and Xu Shiyuan have been hanging around with me. But recently, things have gotten a bit messy because of Yang Ying.”
“What kind of trouble?” Lin Fei was slightly curious. Ning Xiaoyuan was about an F-level, and Yang Ying wasn’t far off, and both had genuinely fought their way through battlefields in South Korea, where occasional gunfire posed no threat to them. If even someone stronger like Feng Biao was helpless, it could only be due to a higher power.
Indeed, Feng Biao’s expression grew grave.
“You know the rules of our society, Lin Fei. We have to complete one mission each year.”
Lin Fei nodded, signaling him to continue.
“Originally, it was always Ning Xiaoyuan who helped complete our missions. However, this year an incident occurred while he was doing a task for Yang Ying. A recent disturbance in this region caused chaos, resulting in the death of the former branch president under suspicious circumstances. It wasn’t until two top-level experts were dispatched from above that we managed to resolve the situation here. I suppose you’ve heard about it?”
“Yes, indeed I have,” Lin Fei recalled. Initially, those two experts who were supposed to support her had their arrival delayed because they had to make a trip to Coastal, presumably due to this matter.
“After that, another branch president came, directly transferred here. You might have heard his name, Xu Chang.”
“Xu Chang?” Lin Fei was taken aback. “Xu Chang, Gao Ge. These two seem to be related, right?”
Feng Biao smiled ruefully, “Indeed, there seems to be some connection, but not a very close one.” He paused, then walked to the French window and sighed.
“Both Lord Gao Ge and Lord Xu Chang are far superior to us in strength. I’m not sure about the extent of the strength gap, but unlike Lord Gao Ge, who is indifferent to everything, Lord Xu Chang possesses profound personal tolerance. It was during this particular incident involving Ning Xiaoyuan that things got inadvertently exposed. We’ve only been here a short while, and thanks to some help from local brethren, we were able to expand our influence quickly. Ning Xiaoyuan taking over our routine missions was precisely the excuse Xu Chang needed to intervene. Right now, we are as proverbial as the ‘chicken used to scare the monkeys,’ trapped between local forces and Branch President Xu Chang, making it quite difficult.”
“These issues, telling me about them is pointless. I don’t know Xu Chang, and this is not my territory,” Lin Fei said with a smile.
“Lin Fei, no! Rather, I should address you as President Lin Fei. Since you returned from the mission, I have been paying close attention to you. I knew you were not one to idly sit by. So even though there’s a prohibition now, I was well aware of your situation beforehand. If you could help us resolve our current crisis, our sect is willing to follow your lead,” Feng Biao stated earnestly. It seemed his situation was gravely serious, hence the heavy gamble.
“Sect?” Lin Fei inquired, puzzled.
“My Liu Kong Sect is a major sect in the Coastal areas, my master Du Shengyan currently holds the position of this generation’s sect master. However, the problem now is that Branch President Xu Chang is steadfast in making an example out of us; attempts to mediate the situation have been futile so far.”
