CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: SLEPT WITH ANOTHER WOMAN

"No, there’s absolutely nothing in this soup, just some herbs for health," Faye Sterling immediately explained.

"Take it away," Alaric Faulkner didn’t even glance at it.

Faye Sterling bit her lower lip, shamelessly opening the container. "Alaric, I was wrong yesterday, and I offer this as an apology. I made it especially for you. Drink it, and I’ll leave."

With that, she placed a spoon into the thermos and handed it over.

Alaric Faulkner’s eyes narrowed, a trace of impatience flashing in them.

He was just about to speak when Faye surprisedly pointed at his neck and questioned, "Alaric! Did you get with another woman last night?"

A bite mark was glaringly visible on Alaric Faulkner’s neck, partially hidden by his collar, though faintly red, it seemed to have been there a while.

Faye Sterling was so furious she wanted to kill.

Intense rage seared through her chest, nearly causing her to lose all sense.

She thought Alaric had taken a sufficient dose of the medicine; how could he remain indifferent? It turns out he’d been with another woman.

"Who is that woman?"

Faye Sterling’s eyes were bloodshot, full of angry betrayal, and her voice grew sharp.

Alaric Faulkner reached up to touch the mark on his neck, remembering the little wildcat that bit him last night, a barely noticeable curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Yet he remained indifferent towards Faye, saying, "Are you trying to control me now?"

Tears streamed even harder down Faye Sterling’s face; she was already at a disadvantage.

Even Caleb Faulkner’s mother hadn’t been able to marry Alaric Faulkner in seven years, so what right did she have to question him?

So even if Alaric Faulkner had really been with another woman, she could only swallow her rage.

Damn it, she would find out who this woman was that had gotten the upper hand, everything she’d done was like crafting bridal clothes for someone else!

Outside Faulkner Tower, Eleanor Sterling glanced up at the towering building, unable to suppress her amazement.

True to its name, Veridia Empire Corporation; a man with such an asset would surely be a man all women want to marry, and Faye Sterling did seem to have incredible luck.

After a moment’s pause, Eleanor Sterling stepped forward and entered the building.

This morning, she’d run to several places just to get those damned receipts together. Though she’d lost quite a bit of money, it was better than nothing.

Eleanor Sterling wore a black lace long dress, partially sheer, with a tight waistline hugging her slender figure, drawing all eyes to her.

"Hello, my surname is Sterling, I’m here to see President Faulkner."

The receptionist stared at Hannah Jennings, a flash of awe in her eyes, then politely responded, "Alright, please wait a moment."

She dialed an internal line, "Yes, I’ll have her go up right away."

Eleanor Sterling turned to head upstairs, and as the receptionists watched her back, they began to whisper among themselves.

"She’s beautiful, is she here for a business deal with President Faulkner?"

"I don’t know, maybe."

"She said her surname is Sterling too, do you think she has any connection with the lady of the house?"

"Probably not, I heard the lady only has one cousin, Chelsea Sterling, and I’ve seen her, she doesn’t look like this."

Eleanor Sterling took the elevator to the top floor, where Elijah Hayes was already waiting.

"Miss Sterling, this way please."

He snuck a glance at Eleanor Sterling, secretly speculating about her relationship with Alaric Faulkner.

This woman should be Faye Sterling’s older sister, right?

In Veridia City, she had quite a reputation, though not a good one.

Even with Faye Sterling still in the office, Alaric Faulkner’s direct order to bring Eleanor Sterling in was truly surprising.

Eleanor Sterling had planned to deliver the receipts and leave; she didn’t want to see Alaric Faulkner again.

But considering there was her personal appearance fee, service fee, and such things involved, and knowing how fussy that man could be, she decided to deliver them personally.

The office door opened, and Eleanor Sterling immediately saw Faye Sterling, and there was an open thermos in front of Alaric Faulkner.

Judging by Faye Sterling’s expression, things didn’t seem good.

Eleanor Sterling raised an eyebrow and then gave Elijah a charming smile, "Thank you."

She walked straight inside.
