CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: I BEG YOU FOR ONE THING

The car came to a stop, and the window rolled down.

When Monica Usher saw Mrs. Kingston’s car parked in the yard, she couldn’t believe her eyes.

Did Mrs. Kingston stay here overnight?

At that moment, Mrs. Kingston came out of the living room holding two children, with an uncommon smile on her face peeking from behind her half mask.

Monica Usher watched as Mrs. Kingston looked out for the children on the steps, and as the driver opened the car door, she reluctantly let go of their hands.

The children waved goodbye to her.

"Goodbye, Grandma!"

"Come play with us again when you’re free, Grandma!"

"We all really like you!"

"We finally have a grandma!!"

Monica Usher felt as if she was hallucinating!

No, this couldn’t be!

Seeing Mrs. Kingston get into her car, Monica Usher quickly drove off before that car could leave.

All the way, her mind buzzed, gripping the steering wheel tightly, the disappointment in her heart uncontrollable!

The scene she had just witnessed lingered in her mind like a nightmare.

She felt her blood pressure rising!

The car screeched to a sudden stop on the side of the road! Monica Usher leaned over the steering wheel, trying hard to suppress the emotions surging inside.

Mrs. Kingston had lied to her...

In a guesthouse in the neighboring town.

In a uniquely decorated room, Mia Lane stretched and opened her eyes to find herself lying in his arms.

Her cheeks flushed red! Oh my! Was she clinging to him like an octopus?

"Yesterday was the most meaningful day of my life." Justin Kingston’s deep and pleasant voice reached her ears.

She was startled, was he awake?

She quickly moved away, "Oh."

"So what do you want to know?" Justin Kingston realized he had no boundaries left.

Mia Lane turned her gaze, would he tell her everything she wanted to know? But she didn’t dwell on it, it was now or never!

She spoke directly, "Didn’t I promise to treat your mom’s burns? After interacting with her twice, I feel her emotional scars run deeper!"

"Yes." He agreed.

"I need to understand the details of the fire incident, basically the cause. I searched online, and there was no media coverage. It’s impossible for such a big event to leave no traces. Was it deliberately erased because of some unusual reason?"

He did not answer directly.

Mia Lane looked at him, "If you trust me, please tell me."

The room fell into prolonged silence.

It was memories that Justin Kingston had sealed away long ago.

Mia Lane said sincerely, "I’m not forcing you. You don’t have to give me a quick response. I know we haven’t established complete trust. We just unexpectedly had children. We’re linked because of the kids."

"No matter what, I’m Gigi and Dolly’s mother. They love you so much. I won’t do anything to harm you. I’ve already let the kids down too much. I won’t let them be sad."

Justin Kingston believed her words.

But the fire incident involved many things... a disgraceful past the Kingston family was unwilling to mention.

It was a scar in his mother’s heart and a pain in Justin Kingston’s own heart.

"I’ll think about it." Justin Kingston said after careful consideration, his tone somber, "There’s one thing I’m asking of you."

Ask?

That word carried a heavy weight.

Had Justin Kingston ever asked for anything in his life?

"Tell me, and I’ll see if I can agree." She braced herself, wondering what kind of excessive request it might be.

Justin Kingston paused for a moment, "Stay away from Anton Miller in the future."

Mia Lane was slightly taken aback first, then tentatively asked, "Who is he? What’s your relationship with him?"
