CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 57: SEEING YOU AND ZHANG DONG HUG TOGETHER (PART 2)
Song Qin sighed, "You’re relied on for everything, you must be so tired."
"Granny, Uncle is the one who’s tired; I’m not tired." Lin Qiao held her hand as they went into the main room, picked up an empty basket, and went out.
...
The school had a break for a short period after half an hour, allowing the children to use the restroom.
"Tingfan, let’s go pee!" Zhou Tiedan put his arm around Song Tingfan’s shoulders, mimicking a ’pee’ gesture.
Song Tingfan carefully packed his brush and ink and carried it on his back, "Okay."
"Tingfan, why are you carrying it? It’s not going to disappear." Zhou Tiedan curiously pointed at his bag.
Song Tingfan glanced down, touched it gently, and did not respond.
His sister-in-law had a hard time buying him the brush and ink; he must take good care of them.
At this moment, another group of children came over, "Tiedan, wild child, wait for us."
Hearing ’wild child,’ Wang Tiedan angrily shouted, "Gouzi, if you shout ’wild child’ again, I’ll tell the teacher you’re cursing."
"How am I cursing? He really doesn’t have a dad or a mom, he’s a wild child." Gouzi said confidently.
Song Tingfan pressed his lips together, not wanting to cause trouble at school, and continued walking.
When he ignored them, the children behind him became unhappy, and Gouzi continued, "What’s a wild child without a dad or mom so arrogant for, huh, if it weren’t for your sister-in-law seducing the teacher, you’d still be playing with mud in the fields."
The children were used to hearing adults gossip, and eventually they believed it to be true.
Though he initially didn’t want to pay attention to them, Song Tingfan stopped and turned to them, saying fiercely, "You’re talking nonsense! My sister-in-law didn’t do that."
"Of course she did. If it weren’t for your sister-in-law, how could you have attended school, huh? Your sister-in-law is a seductress." At thirteen, the kids didn’t really understand what a seductress was, just repeating what the adults said.
Normally quiet and patient, Song Tingfan suddenly raised his fist and roared, "My sister-in-law is not."
Gouzi, usually the leader among the children, was taken aback and then lunged at him, "Your sister-in-law is a seductress."
Song Tingfan, normally well-behaved, was the child of a hunter, naturally stronger than kids like Gouzi who were raised in comfort.
He grabbed him with a backhand, easily pushing him to the ground, "My sister-in-law is not."
"Say anything about my sister-in-law again, and I’ll hit you!"
Gouzi, scared, started crying immediately. Mr. Cheng heard the commotion and came out of the school, seeing Song Tingfan, with his neck stiff and an angry expression. He immediately guessed that he was being bullied again.
"What’s going on?"
"Teacher, Song Tingfan hit me!" Gouzi cried out.
Zhou Tiedan helped explain on behalf of Song Tingfan, "That’s not true; you hit Tingfan first and called his sister-in-law a seductress."
"I’m going to tell my mom, boohoohoo..." Gouzi threw a tantrum and rolled on the ground.
Mr. Cheng frowned slightly, "Get up and speak."
But ten-year-old kids wouldn’t listen, focused only on how they’d been wronged.
Mr. Cheng pursed his lips and had no choice but to send the two kids to call their families.
Zhou Tiedan went to call Lin Qiao, but she wasn’t home, so Song Qin and Song Rong locked up and hurried out when they heard.
When Lin Qiao returned and saw the courtyard gate locked, she didn’t have the key. Seeing Old Mrs. Wang from next door coming out to pour water, "Granny Wang, did you see where my grandpa and grandma went?"
"Tiedan came by just now, and they went out in a hurry." Old Mrs. Wang shook her head.
It was supposed to be study time; if Tiedan came to call, something must have happened to Song Tingfan. She left her things at the Wang’s place, "Granny, keep it for me for a while." And she rushed off.
...
Before she reached the school, Lin Qiao could already hear a woman’s angry scolding, "Something born but not raised, look at what you’ve done to my child, Gouzi."
Sometimes she thought the male lead’s dark transformation really had a reason; even though he’d done nothing wrong, people held such malice against him.
He was an orphan who lost his parents.
As she approached, she saw the woman reaching out to hit Song Tingfan, with Song Rong and Song Qin anxiously blocking her.
She stepped forward and grabbed the woman’s wrist, "Auntie wants to hit someone? No matter what, you should wait until I ask first; if there’s a mistake, it’s up to me, his sister-in-law, to discipline him."
"It’s not about who yells the loudest being right."
"Moreover, my uncle is supported by me, his sister-in-law, not the ’born but not raised’ you said."
She let out a chilling laugh, "I think your family is more like ’born and raised without teaching.’" With that, she flicked away the woman’s hand.
This was Lin Qiao’s true temperament, without a hint of pretense.
Shooting back without giving any face.
Her angry appearance was quite fierce, and for a moment the atmosphere went silent, everyone staring at her as if they were dumbfounded.
Song Tingfan’s tense body relaxed the moment he saw his sister-in-law arrive, his eyes turning slightly red.
