Twin Reincarnation: Epics Of The Worldline
Chapter 383 Second cycle
CHAPTER 383: 383 SECOND CYCLE
[OP: ]
In the first solar cycle, the two forces on the battlefield had gathered before one another on the opposite sides.
The battlefield, vast and barren with no trace of natural life, was soon going to be covered in the breath of the destruction.
The two forces were going to show their might and in the name of their lords, the normal humans that had no real connection to this conflict were going to sacrifice themselves willingly... something the prince’s side did not wish for.
{ "All ground forces." }
The organisation of the forces was still pending so the initiation of the battle was still one cycle away.
The battle would start with the two commanders of the forces blowing the horns of the initiation of the battle.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
It was a fine morning, and both the forces were ready already.
On one side was the followers of the absolute emperor.
{ "Initiate March 1st." }
-Oooooooooooong!
While on the other side were the forces of the thieves that had alredy become the headache of the entire empire.
The thieves that were so powerful that there were hundreds of high ranking undead in their army, hundreds of golems that unlike the normal golem did not possess any core and there were creatures on thier side that even the emperor had never seen.
He was the most powerful and rich person on this planet but there was not much that he knew about the grand Worldline that they lived in.
There were in fact very small number of individuals out there that knew about this Worldline as much as the two controlling the forces of these thieves and they knew enough to overwhelm even the emperor standing on his grand drake on the other side,
"My lord... they seem to be up to something."
The horns of the battle had not been blown yet so it was strange that the undead forces were alredy moving.
What was even more strange, was the fact that the mages of these undead forces and the liches covered in that dark clothing, along with the grand ghost of the fortress were all moving in closer all on their own.
"Tell the front guards to be ready for any unexpected assault."
"Yes my lord."
The sword saint was someone that the emperor had raised with his own hands.
He was an orphan from the far northern part of the empire that was abandoned by the orphanage.
He did not take even a moment to recoganise his talents and since he did not do anything to his parents, it was just fate that the two of them met in that way.
He raised him to be someone that he can trust his back with.
And he had fulfilled his role until this point, becomeing someone that the emperor could rely on even in the moments of extremes.
"Wait."
Sending him away at a crucial point like this was no good idea so he was doubtful weather to actually send him off to the front lines or not, however, as soon as he saw the commander of the opposite army, the white masked individual wearing black clothing glaring back right in their direction, he knew it wasn’t the right choice to send him anywhere.
"Look."
Additionally, as the emperor and the sword saint looked, they saw the opposing army stopping at a certain point that wasn’t even the middle do their battlefield.
It was still within their own area, and this new development confused the solders who had prepared themseves for an early assault.
"They are up to something foolish."
As the emperor and the rest of his forces looked, the opposing side started doing something that was completely unexpected to them.
-Oooooooooooooooong!
Starting with the biggest opponent of their army, the great ghost of the enemy forces, summoned a divine looking sword that should not have belonged to an undead being that wasn’t even a part of this mortal world.
Then, right after him, the liches of their army started chanting traced overlapping incantations that were humanely impossible to recite.
"Multi-traced chanting..."
The emperor recognised this lost magic chanting method as something that used to belong to the ancient empire that existed before most of the empires of this world were founded.
"..."
He had already suspected that these forces, these skeletons, that island, and that ghost knight all belonged to that once forgotten civilization.
He had predicted that there will come a time when he will have to face forces of that time, forces belonging to that great person who succeeded in completely obtaining this world.
"The successors..."
He doubted it before, but he knew for certain now.
The opposite force that he was going to fight now were all something that belonged to the very first conqueror of this world and their descendants.
This island that floated in the sky in particular belonged to someone directly related to that person.
And, this knight that he was seeing right now was one of the strongest that existed in that ancient era.
He alredy knew about the grand Magi that used to exist in that fortress. He knew about tye person who turned that fortress into an artificial dungeon at the cost of his entire being.
He was alredy aware of the kind of power those people that kind and that time’s individuals possessed, and he was now also aware that the ones that he was facing at the moment were somehow able to obtain everything that those people, that ancient civilization had left behind in this world.
"Things will be more difficult than we had thought."
As the two of them watched, the other side displayed their powers.
The liches showed the kind of dark and grand magic that they could summon with the ancient knowledge that they possessed.
They showed how their undead knights could all use the power of Aura and the death energy.
They showed how they possessed weapons of old times... as well as the weapons that the emperor had got to know about from the higher beings that he was in contact with.
He knew that the other side also possessed as much or perhaps even more knowledge about the Worldline than he did.
Which, ultimately made everything that he had at the moment seem like nothing but a child’s toy army.
"Guard the back."
The emperor clenched the reins of the grand Drake, a creature that was considered one of the fiercest beings of this planet, and started going towards the place that display of power was happening at the moment.
"My lord?!"
But the sword saint got in front of him without blocking his path.
"This is an order. Do not move until I give my command. Rely that to everyone else."
The commander of the force moving to the front was something very, very dangerous.
Even if he was the supreme emperor that was the strongest of this continent, he was not someone that should go at the front of the army so soon.
The other side was showing off what they had in an attempt to demoralise their army and he knew that it was working.
Even his own unwavering heart was shaking as he looked at the absurdity that was playing before their eyes.
The enemies... they were more dangerous than what they had expected.
But that was still not something that the emperor had to concern himself with from so early.
Strength was not everything.
There were more people on their side and there were many elites that could take on many of those undead all at once.
If they could just do well and hold their ground, a prolonged battle will become something that might just result in their victory.
They had the emperor on their side.
His mere presence on this battlefield gave their side a great advantage while on the other side, it reduced a great deal of strength of the opposing side.
And that was just his passive authority granted to him by the divine voice.
As soon as the battle had begun, they would have been in a much greater advantage than what met to one’s eyes.
There was no need for him to concern himself with this useless show off. Even if the solders and knights are demoralised a little, his brave aura would bring them back to their senses and give them strength to fight for what they believed in.
"I’ll be back in a moment."
What the opponents were showing them was more than just a display of their strength.
Their main goal was to demoralise the smaller solders, certainly, but that wasn’t all they were aiming for.
He could tell what that masked person was up to just from how that commander of theirs had positioned all their troops, from how he was standing as the tip of a pulled arrow on a bow.
They had enough power to deal with these weak troops in an instant. If his knowledge of that floating island was right, just one attack from its main cannon was enough to destroy not just their army, but also everything that existed in this vast plain, including the plain itself.
Yet... despite all that power, why were they not dealing with them?
Because they valued human lives?
The thieves that didn’t fear earning the anger of the entire world and crippled hundreds of innocent, strong people in the process were worried about the dumb soldiers that had given their souls to someone like him?
No.
That was not the case here.
They were no different than him. They did not care about what was happening with someone else.
All they wanted was the fulfilment of their own goals.
And for that, they would go to any lengths. Just like he would...
’They are the same as I am.’ The emperor knew at this moment...
The opponent that he was facing right now, unlike what he had thought initially, were in fact the same as him.
Greedy.
Ruthless.
Inhuman...
