Chapter 94: Listen to Her Today
CHAPTER 94: CHAPTER 94: LISTEN TO HER TODAY
The wind blew gently, carrying the scent of flowers.
In the moment their eyes met, time seemed to stand still.
Mia Lane came back to her senses and averted her gaze sheepishly, "Shall we... shall we go to the next county? We’ll take the train."
"Why?" he asked, puzzled, "Why take a train?"
"Just trust me!" With a bit of assertiveness, she finished flying the kite and took Justin Kingston to the train station.
Mia skillfully bought tickets online, swiping out two train tickets with her ID, "Normally, you don’t need to get paper tickets for intercity travel, but I wanted to make a keepsake for you, so here!"
It was Justin’s first time at a train station, even though he owned over a dozen private jets.
Around them, passengers were laden with bags; an adult was holding two children, it was very crowded and noisy.
Justin made no complaint, receiving the train ticket from her hand.
Mia was delighted, "Let’s go!"
Once on the train following the protocol, Justin sat by the window, while Mia sat beside him, "We’ll get there soon."
As the train slowly moved forward, he gazed out the window.
Experiencing this for the first time, Justin felt an unprecedented peace watching the scenery slowly recede.
The neighboring county was a place that preserved its historical culture, not overly developed, with distinctive cuisine and quaint lodgings.
It was a slow-paced area, free from the hustle and bustle of a big city.
Just off the train, Justin felt a strong sense of nostalgia; it was a great place to cleanse the soul.
"Have you been here before?" His voice was low and magnetic.
Mia gave him a smile, "Let’s go!"
Then she casually flagged down a taxi, told the driver an address.
Ten minutes later, the taxi turned into an alley.
Justin scanned to pay, and they both got out of the car.
"Are you hungry?" Mia asked.
He shook his head, not answering.
Sparing of words!
"Let’s meet Eva first, then we’ll try some local specialties; it’s on me today!" With that, she stepped forward, forgetting he couldn’t eat.
Justin walked beside her; it was a particularly old alley, with moss-covered walls, narrow lanes that could easily brush against your clothes.
In front of a dilapidated door, she stopped and knocked on it.
"Mia!" A shabbily dressed little girl joyfully ran into her arms, "You really came!!"
Justin noticed Mia held no disdain, instead embracing the little girl tightly.
Her face was bright with smiles, "I said I’d come, and I did! When have I ever lied to you?"
"I sent Grandma to the hospital." The little girl released her, stepped back two steps, and deeply bowed, "Thank you for your support, Mia!"
"Are you going back to school now?"
"Yes! Come in and sit!" The little girl was especially happy, her gaze landing on the man behind her, "Hello."
"Hello," Justin’s demeanor was gentle.
Mia turned her gaze to him, his tall and elegant figure stood in the alley like a god, his presence was not in the least fitting here.
"Are you coming in?" She didn’t force him.
Justin followed her into the small, dim room.
Mia gave the child some money, another encouraging hug, and promised to visit her whenever she could.
Half an hour later, they were in a small restaurant.
Mia made arrangements with the owner, paid, and personally went into the kitchen to cook.
"Don’t just stand there, the smell of oil is strong!" Mia was choked and couldn’t open her eyes, holding a spatula, coughing non-stop; the vent was too small and needed maintenance!
Justin felt a strange discomfort in his heart, he went in and dragged her out!
"Hey! What are you doing? It’s going to burn!" The spatula was still in her hand.
Looking at her face covered like a little raccoon, Justin said, "I had an injection of a new drug this morning; Ian Shelby said it would last a day, so I’m not hungry."
"It’s almost done!" She broke free, turned, and slipped back into the kitchen.
Justin went back into the kitchen again.
"I told you to listen to me today!" Mia said as she cooked, stealing a glance, commanding, "Get out!!"
He stopped, looked at her, then turned and left.
By now, he was covered in the smell of oil smoke, and smelling it made him feel like vomiting for no reason!
Shortly, Mia came out with two homemade dishes.
The restaurant owner served them two bowls of rice.
"Try it?" Mia pulled him to sit in the dining chair, handing him the chopsticks, "Eat a little even if you’re not hungry, it’s no fun eating alone."
Justin said, "You go wash your face first, I’ll wait for you."
She squinted her eyes, got up and left! In front of the mirror, she found she looked like a little raccoon!
