CHAPTER 406: 406 VANRAYA

[OP: ]

The Vanraya, nation of elves.

Situated deep within the great forest of Lark, the nation was built on top of a single great tree that was so big that it covered an area even greater and larger than many small forests.

This single area was something so vast that it made up ten percent of the entire great forest, making the entire area a unique ecosystem that was a self-sustaining life unit.

The great tree was an ancient life form that had been present here for a great time, probably even before the establishment of the empire.

The forest itself was an entity that was present since the ancient times when humans weren’t even the central species ruling the world.

The elves, the creatures of nature, had been around far longer than the humans, and they lived within nature since the day their progenitors appeared in this world.

There was a kind of culture that was pretty different from the human societies in this society.

The elves, the beings closer to nature than most of the other belongs, were a special kind of existence even in this world.

And the kingdom that houses these great beings had since the ancient times been ruled by the rare high elves that appear seldom among their kind.

"How’s she doing, Light?"

"She says she’s fine, but... I don’t know either. I should go to the empire and see for myself."

The current royal family of the kingdom was established by the former queen of the elves and the great lady that brought various changes to this world– the last high elf of the previous generation, the queen who gave the throne to her much more capable son even though he was not a high elf.

She changed the traditions that had been followed by their kind for several generations, and that brought great changes to their kingdom.

In the last few centuries, the closed off elven kingdom had opened up to the outside world and had done trades, made connections, and had opened a completely new world to their kind who had been isolated in this forest.

Thanks to her, there were many changes, and many of them were positive.

She was a strong being that people of the outside world considered one of the strongest to exist in this world, calling her the great mage and what not.

She was merely someone that was blessed with strength, someone that did not like using her strength until it was for her people, and for the sake of their kind. The elves by nature were peace loving beings that loved their nature more than anything else, so they just wanted to live with what they had until now.

There wasn’t much the elves wanted from the outside world either since the forest provided them all that they wanted, the purpose of opening their gates to the outside world was merely to erase the limited thinking of their kind.

"Cathy..."

There was a bigger world outside of this forest and by sending the children of their kind out there in the world, to the great academy that was made for the young children, for the future of the world, and was run by the great divine existence directly connected with an element of nature, their children were going to have a new kind of experience in their time in that world, among the other children who weren’t as gifted as them, and yet were much better than them.

The elves weren’t supreme just because they were blessed by the nature or had the gaze of the gods upon them, they were merely a small kind that lived in the forests in solitude.

There were many more kinds out there and the previous queen of their kind understood that well from her initial encounter with the previous emperor.

"He was not the best person, but he fell in a battle by the hands of his own blood. It was an honourable death for a tyrant like him."

One of the absolutes of this world, the silver queen that did not need spells to cast magic, one of the few high elves that were left in this world– she had been worried sick about her beloved grandchild for a while now.

She was a gifted child that was loved by all of them.

Her father’s affection for her was so well known throughout their kingdom that there were people looking at her with unwell intentions.

But, they were not going to do anything to her as long as she was within their protection.

She was a strong child herself that understood the world and the Power so she had always wanted her to understand the broader world out there and lead their kind even better than what her father or she herself had been able to until now.

There were times when she was worried about her in the past year, but when she heard that she had found friends and was doing well, she was glad– the bright look she had every time they talked through the communication crystal was much better than what they had seen on her even when she was here,

They can tell she was actually having fun with whatever she was doing in that academy, and she was most certainly surrounded by people that were much better than her in many aspects.

As the elder, she had already heard about two that had been at the top of all students ever since the entrance exams.

She knew how they had already mastered their arts and how they most probably were people who had lived more than their age.

They were human borns, and yet they possessed strength and talent to make even someone like their talented girl look up to their talents.

"I’ve known him ever since he was a young boy... but even I had never known he held such hatred inside of him."

"The voice of the world mentioned how his mother’s death made him dislike the previous emperor."

She knew how she was friends with the two of them and how they were looking after her in the academy and she was pretty grateful for their help.

She wanted to meet them for a while now, but the times weren’t right right now.

The war in the empire and now her love for the new emperor... a lot was happening and a lot that she never foresaw was happening.

She had known the crown prince even before he was a crown prince.

His mother was a great person and she herself was pretty close with her.

The time when she was around was the best times the empire might have had in the many centuries it had been under the previous emperor, but after she passed away the emperor went back to his older self– and trailed on a path of no return.

"I shall go and see her myself."

"Mother...?"

She was worried about her.

The new emperor ascended the throne just so that he can be together with his love sounded a little too romantic for current age.

He got help from those thieves who strangely did not come to their nation when they were stealing stuff from all over the world. And there was still a chance that they were still the real operators of the empire behind the scenes.

She knew how capable those people were already from how much she had seen their battle and from the battle that was described by the voice of the world.

"It is important this time. I’ve received news that even the Temple is moving now."

The first time the world spoke of their exploit was when they raided the sky fortress that even she, along with the other absolutes of this world, could not beat.

No treasure of their kind was stored on that fortress, though there were still many important documents that she needed to purchase back from them at a high price– something strange considering they could have gotten much more if they tried selling it away to someone other than them.

But, those strange thieves gave them the chance to purchase their own tings back first before they auctioned off the rest of the stuff... she did not understand the logic behind it even to this day, but she knew those people were no simple beings if they had enough strength, power, skills, authorities, and Divine knowledge that they not only dealt with their opponents, they even obtained as much from them as they could.

She knew if they were the ones controlling the empire, then they would do a great job with it. But then... what was the role of the current emperor other than being their puppet and the face of the empire?

What did they want from her granddaughter who was ’in love’ with this puppet of an unknown force?

There were many questions that she had thought long and hard about.

She had directly asked Cathy as well, but her answers were not satisfactory to the grand mage.

She did not want her granddaughter to be a mere puppet in someone else’s games.

She was too precious to her, so if those people wanted something from that innocent child, they needed to deal with her first.

"It will not take long."

She knew with the Temple being involved in this whole mess, the Vanraya would somehow get dragged into this mess as well.

Those bastards who praised some false gods always disliked those who only worshipped nature and did not believe in the absolute authority of their gods.

She knew there were countless ’gods’ like the ones they served in the grand world, but there was only one nature throughout all worlds.

Worship of the great and eternal nature was the only true kind of worship.

But, this ideology of theirs was strongly opposed by the Theocracy.

"I will be back shortly... most probably along with Cathy."

She had been dealing with those god crazy bastards for a long time already.

So, she did not want her grandchild to be dragged into this mess as well.
