Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 79: The Pain of Unrequited Love
CHAPTER 79: CHAPTER 79: THE PAIN OF UNREQUITED LOVE
Monica Usher had a gentle smile on her lips, "Then you should rest early, good night." After she spoke, she hung up the phone herself.
Justin Kingston had a moment of distraction; because of his mother’s pressure to marry, it seems there is a tall wall between him and her.
They once could confide in each other like friends and often spent time together.
Besides Mia Lane, Monica Usher is the only woman acknowledged by everyone that can get close to Justin Kingston.
Everyone believes that he and she are a couple, only he knows there is no love between them.
Looking out at the night, Justin Kingston wondered what Mia Lane was doing in Sunshine Village, which wasn’t too far away.
Throughout the entire day, he repeatedly thought of her unwittingly.
The nights in Sunshine Village are lively.
The bright moonlight generously showered down, dressing the village in a beautiful silver veil, with the sound of frogs croaking in the fields.
"This is my specialty, tomato and egg noodles, want to try?" Mia Lane came out of the kitchen with the noodles, wearing an apron like a beautiful little cook.
Anton Miller stood by the dining table, smiling at her, "Then I won’t hold back."
Jonah Woods handed him the chopsticks, "Here, Anton."
"How old are you?" Anton Miller asked him.
Jonah Woods blurted out, "Twenty."
"Then you should call me brother." Anton Miller nodded, took the chopsticks, and sat down in the bamboo chair, "These noodles smell delicious, thank you!"
That he would even say thank you surprised Mia Lane.
"You’re welcome." She turned around happily, going back into the kitchen to serve Jonah Woods.
"Master, let me do it!" Jonah Woods joyfully followed her inside; his master said they would stay here for a while, and he was thrilled every single moment.
Anton Miller felt Jonah Woods was like a child, addressing his master all the time, following Mia Lane with great admiration.
But Mia Lane’s fondness for Jonah Woods is definitely not that of a man and woman relationship, Anton Miller could tell.
"Can I stay here tonight?"
When Mia Lane came out, Anton Miller tried to ask.
She hesitated for half a second, and their eyes met, then she asked, "Where’s your companion?"
He replied with a smile, "Gone."
"..."
Anton Miller buried his head and ate the noodles, "The village scenery is nice, outside is too restless, I want to stay here quietly for a few days."
"Alright." Mia Lane thought about it and agreed cheerfully, "You can stay together with Jonah Woods or have a room by yourself."
"Alone, I don’t like too much noise."
"Oh, okay."
Jonah Woods was very puzzled, why did he want to stay?
A man who is not really familiar at all, is this appropriate?
Although Jonah Woods doesn’t like Justin Kingston, he fears his master might get into trouble; if Justin Kingston knew his master was hosting another man, would he go crazy?
After eating the noodles, Jonah Woods was forced to prepare a bedroom for Anton Miller, feeling deeply resentful in his heart!
Because he thinks this Anton Miller has ulterior motives!
"Let me wash the dishes."
Mia Lane was surprised, she had just prepared warm water and saw him starting to do dishes, how did this defiant man... change?
"I just feel it’s not good to freeload, what I can do, let me do." He spread his hands, "It’s that simple."
"Alright, go ahead and wash." Mia Lane didn’t stand on ceremony with him.
The reason for leaving him was because Justin Kingston cared about him.
And Anton Miller was full of hostility towards Justin Kingston; Mia Lane instinctively wanted to help them smooth their relationship.
Yet she didn’t consider the reason Anton Miller wanted to stay.
In the master bedroom at Emerald Cove, Justin Kingston sat on the sofa by the window, with a thin jacket draped over him, meticulously examining design drafts one by one.
Sometimes when he saw a particular design, his dark eyes would become deep and boundless, and he would rest his chin on his hand and furrow his brows.
Sometimes he would think for a long, long time...
Sometimes he would casually annotate something and then turn to the next page.
That night, Monica Usher also had insomnia.
In her small apartment, her mind was full of images of Mia Lane and Justin Kingston together, those images overlapping as she analyzed whether they truly loved each other or were likely just pretending.
Based on her understanding of Justin Kingston, he has never been in love, never felt moved.
Monica Usher sought that one-in-a-million chance for herself.
Loving someone really is too painful, especially when you can’t have them; that sense of uncertainty could drive someone mad.
That night, she drank, and her heart was torn with pain.
If nothing unexpected happened seven years ago, the person pregnant with his child would have been her...
Monica Usher is not reconciled and will never give up! This is her life motto.
