CHAPTER 399: FALL OF THE ABSOLUTE

[OP: ]

How would one feel if a population of hundreds of millions wanted them dead even after they had done a better job at providing them with better things than most other rulers would have?

How would one feel when even after doing everything they could, they could not win a fight against some people who had not even been around in this world as much as he had?

How much rage would you have after being mocked for what you have done with all the belief and trust in your heart?

The emperor who was feeling all these complex emotions for the first time in his life was certainly not in a good state.

[{( Aughhhhh! )}]

He had used all the strength left in him to fight against the fragment of corruption and now that he knew the divinity had no effect on his opponent, he was even burning his own lifeforce– his existential energy to fuel the attacks that he was using against a the one who now carried the will of all those hundreds and thousands and millions of people who wanted him dead.

He was fighting against someone who he had no chance to win since the beginning.

He had already realised that he was foolish to even think this person, this young mastermind of this entire show, had not considered all the possibilities of what was happening.

He knew that what he had done was not wrong. All that he had done until now was all done in order to preserve what was rightfully his.

He was the emperor and he was the ruler of this nation, the master of the throne of this state. There was nothing wrong with using his people, his belongings for the things that would ultimately help the sustenance and maintenance of this empire.

He had done countless things just so the people of his country continue believing in his abilities as the emperor.

He had spent countless hours making sure everything worked properly and there was no thrones in his path.

He was a careful person so he made children that would keep up their public image, take on various tasks and if they were talented enough, they could also handle a few mundane things related to the empire.

They were going to die before him anyway. He was going to be the master of that throne forever...

That was how it should have been.

Things were good when these thieves weren’t around. Things were peaceful and there was nothing he had worried about in this world.

His people were happy as well... but then they showed up, and then they turned his own people against him.

They somehow broadcasted all the bad things he had done to maintain his potion to hundreds of millions of people across the worldline and now, all those beings wanted his death.

-Ooooooooooong!

[{( No! Keep that thing away! )}]

They wished for his death, and with some tricks that he played, he was borrowing a portion of the strength these hundreds of millions of people possessed.

-Click.

"It is already too late."

[ *As the white sword of the swordmaster cut through the astral body of the emperor who was on the verge of ascending, the astral body lost a portion of its powers.* ]

They all wanted him dead and they had chosen him for the one to execute this task on their behalf and now, they must be sitting back and just watching him being miserable.

He was strong previously and he was now stronger than ever. He possessed the strongest divine power any mortal on this planet might ever be capable of wielding.

There was no one else better than him in this world... At least, there was no one until a few years ago.

But then these two appeared out of nowhere, and as if to have known all about him, as if to have known all about the future and what could possibly happen, they ruined everything.

They even turned a great child he had against him, and now, he was forever going to resent him like the rest of the population of this world.

He was strong, and he was going to become the god that would look down on all these mortals for near eternity.

He defeated the very fragment of corrupt power as well, something not even his bastard enemy could have ever been able to do.

He was the best, and yet... against the simple slashes of that white energy, he could not help but shiver instinctively.

He was avoiding them as much as he could but the one who was using them was a swordmaster who knew how to use swords better than most sword users of this worldline.

He did not give him any chance to hide, any chance to dodge, or even any chance to take a break.

-Click.

-Swish.

[{( Aughhhhhhhhh! )}]

He screamed continuously.

[ *The supreme monarch of the west was afraid.* ]

-Click.

Lucy moved with his movement skill and used various kinds of sword slashes, not using any skills or technique in the process.

He was merely swinging his sword and the rest was left up to the power of all these combined wills that he wielded.

With all the people that wanted him dead, the level of strength that he had achieved was almost close to the strength that he had received after using that strange ability of their crown skill.

It was not a kind of strength that was sudden or was abnormal so there was no chance of [Ego darkening]. Still, he wanted to be careful.

He was not using anything other than this power not because he could not do it. But because he was worried something even more unexpected might happen because of the stage of the power that he was using.

