CHAPTER 16: CHAPTER 16: WHAT’S DONE IS DONE

The voices around kept discussing Faye Sterling’s connection with Alaric Faulkner.

Most women were jealous, and now, able to step in, they naturally wouldn’t give up.

It seemed that if they could pull her down, they could rise to the top themselves.

"What a disgrace, a dignified Mrs. Faulkner actually sent a counterfeit."

"Yeah, she just said Eleanor Sterling sent a fake, but clearly it was hers that was fake."

Faye Sterling’s face turned from red to white, and she hurriedly explained to Old Master Sterling, "Grandpa, I was deceived by the assistant too. I really spent a lot of money intending to give you the Medicine King Vine Bracelet."

After finishing, Faye started crying.

Rosalie Ray quickly chimed in, "Dad, Faye was deceived, please don’t blame her."

Seeing Faye Sterling crying like a pear blossom in the rain, Old Master Sterling couldn’t bear to blame her either. He had witnessed Faye making phone calls earlier and roughly understood the situation.

But with so many people watching, it was quite embarrassing.

Old Master Sterling impatiently said, "Be more careful next time! How can such a small matter not be handled well?"

"Understood."

Eleanor Sterling wasn’t about to let Faye off so easily. She sneered, "Didn’t Mrs. Sterling say that the person who sent a fake should kneel and apologize? Why the double standard when it’s Faye Sterling?"

Rosalie Ray’s face darkened, glaring fiercely at Eleanor.

This damn woman, she had barely managed to sweep it under the rug, and Eleanor pushed them back into the storm.

Faye had just breathed a sigh of relief, but hearing Eleanor actually wanted her to kneel publicly, her face twisted instantly.

Chelsea Sterling chimed in sarcastically from the side, "Yeah, just now, Aunt said that the person who sent a fake should kneel and apologize."

Exposed for sending counterfeit goods, Faye felt embarrassed enough; kneeling publicly would make it hard for her to face anyone in Veridia City.

Rosalie took several deep breaths to suppress her anger.

She smiled, "Just now was just a slip of the tongue, this matter shouldn’t be taken seriously, and Faye wasn’t intentional, it was all that wretched Lilly who ran off with our money."

Eleanor raised her eyebrows slightly, her smile full of mockery.

"Oh? Who knows if Lilly really ran away, maybe it’s just an excuse to escape responsibility."

Her smile deepened, mocking, "Everyone heard, earlier Mrs. Sterling wasn’t joking at all, just trying to force me to kneel and apologize."

Rosalie watched Eleanor, wishing she could tear her mouth open; she couldn’t believe that after a few years, Eleanor had become sharp-tongued.

Old Master Sterling didn’t want them to continue their rivalry, letting others see The Sterling Family’s joke, he sternly said, "Faye, if you’re wrong, admit it."

"Grandpa!" Faye looked at Old Master Sterling in disbelief, he usually doted on her the most, she couldn’t believe he was siding with Eleanor now.

George Sterling saw Old Master Sterling had already spoken and feared he would be dissatisfied with him and his family.

He immediately spoke, "Faye, quickly kneel and apologize to your grandpa."

Faye gritted her teeth, a face full of humiliation and reluctance.

But now, no one was helping her; they were all watching her joke.

Finally, she bent her knees and knelt in front of Old Master Sterling!

"Grandpa, it was my fault."

Old Master Sterling’s face looked much better, he waved his hand, "Knowing one’s mistakes and correcting them makes a good child, you weren’t intentional, just be more careful in the future."

Rosalie quickly went forward to help Faye up.

Faye lowered her head and retreated to the side, but her tightly clenched hand deeply bit into her palm, almost breaking a tooth.

Eleanor Sterling, this damn woman!
