CHAPTER 400: WHAT IS LEFT BEHIND...

[Lucy’s POV: ]

After the battle with the emperor had come to a conclusion, and the epic was concluded, a few important things were left behind on the battlefield on which this whole battle was fought.

"I, Morexis Von Jivan Kadeloth Paras De Barnacle, solemnly swear on the divine name of the Barnacle."

The battlefield that was firstly corrupted with not just divine energy but also the corrupt energy and the demonic energy, had become a breeding ground for the spectral creatures of darkness.

There had been many deaths on that land, so the energies that had a negative disposition was now taking forms of the dead and the dead creatures and were growing rapidly.

Things were not limited to that either since with the death of many undeads, the forms most of these creatures were taking was that of undead and ghosts, polluting the natural lands even further.

’The battlefield that was left behind after the battle with the emperor was even worse.’

Divine power was not something that should naturally exist in this physical world.

One of the reasons only a few select beings possessed it and rarely ever used it on a large scale was because of this particular energy’s powerful dominating nature.

’When it was left behind on a battlefield filled with such different kinds of negative and evil energies, it started acting up.’

By its natural disposition, it started rejecting and fighting the negative energies because of which, the rest of the ground that was still safe for us, became a completely new battlefield where we, as physical beings, stood no chance.

’This wasn’t the emergence of some new kind of villain but the emergence of a natural phenomenon that could not be avoided.’

It was simply nature’s way of curing itself.

And the rest of us could do nothing but watch as the skies as well as the ground were all engulfed by a new disaster by the fight of all these energies.

’We had thankfully moved away in a timely manner and with the help of Anna and El’s combined efforts, we were able to seal off the area that was now experiencing this phenomenon.’

That place was currently the most dangerous place on this planet and as we all knew, there were enough forces on this planet and above us who wanted the complete destruction of us and this world that had almost given birth to a new Baron.

"I will faithfully execute my duties as the 102nd holder of divine authority, and will to the best of my abilities, advance, protect and defend the state my predecessors have built with their honourable efforts and, cynical yet admirable actions."

The stream was a success, the spectators who witnessed the thrilling story were all surprised and happy as well.

The overall reaction from the spectating higher beings was positive as well. There weren’t any great problems since there were a little too many spectators present, many of them being some higher ups in the main forces of the worldline.

Most of the spectators who possessed the highest levels of authority were supporting us for some reason so there wasn’t any deep backlash.

Things were weird, but for the time being, we put them aside and dealt with what was still left.

’Death of the emperor was an outcome the rest of the world was looking forward to.’

All the forces that initially gathered to spectate our battle but then lost connection after the three divine messengers arrived here, were aware of the battle and the outcome of the fights thanks to the epic that they listened to.

All those forces who had always looked forward to the fall of the emperor were now aware of the presence of a force that was strong enough to take down even the emperor that they had failed to deal with for all these years.

They knew the level of forces that we had now, and in addition to that, they also knew about the powers of the fortress.

Most of them weren’t going to mess with me since it wasn’t logical in any way.

But still, there were obviously bastards that attacked the empire when this war had just ended with thoughts of reclaiming the places that once belonged to them.

’We had expected most of the invasions so we were already prepared for their attack.’

They weren’t a force as strong as the emperor. Their forces also did not include many strong people since most of them were only dumb people who thought they stood any chance against us even in the state we were in.

The fight against the emperor had certainly exhausted most of our resources and many of our people from the fool’s gambit were exhausted, but that most certainly did not mean that we had weakened.

Just the Queen and King of Clubs were enough to take care of two of the largest forces while most of the other members took care of most of the fronts on their own.

I did not have to help them in the process either, and now that the battle was over, the rest of the forces who we had already talked with before the battle, expressed their support to us openly, shaking the forces who were still watching the situation.

’Of the four continents, one had lost its main pillar.’

But, that did not mean the west was any weaker than when the emperor was present.

If anything, the empire was stronger than ever now.

’We will have to give some land back for political reasons, this battlefield will take a few weeks to get back to its normal state so we will have to constantly guard it from the wicked forces, and there are still some difficulties left that we would have to take care of on our own...

"The previous emperor... my father, was not a good person. And I hate him as much as the rest of you.

But now, he is gone."

The seat of the empire now had a new master.

The heavens had chosen the successor of the emperor who had ruled over this land for many centuries, many millennials.

’If we say the empire is one of the oldest states that have been around since the dawn of civilization, the emperor has been around since the known history of this world.’

Not many people realise it, but he had maintained this empire for at least three millennia.

He was around for more than three thousand years and in his time as the emperor, he had done various things which made him one of the important aspects of this world.

He not only had his name in the history, he Made that history himself.

Over these three thousand years, he had completely reformed this world with the help of his privileges, and the costly wish tickets that could grant any wish as long as the plausibility was not impacted severely.

’And he did that more than once.’

What he changed was not known to the public or us and the kind of impact his actions had made would only be known through the [World records], something we weren’t going to get our hands on anytime soon.

So...

"We all have suffered because of that person... but now that he is not around, we can change what he never wanted to change."

After the emperor’s death, the crown prince of the empire and the one who had actually challenged the emperor for the right to throne was now the new emperor.

The thieves who had incurred the wrath of the rest of the world were now his subordinates, and though the white sword general who had fought the emperor was nowhere to be seen, they knew he stood behind him as well.

’Of the previous pillars of the empire, of the six fingers of the emperor, three had sworn their loyalty to the new master of the empire.’

After learning about the emperor, they resented him and came to know just how wrong their actions had been.

’They associated the one who killed their parents, took away their families.’

Once they were free of the emperor’s domination, they had regained their human minds.

They weren’t brainwashed machines anymore and regretted most of the things they had done and to atone for their sins, they chose the path of service rather than a simple death.

’The sword saint, the Mage of light, and the Divine archer were fortunate ones who reimagined their human selves thanks to their superior mental strengths that had somehow fought back against their existence and actions all their lives.’

But the rest of the three were not that lucky and ended up losing their minds in the process– ultimately leading to their unfortunate demise.

They harboured no resentment towards the crown prince- now the emperor- since he had only done what was right for this world and for the people.

Surely he might have been driven by his personal hate for the emperor, but he was not the one behind the death of the emperor.

He was just a pawn.

’We were the real culprits behind everything that happened.’

And, since they now knew the kind of difference we had between us, they were not going to act up in any way.

They could not do anything anyway since they had sworn an oath of origin to be the new aids of the young emperor. And even if they do someday act up, there are now people around the crown prince who will take care of the things in this empire.

"Let us all start anew! Let us walk towards a new light, a new tomorrow, towards a new world filled with more freedom, better air to breath, and build a new place where the younger children will be free of the hateful restrictions of that distasteful person!"

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

The empire did not yet know how to function without the presence of the emperor so we will have to teach them everything from the ground up.

’This empire now belonged to us.’

Bringing all the new changes will be difficult but, thankfully, with the [Fool’s gambit] beside us, we will breeze through the tough times...

’My two groups will finally have the stage to show their abilities.’