[ *The emperor had always been afraid, of death.* ]

The kind of power that he had right now was enough to completely destroy every bit of the emperor’s existence, but, he could not end things just like that.

-Click.

[{( Aghhhhhhhhh! )}]

He hurt all those people, he killed all those innocent people, there were so many people that he killed just because he wanted to and there were so many people that died by his hands for no reason at all.

He killed the parents of talented kids so that they could not interfere with the growth of their children even in the future.

He eliminated all threats with his own hands, but that was not the worst. He even made his subordinates kill the people that were close to them just to prove their loyalty... and when they could not do it, he brainwashed them ’again’ and made them repeat the entire process.

Not only was he crazy with his addiction to that fake power and that useless authority that he possessed in this world, on this planet.

He was a kind of demon that not only wore human skin, he disrespected all humans by doing things that even the demons would feel disgust towards.

-Click!

[{( AGHHHHHHHHH! STOP! STOP THIS! )}]

He did not deserve to live, he did not deserve a higher reality, and he did not deserve death either.

[ *He had been scared of a miserable death ever since he witnessed the truth of mortal lives. The eternal flow of great time just made him an even more miserable child suppressing all his fears.* ]

What this thing before him deserved was simply... a miserable, painful end that he feared the most.

-Click.

[{( AUGHHHHHHHHH! )}]

-Click.

[{( AGHHHHHHH! )}]

He continued cutting away at the astral body with his small cuts. He made sure the cuts were only deep enough that he would feel a strong stinging pain, and not something too light or something too deep.

He had to keep him alive and awake... everyone was watching his stream. And, the rest of the world was listening to his epic.

[ *His twisted beliefs made him the monster he was at this moment.* ]

He was the executioner and he was the torturer.

-Click.

[{( AGHHHHHHHHH! )}]

And in this moment, in the eyes of the miserable emperor, he had also personified death.

-Click.

[{( STOP! PLEASE STOP...! )}]

He screamed and he begged, yet no one listened to any of his pleas.

On this battlefield that he himself had conquered at one point, there were only two individuals left.

[ *One led a life of hardships while the other led a life of difficult moral choices. One ended up as the absolute emperor while the other ended up becoming a general that led the people that trusted him... people that he had taught and raised with his own efforts.* ]

Now fallen to the ground covered in wounds on every corner of its existence, the emperor– or what was left of his existence- was begging to the very individual he had been resenting all this time.

[{( Spare me... )}]

"Countless others might have said the same thing to you."

With no positive emotions left for this thing shaking on the ground before him, he raised his white sword for the last time.

"You should have spared them instead of feeling relieved at their dying moments."

But had he done that, he would not have been the monster he was right now.

"Disappear in the dark seas of Nihility."

He slashed down his sword for the last time.

-Click.

And put it back in its sheath.

[ *The absolute met his end by the white sword’s final slash, looking miserable, all his dignity stripped off of him, laying on the ground with nothing to his name– not even a physical body.* ]

The battle for the throne and the first solo epic of the swordmaster of white sword came to an end at this point.

[ *As time goes on, the world will forget about the tyrant who ruled the western continent, the empire that he had built, and every trace of him will be removed from the face of this earth.* ]

"Huuuu."

[ *Everything he had ever built will disappear into the ocean of forgotten memories. And with the perpetual flow of time, something new, hopefully something better will take its place.* ]

"Then, shall we go Ana?"

[{ Yes, master. }]

[ *The world was rid of a plagued presence now... however, the journey of the swordmaster that wrote his first epic, or his great companions had not come to a halt just yet.* ]

[ "Is it finally over? Can we finally go and cuddle now?" ]

[ "Haha, sure. We can do that." ]

Many more challenges were still left.

This was not the end.

As both of them knew, now that the emperor did not exist in this world... things were going to become real hectic real soon.

However...

[ *The heroes deserved some rest after a long, hectic battle. Thankfully, they were going to receive it this time.* ]

Who knows when they will get to have more rest after this...?

Now that the emperor has died, things will soon become troublesome.

... --- --- -.

They knew all this as well.

And that was the main reason they deserved some rest even more.
